Just made Immortal Bone Golem deck : Trying untamed death deck

Hola Splinterland Players!

I hope you all are doing good and enjoying Splinterlands!

The Splinter world is changing at rapid-fast rate friends and I hope you all are aware of that. The market is still full of cheap max cards of every edition and I think it's a golden opportunity to buy cards using FIAT money as you will save a ton of bucks while buying them.

Meanwhile, I also awake myself and bought some very popular cards recently after the price drop using steem from power down. First of all, I bought my dream card, the max alpha Spirit of the Forest at 50$ from the market!! Seriously folks, I was waiting for a long time to buy this card but till before the downtime, it used to maintain a high price and I think I never saw it came below 100$ for a max one.

Next, I finally maxed out my alpha water summoner Alric Stormbringer. I had a level 7 and I could not use my max cards with it. For water reign, many magic monsters have 1 increased magic power at max level (like medusa and mermaid) so I could not attack my opponents with full power with that level 7 summoner. But now I feel a lot more powerful with the max Alric. As I already have some maxed out magic cards like medusa, prismatic energy dwarven wizard, Enchanted Pixie etc. Yes, I am a magic-o-holic as you probably guessed by now XD

Well, I didn't stop there. Spliterlands is organising with untamed tournaments every now and then with awesome prizes to be won. As I didn't focus on buying untamed packs, I was missing those lovely tourneys and losing the chance to win those lucrative prices.

I often do searches in the market for max cards as you would get them at a far more cheap rate if compared with buying single bcx cards. I was becoming desperate to build a decent untamed deck for the sake of playing those untamed tournaments. I thought a lot about from where to start with. First of all, from my observation, I realized that it would be far cheaper to buy max cards directly from the market. Thereby, I decided to build max earth and death decks first. Among them, I focused on the death deck first as it was cheaper than that of earth. I bought some cards from https://monstermarket.io (and looted 3% cashback XD) and some I have bought/traded directly from owners.

Talking about Death untamed deck, I think the main 2 cards that most of the time ensure your win in the battleground are Dark Ha'on and Mimosa Nightshade. Dark Ha'on is a 10 mana legendary monster with a load of features which is a must-have card in your collection, especially for those high mana matches. At 10 mana it offers 13 health and 2 armour with 4 attack and 3 speed and also a big pack of 5 abilities!! Dark Ha'on is currently being listed at the market for 2.84$ and the supply is pretty decent.

image.png

On the other hand, Mimosa is the 7 mana legendary death summoner aka the winner's tool in untamed tournaments. It gives you 3 abilities regardless of its level and it's very popular in the tournaments as well. As per the current market, the lowest value of a Mimosa is around 6.25-6.45$/bcx and despite having a good supply, there is still a decent demand for Mimosa.

image.png

The better the card, the pricy it is an that's the case here too. Right now, you have to pay approx 153k DEC (71$) to grab a max Mimosa which is certainly not a spendable price for me. Same goes for Dark Ha'on where you can buy a max one for 67.1 DEC (31.25$) as per the current listing. But, if you can afford them, I would suggest not to think much and just grab them. I also have started collecting them and currently I have 1 bcx of both of them and they are on my priority upgrade list.

Anyways, I have managed to collect most of the remaining death cards. Let me showcase my current death untamed collection to you folks.

image.png

As you can see, I have already bought most of the cards at max level and I got them at super cheap prices compared to 1 bcx price. I am only lacking Undead badger (melee sneak, 2 mana), Soulstrome (ranged, 5 mana) and Darkest Mage (magic, 2 mana). But first, my priority is to max my dark ha'on as I cannot win those big mana matches without it.

Why I chose Contessa as my first choice over others?

First, I have inspected that I can make a decent untamed death deck along with a max Contessa for a very lucrative price. I was trying to use my steem power down to buy most of them at once and only death was allowing me having a collection at a cheaper price than other splinters.

Secondly, Only 3 legendary summoners have been released out so far. They are Yodin Zaku (fire), Mimosa Nightshade (Death) and CHANSEUS THE GREAT (Life) and among all of them, mimosa is the cheapest legendary summoner till now so I can buy and use this legendary summoner faster than the others.

Lastly, till now I didn't have any death summoner or cards. I know it is weird but I never had any interest to make a death deck till the untamed came. Right no I face problems in tourneys for not having a death collection and many time I had to surrender whenever it was an only death allowed ruleset.

Considering all those facts above, I chose to go with the fire deck first and I am glad I took the decision. I am trying my best to max my death deck ASAP and I think with a month or so I may complete my deck (not sure about the mimosa thou LOL)

Now, without further ado, let me try some matches using my new death untamed cards.

