As I so coyly mentioned on Twitter the other day, today is the 55th year I've been on this planet. There's really nothing in the works for celebrating, because thanks to the horrid heatwave here in New Hampshire, plus hubby having to work today, as well as the current state of the world, I just planned to do my usual daily things.
Then I hopped onto FB for a moment this morning, and the first thing I saw was this...
And my reaction was...
...which quickly turned to...
Long story short (my birthday gift to all of you...🤣 ) I thought it would be cool to do a short post, designate a Hive charity as the 100% post rewards beneficiary (crossing my fingers that I did it correctly, since I've never done it before), and see what happens. If it gets a decent enough payout, you can be sure I'm going to shout it from the Twitter rooftops that when it comes to supporting causes, no one does it better than our decentralized community!
Oh, and the charity I picked was a no brainer for me - I've been a long time fan of the good work @papilloncharity does, and have been happily contributing to his awesome @combination Weekly Hive Charity 50-50 donation/giveaway where, "For only 1 $ HBD per week, all our supporters have a chance to win giveaway prizes totaling 50% of the $ HBD collected."

And with that, I leave you to hopefully drop a few upvotes (the "How to Participate" post has only been up for a day... hint hint), and maybe consider doing something similar when your natal day arrives. I know there are lots of awesomesauce charities and donation initiatives on the blockchain, and I think it would be wicked cool to see an alternative to the Fakebook fundraiser thing gaining traction here.
And if anyone needs me, I plan to spend the rest of today on the couch with a Dresden Files book (not the new release yet, still rereading the series for the bazillionth time first), because, in case I forgot to mention it...😂

....yeah... and FB DOES hold your info when you donate without asking you. I donated to a friend's cause one time and the next friend that had one up, FB wanted to know if I wanted to donate again and it had my info. I had to go delete it manually and of course I have never participated again.
It's a good idea though, Facebook is different from hive. I'll do the same, I should choose hive rather than Facebook.
