It's Hard to Stay Angry in the Sunshine: December 23, 2020

We kicked the day off with a little fight for Melissa and I. I forget why, like with most little fights that married couples have. All I remember is that I was mad, Melissa was mad, and then I went out to work in the garden. It was a warm day, it had to be around 65°F, and as sunny as it can be around winter solstice. Any bickering stopped quickly as we soaked up the sunshine and got some work done.

Melissa wanted some things cleaned up, and I conveniently worked that into building a stack of wood to burn, cleaning up rabbit poop, and prepping beds for spring.

The leaves I mulched with were from our huge pile that Melissa has wanted moved. I didn't make time to collect any leaf bags this year because of the house projects, so our leaves are the leaves we have. No biggie, there's more than enough for this job. I got four beds prepped, three of which with a healthy layer of rabbit poo under the leaves, then I put plywood over the leaves to make sure they don't get blown and washed away. Hopefully come spring there'll be plenty of life in the beds for planting. This makes five beds in the forest garden, the most formal beds we've ever had. And that's not counting the swale berms or the onion patches. Hmmm... I should plant more onions on the swale berms to make use of that space.

After the bed prep and some of the yard work was done, it was time for the national pastime of Nate's place:

watching rabbits and throwing axes

Work today was whatever. We wrapped up early so we could clean everything out for the holiday. I didn't make time then for a post because I was talking. My friend Sam came back from his leave of absence, so we're picking back up where we left off. It's good to have a friend to talk with about things, it gets the creativity flowing I think.

I did get my LBRY account set up today! LBRY is what I've replaced YouTube with, it's kind of a mix between hive and YouTube, where you can get rewarded on chain for engaging and producing content, but the content is mostly video based. When I inquired about manual verification in their discord, one of the developers reached out to me to see t it up. Their automated setup requires you to provide links to your social media accounts to prove you're not a robot that's just trying to collect crypto. Makes sense, but I deleted all my other social media. I guess I'm human enough to sound human in their chat channel though, so they got me verified. I do have a referral link if anyone would like to join me there. I'm mostly there to listen to podcasts and engage with folks, but I may upload some videos of my own to see how I like that type of content creation. I'll definitely keep you posted here.

Well, it's 4:30AM, and I just got done fighting with farmer Sam over going to bed, so I'm gonna go to bed. Merry Christmas y'all.

Love from Texas,

Nate 💚

Merry Christmas and happy New year to you too @porters! Thanks for the well wishes 💚

Merry Chrissy mate. Rabbits and axes huh? Sounds dangerous, but not for the axe. That video thing sounds interesting. You hanging out places other than HIVE? Oy

I can't recall the last fight we had. Being off work equals less stress, so we tend to be pretty mellow with each other!

Mostly telegram where I talk with my friends when we're not hanging out face to face. But lbry is neat for listening to podcasts. Not much music on there yet, but perhaps that's something some of our hive musicians could change...

Fights are usually inconsequential. Me rolling my eyes after Melissa complains for the eighth time about the trash or the lawn. It's been a while since our last biggun. Sounds like you found a real tangible benefit to all the covid stuff!
