Some pictures from the Norwegian Constitution Day

in OCD3 years ago

17th of May was the Norwegian Constitution Day. I'm a little slow posting this seeing as that's almost half a month ago but I guess better late than never. I also had to wait for some of the photos to be sent to me from my friends and girlfriend.

This day was simply awesome. Social happenings aren't really a thing these days so it was nice to get out and see some people. I met with some old friends and made a couple of brand new ones as well.

In Norway it's quite normal to have champagne breakfasts for Constitution Day. These usually start as early as 7 in the morning. We set the table with all sorts of awesome food, get dressed in our finest attire and drink champagne for breakfast. It's a little bit silly but it's sort of become tradition at this point.

This year was different though. Due to the pandemic any household couldn't hold more than five guests inside. It was however allowed to have up to 20 guests if the arrangement took place outside and you didn't have to walk through the apartment to get to the site. Meaning those lucky enough to have a decently sized garden could host a good group of people.

We were a group of seven people so we couldn't have the breakfast at any of our houses and since none of us had a garden we needed to get creative. We ended up booking a table for a hotel breakfast. That was such a great idea. We got to eat from the buffet which had everything you could ever want for your breakfast. Warm dishes, cold dishes, coffee, cake and the whole package. They even took orders for beer and champagne which was awesome. We got our champagne breakfast and we didn't have to do anything to arrange it ourselves. No cooking and no cleaning!

Restaurant hopping

For the rest of the day we did some restaurant and cafe hopping. Due to Covid regulations bars, cafes and restaurants can't serve alcoholic beverages to people who don't order food. Just to make sure a little less people go out and get plastered at the pub. Reservations can only be made for two hours as well which meant if we wanted to hang out together for more than two hours we had to book tables at different restaurants.

We started out at a nice little cafe called Cafe Opera. We shared a plate of some cheeses and cured hams so that we were allowed to drink. We had a damn good time, played some party games and laughed a lot.

We then had a booking at an Asian restaurant called Soya. We ordered some dumplings and had another great time. We met up with some extra people here and I even randomly ran into a colleague. The waiter here was a real charismatic guy who we laughed a lot with. I jokingly said to him that he should stop flirting with my girlfriend and go get our drinks. When he came back he had made a heart in my Espresso Martini which was quite funny. This guy received some tips for sure.

The last booking was at our favorite Italian restaurant called Villani. This one was only for me and my girlfriend to spend some quality time together and to end off the day. At this point we had been going at it since 9 in the morning and since work was coming up the day after we couldn't go all night.

We ordered a parma pizza for sharing and had a last glass of beer and wine. This place has such awesome italian pizzas. I hadn't tasted the parma pizza before but my girlfriend eats it all the time when we're there. It was damn good!

When we were about to leave we stopped to look at the wine loft they have. It's neatly arranged with a lot of mirrors and has a glass floor so if you stand in the stairs below it and look up it looks like the wine loft goes on for miles. One of the waiters asked if we wanted to take a look inside and of course we did.

I'm not much of a wine guy. I mostly drink beers and the occasional glass of gin but my girlfriend loves wine. She reads books about wines, listens to podcasts and often order up new wines that's being released so this was great for her. I stood idly by and took some pictures. The chamber was pretty cool.

A walk in the park

Since the weather was absolutely perfect this day we decided to go for a walk in the park before heading home. We have this awesome park close to where we live where we often go for short walks or to feed the ducks. We decided it was a perfect location to take some pictures so we went and did that.

This day was awesome and it surpassed all of our expectations. I was hesitant to even go anywhere due to the pandemic but I don't regret it one bit. Infection numbers have been slowly decreasing day by day even though the town was packed with people on this day. I'm starting to hope and think we might have seen the worst of the pandemic in Norway. There's the occasional local outbreak here and there but overall the numbers are decreasing. Come the end of July the whole country will have been vaccinated as well. Things are looking good.

Killing it bro! That suit looks great, hell I don’t even own a suit. I was really hoping one of the next photos wasn’t going to be @pusen in the water after sliding off the rock 🤣

That wine room is pretty impressive, but you sound like me when it comes to rarely drinking it. Although I do enjoy some, I know little to nothing about it and do not obsess over it.

