¡Hola amigos lectores! En el día de hoy me pasó por acá para hablarles de mi primera lectura terminada este año: Karma al instante de Marissa Meyer.
Seguro se acordarán de que siempre les hablo de esta autora. Su saga más conocida es la de Crónicas Lunares.
Esta historia de las que les voy a dar mi opinión es una comedia romántica juvenil de un solo libro.

Hello fellow readers! Today I stopped by to tell you about my first finished read this year: Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer.
I'm sure you will remember that I always talk about this author. Her best known saga is the Lunar Chronicles.
This story of which I am going to give you my opinion is a one book juvenile romantic comedy.

¿De qué trata? - What is it about?

Karma al instante nos narra la vida de Prudence Barnett, una joven muy responsable con sus estudios que siempre quiere obtener la mejor calificación y está acostumbrada a hacer todo por su cuenta, le cuesta delegar y eso se hace notar cuando en la clase de biología la hacen trabajar con un chico, Quint Erickson, que parece ser un tanto despreocupado e irresponsable con sus estudios. Lo que termina por sacar de quicio a Prudence.
Un día, en un karaoke, Prudence cantó la canción Instant Karma de John Lennon y, al bajar del escenario, tiene una fuerte caída. Al cobrar el conocimiento sucesos raros comienzan a pasarle cada vez que ve una injusticia y se da cuenta que el universo la recompensó con el don de repartir karma a las personas. Sin embargo, su don es inmune a la irresponsabilidad y la falta de consideración de Quint, es más, parece recompensarlo. Pero lo que Prudence no sabe es que hay una razón por la que esto sucede y pronto lo terminará descubriendo.

Instant Karma narrates the life of Prudence Barnett, a young woman very responsible with her studies who always wants to get the best grade and is used to do everything on her own, it is difficult for her to delegate and that becomes noticeable when in biology class she is made to work with a boy, Quint Erickson, who seems to be somewhat carefree and irresponsible with his studies. Which ends up getting on Prudence's nerves.
One day, at a karaoke, Prudence sings the song Instant Karma by John Lennon and, when she gets off the stage, she has a hard fall. As she regains consciousness, strange events begin to happen to her every time she sees an injustice and she realizes that the universe has rewarded her with the gift of delivering karma to people. However, her gift is immune to Quint's irresponsibility and lack of consideration, indeed, it seems to reward him. But what Prudence doesn't know is that there is a reason why this happens and she will soon find out.

Opinión - Opinion

Es un libro ideal para leer en el verano, acá en mi país lo es, así que me vino bárbaro para esta época. Es una historia que esconde mucho más de lo que pueden deducir por la sinopsis y mi breve resumen. Nos habla del ecosistema marino, del medio ambiente, del cuidado de los animales marinos, de reciclaje, ecoturismo y todo lo que ayude a estas indefensas criaturas a mejorar su hábitat. También podemos ver cómo funciona una ONG; además tendremos que sacar nuestro lado detectivesco porque las donaciones que les llegan parecen esfumarse de la nada, lo que implica que alguien se las esta robando. No soy muy buena en esto pero es bastante predecible, así que seguro se dan cuenta a mitad del libro qué es lo que está pasando y lo que podría suceder más adelante.

It is an ideal book to read in the summer, here in my country it is, so it was great for this time of the year. It is a story that hides much more than you can deduce from the synopsis and my brief summary. It tells us about the marine ecosystem, the environment, the care of marine animals, recycling, ecotourism and everything that helps these defenseless creatures to improve their habitat. We can also see how an NGO works; we will also have to bring out our detective side because the donations that come to them seem to vanish out of nowhere, which implies that someone is stealing them. I'm not very good at this but it's pretty predictable, so I'm sure you realize halfway through the book what's going on and what might happen later on.