Match line up

Ruleset Of Battle

image.png

  • Ruleset So, It was a Equaliser ( all monsters base health become equal to the highest health carrying monster in either line-up ) + Up Close and personal ( Only melee monsters can be used in the battle). It's a decent mana match and I will test this one with my death deck.
  • Mana count This match holds a decent 21 mana cap!

  • Summoners This battle supports Fire, Water, Life, Death and Dragon summoners.

At this much mana cap, after using the summoner, I will be left with only 18 mana in hand but I have to make sure that I utilize it properly to fill at least 5 good monsters. The first combe that came to my mind was to use the Bone Golem + Pegasus combo, So I will use it in my line-up.

Line-Up

image.png

BONE GOLEM

I chose Bone Golem in the first place so that it would consume a few good attacks from my opponent and also damage them back with high melee power. I have a max BOne Golem and at max level, it has 4 melee attack at 1 speed with 3 armour and 9 health. It also possesses 3 abilities as stated below which makes it a champion, especially at reversed speed ruleset.

  • Void - Take reduced damages from magic attacks.
  • Repair - This ability helps him restore a portion of his armour (if broken) every round.
  • Knock Out - With this ability, it can provide double damage to the enemy monsters that are being stunned at that moment.

image.png

CORRUPTED PEGASUS

I chose the pegasus in the second position mainly for its reach ability. I recently also bought and made a level 3 pegasus. At level 3, it provides 3 melee attack at 4 speed with 8 health. Moreover, from level 3 it unlocks all the abilities as stated below.

  • Flying - Has an increased chance to evade ranged and melee attacks from non-flying monsters.
  • Reach - Can do melee attacks from the second position in the line-up.
  • Strengthen - All friendly monsters get increased health.
  • Tank Heal - heal a portion of lost health of the monster in first position each round

image.png

FURIOUS CHICKEN

As usual, I again chose Furious Chicken to fill one place in my line-up, this time I chose the third place. Also, it would consume one of my enemy attacks, especially the ones with Opportunity ability. Moreover, using gold foil chicken always gives you +10% DEC bonus ;)

image.png

MAGGOTS

Maggot is my new opportunity monster in the collection. I have already bought a level 8. But I am really stunned after experiencing its ability in low mana matches. I will soon upgrade it to the maximum level and I hope together with parasitic growth, it will beat down the opponent within seconds! Anyways, AT level 8 he is standing with 2 opportunity melee attack at 3 speed with 3 health. It also possesses 2 abilities as stated below.

  • Opportunity - they attack from any position and target the enemy monster having the lowest health.
  • Scavenger - Gain +1 health each time a monster dies on that particular match.

image.png

CREEPING OOZE

After choosing the first 4 cards for this battle, I was only left with 2 mana to use and also 2 places to fill. I, therefore, chose the creeping ooze at the fifth place for 1 mana cost. Not only it will slow the opponent but also it will protect my back. Sweet ooze, saving my life every time in small mana matches. I have a level 8 Ooze and it has 1 melee attack at 3 sped and 3 health with slow ability.

  • Slow - Every enemy monster gets -1 speed.

image.png

CURSED SLIMEBALL

Cursed slimeball is my brand new death card and I bought it recently at a decent cheap rate. I have a max one and it carries 2 melee attack at 3 speed and with 4 health. It has an awesome next-generation ability redemption which forced me to use it in the last position.

  • Redemption - when a monster having this ability dies, every opponent monster get 1 damage.

First, let us follow the opponent's line-up...

  • My opponent @kaka010 used Water summoner Alric Stormbringer against me.
  • At the front position, he used Sea Monster lev 6.
  • At the second position, he used Grumpy Dwarf level 5.
  • At the third position, he puts Creeping Ooze lev 5.
  • At the last position, he chose Spineback Turtle level 4.

Battle Link

Well, first of all, I would say that my opponent's front defence was very strong. His Sea monster could be enough to kill my whole deck if I have chosen a small monster the front but the wind was blowing to my side and my Bone Golem outrun his Sea monster by repairing his shield back to back. In the meantime, the Pegasus helped my golem by healing his health every round. So, the Heal + Reair abilities together gave me a great combo. Guys!!! Looks like I have made a new strategy, Immortal Bone Golem !!

Well, I have to admit my opponent wasn't using max cards on me and that's the cause I have won the match. But I am certain that untamed death cards have great potential in the battleground. If I get successful to make a max level Mimosa and Dark Ha'on, I m quite sure I can rule the champion ground. Or am I just overthinking?