You and your lady make a fine couple. That sounds like an exciting, yet tiresome day. You two are lucky to have one another to propel each of you to new heights.

I wish you both continued happiness and success. More great days ahead for us all I hope.

Thanks man! It was a little risky going out on that rock but it was worth it for the photos. Love that place!

I think we're an awesome couple myself. We have so much fun together, even on the laziest of days when we're just chilling in our pjs and playing Mario Kart. The day was tiresome for sure but it went by fast due to all the fun.

Hopinh to share some more life stuff in the coming summer months. We have a lot of cool stuff planned.

Risk always feels better after you finish and can look back on the success.

Glad to see she has opened up to posting photos online with you here. Usually I’m not a fan of it either, but it’s just different here with Hive. I actually want to share things with the world.

wow brother what a beautiful tradition, it really caught my attention, it is interesting how you celebrate with champagne, I love champagne, I remember the first time I drank it was at an aunt's birthday, it was amazing, I also love the formal wear you guys use, it is civilized yet cool, I am glad you enjoyed your tradition brother.

Indeed. The whole country gets dressed up and celebrates on this day. It's a great day for us Norwegians!

Tu de broma tomas agua JAJAJAJA
I'love Lion xD

What the fuc...!?

Interesting celebration. breakfast drinking champagne, if I do that I do not stop until I finish the whole bottle hahaha. By noon I would be sleeping totally drunk.
You make a beautiful couple, much happiness and success to both of you!

That is what happens to some people. They drink hard from the morning and are already in bed before the evening comes. Regulation and hydration is king!

Thank you so much! That makes us happy.

There’s something wrong with the pictures… I can’t see the Christmas ornaments on your beard 😂

Jk, hope you enjoyed everything man! 😁

Haha! I should have dressed up the beard for sure.

Shit, you have too much style despite being a math teacher. You look fucking great in that suit. I didn't know you had such a cute girlfriend, you both look great. The place you were at looks really amazing too, life in the first world is completely different.

Hopefully the shit pandemic will end soon so you can post more with all the style the suit brings you.

Math teachers can have style to! Thanks for the kind comments my man. That makes us happy for sure. I hope I’ll be able to post more life stuff soon. Gaming is great but there’s a life outside as well!

When I buy a "decent" phone I'll show you the cool streets of La Asuncion (where I live) :P

Looking forward to it!

Your girlfriend is very pretty 🥰 yes, it's been a while but the photos are great, some of them make for a story and how nice that you can show your non-gamer side so to speak, dressing up in a smart suit for this occasion.

Your comment made her happy! I want to share more stuff from my life on the blog but there's not a lot happening these days. I hope to get some more life stuff out during the summer. We have some plans to travel so I think it will be cool. Cheers!

That's good, I'm glad I did it hehe. It's the opposite, I want to post about games, but it takes me a long time to put together a good post and I just have so many things to do that I haven't been able to. But it's never too late. I hope to see those summer pictures.

It's easier to put together gaming posts if you play a lot of games, like I do. When it's fresh in the mind the words flow easily. At least for me they do. Hope to see some contributions from you in the Hive Gaming Community soon!

Yes, I know what you're talking about. I've written on Hive gaming, my 7 year old daughter is a real video game lover and I've written about her too. I'll write something soon, that's a promise.

With that suit you looks like The Norwegian 007 :) . It's very nice to see you being happy, pal.

Regards.

Cheers mate! I am in fact the Norwegian 007.

Hey @pusen every day you learn something new, I didn't know about the date of the Norwegian constitution and even less about their champagne breakfast, maybe it seems a little strange to you but believe me in every culture there are much stranger things, however, I like to know at least a little bit of that culture. It's hard right now to get out and celebrate many special occasions, however, you had an excellent day. Great post bro 👍

Thank you Jo! Cool that you learned something new here today. I hope I can start doing more stuff like this in the coming months.

That place looks awesome. I want to visit Norway at some point. Hopefully this whole pandemic shit settles down so we can all get back to traveling the world.

Can't wait to get back on a plane to go somewhere far off and new. Not to mention getting to some festivals again. I miss that stuff so much. We'll take you hiking followed up by a great bbq if you ever come to Norway!
