How To Avoid Eye Strain As A Blogger

Blogging can be a very beautiful experience until your eye starts to say otherwise especially when you have deadlines and your eyes are refusing to corporate. The eyes are not created to stare at devices for so long and they begin to ache, coupled with headaches, watery or even dry eyes plus many other annoying symptoms. Most bloggers state at their devices for a minimum of 8hrs and your eyes are simply not built for that kind of stress. It makes the eye turn inward, the pupils constrict which put an unnatural strain on the eye muscle and cranial nerves which then cause the symptoms we feel.

If not reduced this could cause temporary or permanent damage to our eyes and so its important we take steps to avoid this which include;

  • Adjust the lightning; Not just of your device but also the environment in which you work. A lot of people feel more comfortable working in a dark environment but is this really good for your eye balls. You need adequate indirect light around you so you don't strain your eye muscles starring at the only bright object in a room. You can use table lamps instead because overhead lighting can be tough on your eyes. The brightness coming from your phone is also important because it shouldn't be too bright or dim. Adjust the contrast and brightness to a level that's balanced with the environment I.e a level you are not squinting to read. You should also enlarge your type to reduce this.

  • Take screen breaks; Working round the clock starring at a device is bad for your eyes and so its important that you take breaks. Look around your environment or leave your work space entirely if possible to look at natural objects like flowers or people. You can take a five minute walk around your environment as well. You can also do the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes look at something 20feet away for at least 20seconds. This can be done when you have a deadline to meet and taking a walk might seem like a waste of time.

  • Adjust your device distance; Being too close to your computer or laptop can put unnecessary strain on your eyes. The rule is to make sure your device is at arms length away so the top of your screen is just below eye level. Position your screen before you and not on your left or right so you don't put pressure on your eyes and make it difficult to maintain focus.

  • Try to blink as often as possible; this will help prevent your eyes from getting really heavy and irritated from starring for too long. Working on a computer makes you blink less than you actually think and this reduces natural lubrication to your eyes. Blink frequently, at least every 20 minutes so as to increase lubrication in your eyes.

  • Use a bigger screen; more people feel comfortable working on their phones because its faster and handy but it really isn't good for your eyes. You are squinting too often and putting a strain on your eyes. Perhaps try switching from your mobile to a laptop from time to time.

  • Get an anti-glare spectacle; these are made from anti- reflection coatings. It is an extremely thin layer placed on the lens itself that removes reflections which you see from the surface of your glasses. By eliminating this reflection, more light is able to pass through the lens and improve the sharpness of your vision.

But if your symptoms persist even with all these tips it is important that you seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Greetings friend @valchiz

I recently wrote something about eyestrain and what steps we can take to avoid deterioration of our visual health, I agree with your approach as certainly blogging can be a very beautiful experience until our visual health starts to say otherwise. Thank you for socializing this type of utilitarian and supportive content for the members of the community, best regards. Be well.

wow that good to hear sir, really happy agreeing with my approach. thanks for reading through

Good recommendations, This allows us to be focused and relaxed on the task we are doing.

And in this way with this relaxation time our brain can work more efficiently, we must be concentrated to be able to do quality work.

It is also very important in the case of people who wear glasses, to have the prescription renewed so that we can see the texts well and do not have health problems such as headaches and other things.

that true, i agree with that

When computer screens were not yet in color, they sold anti-glare screens to protect the eyesight that were placed in front of the PC, it seems that they were not very successful because they disappeared, which indicates that people did not believe the damage caused to the eyesight to be so long with the eyes fixed on the screen, something common not only in bloggers but in those who play, as it is important to keep your eyes wide open to pass levels or do some action that means the triumph. @tipu curate 2

yes seems so, but thank God anti-glare glasses are now available now to protect our eyes.

Hi @valchiz Very appropriate your publication, very good advice, we must pay more attention to the health of our eyes...greetings!!!

Hi @valchiz, the issue of eyestrain is a frequent consequence of teleworking, which has intensified in recent years. Thanks for the recommendations.