Mi parte favorita fue conocer más acerca del ecosistema marino, las focas, los lobos marinos, las tortugas y las nutrias, son criaturitas muy lindas, incluso los tiburones a los que les tengo terror igual que Prudence. Me imaginaba todo el escenario cuando se describía cómo fueron encontrados muchos de estos animales, varados y lastimados, aquellos que necesitaban atención inmediata. Hay una historia sobre un lobo marino que fue encontrado con muchos anzuelos clavados en el cuerpo, eso me puso muy triste porque sé que es verdad. Estas cosas suceden.

My favorite part was learning more about the marine ecosystem, the seals, sea lions, turtles and otters, they are cute little creatures, even the sharks which I am terrified of just like Prudence. I imagined the whole scenario when describing how many of these animals were found, stranded and injured, those in need of immediate attention. There is a story about a sea lion that was found with many hooks stuck in its body, that made me very sad because I know it is true. These things happen.

Aparte de todo esto es una historia divertida, aunque al principio debo confesarles que me fastidiaba la actitud de Prudence, me caía muy mal porque era muy petulante, se quejaba de que los otros eran desconsiderados con ella, pero nunca se ponía en sus zapatos. Solo pensaba en ella. Lo bueno es que a medida que avanzaban las páginas se podía ver un cambio en su comportamiento y su manera de pensar. Fue un personaje que creció, y al final la termine defendiendo y poniéndome mal por algo que le hicieron que fue muy injusto.

Apart from all this it is a funny story, although at the beginning I must confess that I was annoyed by Prudence's attitude, I disliked her very much because she was very petulant, she complained that others were inconsiderate with her, but she never put herself in her shoes. She only thought about herself. The good thing is that as the pages progressed you could see a change in her behavior and her way of thinking. She was a character that grew, and in the end I ended up defending her and getting upset about something that was done to her that was very unfair.

También debo decir que creo que el motivo por el que me caía mal es porque vi algunas actitudes mías reflejadas en ella. Vieron que dicen que solemos criticar del otro lo que vemos reflejado en nosotros, bueno, algo por el estilo. También me cuesta delegar y pienso que nada sale mejor que cuando lo hago yo misma, aunque no soy de prejuzgar, ni tampoco tan terca como ella jajaja.

I should also say that I think the reason I disliked her is because I saw some of my own attitudes reflected in her. You saw that they say that we tend to criticize the other person what we see reflected in ourselves, well, something like that. I also find it hard to delegate and I think that nothing comes out better than when I do it myself, although I am not prejudiced, nor as stubborn as her hahaha.

Es un libro que me transmitió bastantes emociones como podrán apreciar. Me encantó el don de repartir buen o mal karma según la persona. Es bastante interesante, aunque es una gran responsabilidad también. Sobre todo para una adolescente.
Además, si les gustan los Beatles podrán ver su influencia a lo largo de estas páginas, los padres de Prudence son fanáticos y nombraron a todos sus hijos como algunas de sus canciones. Prudence tiene un hermano mellizo llamado Jude, y tres hermanas pequeñas, Penny, Lucy y Ellie.
Y, por supuesto, tiene su historia romántica, aunque en una proporción pequeña pero significativa.

It is a book that transmitted quite a few emotions to me as you will appreciate. I loved the gift of delivering good or bad karma depending on the person. It's quite interesting, although it's a big responsibility as well. Especially for a teenager.

Also, if you like the Beatles you can see their influence throughout these pages, Prudence's parents are fans and named all their children after some of their songs. Prudence has a twin brother named Jude, and three little sisters, Penny, Lucy and Ellie.
And, of course, she has her romantic history, albeit in a small but significant proportion.

En definitiva es un buen libro que seguro en algún momento volveré a releer. Se los recomiendo y a esta autora también, ahora estoy a la caza de otro de sus libros que fue publicado en mi país este mes llamado Gilded, suena interesante.

All in all it is a good book that I will surely reread at some point. I recommend it and this author too, now I'm on the hunt for another of her books that was published in my country this month called Gilded, it sounds interesting.
