My favorite building in Lviv. (UA/EN)

Hi to all. Today, for the first time, I am posting to this community. I want to share photos and a story about my favorite church of Olga and Elizabeth.
I have lived in this area for over 30 years. My district is called Zaliznychny, popularly called Pryvokzalna.
The main architectural structure in my area is the Church of Saints Olga and Elizabeth. The church was built in the 19th century, in a neo-Gothic table. The height of the church is 88 meters. The sharp spiers of this building can be seen from all parts of my area. Because the church is the tallest building in the city.
It is said that the construction of the church was to close the view of another church - St. George's Cathedral, which stands on another street on the hill. Perhaps that is why the church has such grandeur.

I will not go into the historical events of this building. You can read them online. I just want to point out that the Church was also founded in memory of Elizabeth (known as Sisi), her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph. This is a very romantic story. Perhaps that is why such beautiful lines on the windows of the temple. I consider sometimes for a long time. The parts are so multilevel that it is difficult to cover everything at a glance. I always see something more refined. Going around the church from all sides, I can view and enjoy its beauty at any time of year. In the morning, when I hurry to work, I see spiers in the fog, and they are difficult to see. In clear weather, the church looks brighter, the walls become lighter, green roofs add tenderness to this ensemble. In the evening the building becomes stricter. And when crows "croak" in the trees near the park, the church becomes even a little scary. Thanks to modern trends in lighting of ancient architectural structures, churches, houses, the lights are turned on in the evening. I sometimes wait with bated breath for this

You can enjoy the photo. I made them on my smartphone. I think a professional camera would be better. I hope that my photos at least a little made you immerse yourself in my vision of this building.
I think to myself, how many people pass here every day, looking at their feet, and do not see this beauty. People are concerned about everyday life. Waiting for a certain moment! And she is here and now. Beauty is nearby, you just need to be able to see it.

Most recently, I was lucky enough to visit the observation deck of the church. Honestly, climbing to its height is not easy. The spiral staircase did not end and led me and my son up. The height to which we climbed 55 meters. I saw the power of this structure from the inside. My son was exhausted from the climb. But we still went to the observation deck of the tower.

20210331_201015.jpg

From above, the city seemed bustling. People were in a hurry, as always on business. Cars signal and create traffic jams. And trams! This will probably be a separate post about the Lviv tram.

20210331_195530.jpg

20210331_195625.jpg

The city of Lviv stretches around. My city! In the distance, I saw the High Castle and the TV tower on it, St. George's Cathedral, and these colored roofs of century-old houses in my area. Although between the old houses grew modern high-rises. My son and I enjoy what we saw on the church tower. I tried to look at my home, or at least the street where I have lived all my life.

20210331_195813.jpg

And today, as my son and I were walking, we saw mountains of cobblestones around my favorite church, Olga and Elizabeth. These large stones prevented me from perceiving the architecture of the building. The entrance was also postponed during the reconstruction of the road around the church. After all, this road leads to the train station, and is important for both residents and tourists. I was struck by these stones. I tried to lift one of them. He weighed at least two kilograms. And it was a stone of medium size. I noticed that all the stones are different in size and color. The side that people walked on for many years had a velvety hue.
It is possible that carriages used to ride on them in ancient times.
The historic cobblestones of Lviv give the city an ancient look.

20210503_211727.jpg

It was evening. And all construction equipment was already resting. But my son and I decided to still see everything around the church. Yesterday such a neat square. And today it seemed a ruin. Mountains of cobblestones, pits dug by excavators, impassability and crossings to the other side of the street on the made bridge. The inconveniences I see today must be a good way in the future.
And so I had a question.
And how many such reconstructions did the Church see from its height?

20210503_211641.jpg

My son looked at everything with interest. He liked construction tractors the most. He wanted to see their work. My little man.
And I saw that the church of St. Olga and Elizabeth, and today had a beautiful view. He is the adornment of my city at all times!
