Aqua purification pay off, healthy environment

A few weeks ago I uploaded a blog post about the aqua purification system that has been developed to catch storm water pollution from roads and act as a barrier to prevent toxic sediment and rubbish from spilling into clean waterways. You can read the post and see the images

What I didn't provide was the other side of the cleaning taking place and what it has created for the entire community. I still plan on flying my drone over head when I get a chance so everyone can get a better look at it. However, for the meantime I took these on the ground images so we can see what the cleaning process has created.

The above image is the inlet from the aqua purification damns which are regularly cleaning. The water flows into a giant lake as clean water, not clean enough to drink but clean enough to enjoy and sustain the wild life.

Adjacent are some small boat or rowing dispatching piers for locals to practise rowing or Kayaking, even wake boarding is permissible and at current the local government is investigating initiatives that will support locals utilise the lake more. Perhaps even skiing?

A kids play ground also surrounds the lake with open space for cricket, football or even just a picnic.

Larger recreational boats are permitted to launch from the lake with a concrete boat ramp supplied and a larger pair for docking and boarding. I would like to see a paddle steamer or sorts operating from this area as it would greatly increase community enjoyment especially in warmer months.

The cleaner water has seen a flurry of native wild life remain in the area where typically when developing areas it would cause a significant amount of habitat destruction and the deforestation of native plants. Habitat loss also contributes to dwindling native wild life populations. As humans I don't think we like to see this occur which is great to see shared spaces for both human enjoyment as well as native habitation.

The above image is an image I used on the previous post it describes what is occurring and I would highly recommend checking out the previous post as it's a really great initiative and I love the fact rubbish is captured and prevented from contaminating the local water ways.

Do you have anything like this in the cities you reside in?

Thank you, I really appreciate that. It's a great community and I'm trying to plan my next drone adventure. Well places I am legally allowed to fly.

If only we could incorporate this catchment system for clean waterways everywhere in the world. Having large open green spaces and a clean lake for water sports elevate the quality of living in any community.

I agree, it is a great asset to any community and it is a place that I love to visit often. My daughter also enjoys visiting although I am not sure what the quality of the water is like and if you can swim in it. But if nature is surviving it must be safe. Perhaps some tests are in order.

Looks like it's working well.

Yes it's done quite well for the local environment, they do dry the sediment out prior to moving it so once a year there is a slight smell but nothing too noticeable

The water purification initiative that your municipality has been working on has finally reaped its rewards! Now, who wouldn't want to enjoy the cleanliness and freshness of the lakes, streams, and other aquatic environments that make life better for the community? This is one example of an excellent urban design feature that all thriving communities must incorporate into their city planning systems. Mother Nature knows best! Great post!

Thank you, it definitely helps build better communities for everyone.

I've been thinking about getting a paddle board, I would love to paddle around the lake, it would be great fun.

Oh yes, that would be super! For me, maybe I'd just go fishing to pass my lazy weekend afternoon...haha

Awesome, thank you for swinging past. I'll definitely look into your community, I have seen it and I know I'll have plenty to add to it in a years time once we build out home

The title of this post caught my attention. I have heard about this for quite some time but I've never seen one as beautiful as this. It became like a park yet it serves a purpose. I am curious if the animals like that shown in the photos are just free to roam or is someone taking care of it?

The animals are free to roam however, people do often visit and feed them scraps and seeds.

The wild population has been growing ever since these forms of water ways have been implemented. It's great!
