⚠️ A Real-Life Scam Incident at My Working Place

Hello👋 Hive family, I’m excited to share another real-life experience with you today.

Scammers are becoming more creative every day, using technology to trick innocent people. I witnessed this first-hand in my workplace, and it opened my eyes even more.

On a faithful day,

I was attending to customers as usual when a well-known woman walked in. She told me that she received a strange call from a new number. The caller claimed to be her relative, but she openly admitted to me that she couldn’t remember such a person. The caller then asked her to go to a POS 📠 shop and hand the phone to the shop owner.

Her statement gave me confidence that something was wrong, so I decided to pay close attention. The man called again,

and this time I picked up the phone.

“Are you the POS man?” he asked.

“Yes,” I replied.

Then he quickly said, “That woman there is my sister. She will give you cash to deposit

into my account.”

This was completely opposite to what the woman had told me earlier 🤔. So I turned up the phone’s volume, stayed calm, and asked him to repeat himself. Meanwhile, I made sure the woman was listening carefully.

The man kept applying pressure, calling out his account details—asking me to deposit ₦45,000 into his account. At that moment, the woman whispered to me: “This wasn’t what he told me, don’t send him any money!”

Her statement confirmed my suspicion

—it was a scam attempt!

Immediately, I ended the call and explained to her that scammers are now using this new trick to deceive people, especially those who are not very familiar with technology. She was shocked 😲 and thanked me for helping her realize on time.

This incident reminded me how important it is to always be vigilant, double-check every claim, and never rush when money is involved. Scammers may change their methods, but with wisdom and awareness, we can outsmart them.

I am glad you notice it fast if not that woman will explain and no evidence to prove her innocence after you sent the money.

We need to be very smart and wise as well. Scammers are all over looking for someone to reap from.

Exactly, 🙌 You’re absolutely right. If I wasn’t careful, it would have been a big problem for her. Truly, we need to be wise and smart because scammers are everywhere. Thank you so much for your insightful comment 🙏.

I have also heard something like this too, one need to be Cara especially Pos operators.

Exactly, You’re very right 👍. POS operators need to be extra careful because scammers are really targeting them these days. Staying alert and double-checking every detail is the best way to avoid falling victim.
