Mi mejor lectura de enero // My best reading in January

¡Hola amigos lectores! En el día de hoy les traigo la reseña del que ya estoy convencida que es de mis mejores lecturas del año: Part of Your World de Abby Jimenez.

Hello fellow readers! Today I bring you the review of what I am already convinced is one of my best reads of the year: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez.

Esta es la primera vez que leo algo de la autora y quedé fascinada con esta historia. La verdad es que a veces leo más de un libro a la vez, casi seguro que uno en físico y otro en e-book. A principios de enero me puse a buscar qué podía leer en digital y di con este libro, leí la sinopsis y no me dijo mucho, me pareció un libro normal. Pero decidí darle una oportunidad porque había una cabra en la portada (sí, ya saben que los animales me pueden) y se hacía una leve mención a ella en la sinopsis, un pueblo y una historia de amor. Así que con eso ya me tuvo, me alegra haberle hecho caso a mi intuición.

This is the first time I read something by the author and I was fascinated with this story. The truth is that sometimes I read more than one book at a time, almost certainly one in physical and one in e-book. At the beginning of January I started looking for what I could read in digital and I found this book, I read the synopsis and it didn't tell me much, it seemed like a normal book. But I decided to give it a chance because there was a goat on the cover (yes, you know animals get to me) and there was a slight mention of it in the synopsis, a town and a love story. So that had me, I'm glad I followed my intuition.

Alexis es una mujer que carga con el peso de su apellido, ser una Montgomery es un gran privilegio, o lo sería si pudiera tomar sus propias elecciones sin tener a su padre autoritario mandando en su vida y una madre que no hace nada para apoyarla. Su hermano, Derek, se cansó de vivir bajo este mandato y decidió seguir a su corazón, dejando a Alexis cargar con todo. Ante la decepción de su padre por este hecho, como la última Montgomery en la línea del Royaume Northwestern, un prestigioso hospital que hace 125 años cuenta con un Montgomery entre sus filas, se ve en la obligación de continuar con la tradición. Sin embargo, en un momento para nada oportuno, termina quedando atascada en una zanja en un pueblito; allí la va a socorrer un hombre llamado Daniel, que se convertirá en la razón por la que Alexis se sienta entre la espada y la pared: seguir el mandato familiar y todo lo que ello conlleve o quedarse en Wakan junto al hombre que ama.

Alexis is a woman who carries the weight of her family name, being a Montgomery is a great privilege, or it would be if she could make her own choices without having her overbearing father running her life and a mother who does nothing to support her. Her brother, Derek, grew tired of living under this rule and decided to follow his heart, leaving Alexis to carry everything. Faced with her father's disappointment at this fact, as the last Montgomery in the line at Royaume Northwestern, a prestigious hospital that 125 years ago counted a Montgomery among its ranks, she is forced to carry on the tradition. However, at the wrong time, she ends up stuck in a ditch in a small town, where she is rescued by a man named Daniel, who will become the reason why Alexis is caught between a rock and a hard place: follow the family mandate and all that it entails or stay in Wakan with the man she loves.

Daniel siempre vivió en Wakan, su familia formó su propio legado al hacerse cargo del pueblo desde hace 125 años, los Grant son el corazón de este lugar, y ahora le corresponde a Daniel mantener el orden. Sin embargo, su vida va a cambiar cuando se cruce con esta mujer misteriosa que no le quiere decir mucho de su vida, no sabe su apellido, ni dónde vive, ni cuál es su profesión. Lo único que sabe es que la magia está en el aire desde que la conoció y la conexión que sintió con ella desde el primer instante es muy real y no hace más que crecer a medida que pasa el tiempo.

Daniel has always lived in Wakan, his family formed their own legacy by taking over the town 125 years ago, the Grants are the heart of this place, and now it is up to Daniel to keep order. However, his life is about to change when he comes across this mysterious woman who doesn't want to tell him much about her life, he doesn't know her last name, where she lives, or what her profession is. The only thing he knows is that magic is in the air since he met her and the connection he felt with her from the first moment is very real and only grows as time goes by.

Pero hay obstáculos en el medio, las vidas de Alexis y Daniel parecen no encajar entre sí y saben que al final no funcionara, aunque prefieren arriesgarse y disfrutar el tiempo que les quede juntos.

But there are obstacles in between, Alexis and Daniel's lives don't seem to fit together and they know it won't work out in the end, but they'd rather take a chance and enjoy the time they have left together.

Opinión - Opinion

Bueno, este libro se perfila para ser uno de mis favoritos de este año. Sé que recién terminó enero y faltan muchos meses todavía, pero tengan por seguro que va a aparecer en mi top five aquí cuando cierre el año.
Es un libro que me hizo sentir muchas emociones, la verdad que no sé qué esperaba cuando lo empecé a leer, pero superó todas mis expectativas. Me encontré con una historia muy bien contada, con un montón de mensajes importantes que dar, está todo muy bien planteado. Podemos encontrarnos con abuso emocional y físico, padres abandónicos, relaciones abusivas, amistades tóxicas y por conveniencia, enfermedades mentales como la depresión. Tiene bastante condimento para hacerla una lectura más que interesante.

Well, this book is shaping up to be one of my favorites of this year. I know that January has just ended and there are still many months to go, but you can be sure that it will appear in my top five here when I close the year.
It is a book that made me feel many emotions, the truth is that I don't know what I expected when I started reading it, but it exceeded all my expectations. I found myself with a very well told story, with a lot of important messages to give, it is all very well raised. We can find emotional and physical abuse, abandoning parents, abusive relationships, toxic friendships and friendships of convenience, mental illnesses such as depression. It has enough spice to make it a more than interesting read.

Está narrado desde los dos puntos de vista, el de Alexis y Daniel, esto es genial porque podemos conocer los sentimientos de los dos por igual y ver cómo son sus vidas fuera de cuando están juntos. Ninguno la tiene fácil, ambos cargan con sus propias historias que necesitan sanar. Lo que sí está claro es que ninguno pasó desapercibido para el otro, fue muy lindo leer cómo se construye esta relación, ambos se ayudaron a sobrellevar sus cargas.

It is told from both Alexis' and Daniel's points of view, this is great because we get to know the feelings of both equally and see what their lives are like outside of when they are together. Neither has it easy, both carry their own stories that need to heal. What is clear is that neither went unnoticed by the other, it was very nice to read how this relationship is built, both helped each other cope with their burdens.

Algo que me gustó mucho es que es una historia bastante predecible, pero de todos modos se las ingenio para hacerme sufrir junto con sus personajes, las lágrimas no faltaron, y la mayoría de las veces fue porque quedé absorbida por el dolor que estaban sintiendo los protagonistas. Me lograron meter en esta historia de una manera impresionante, empatice mucho con ellos y con lo que estaban viviendo. Tomé sus dolores como los míos.
Sin embargo, a pesar de ser predecible y saber que un libro así no podría terminar de otra manera, no tenía ni idea de cómo iban a llegar a ese punto, al de cuando todo se arregla al aparecer una solución mágica. Las páginas iban pasando y me preguntaba todo el tiempo esto, qué pasará para que lo hagan funcionar.

Something that I liked a lot is that it is a very predictable story, but anyway they managed to make me suffer along with their characters, the tears were not lacking, and most of the time it was because I was absorbed by the pain that the protagonists were feeling. They managed to get me into this story in an impressive way, I empathized a lot with them and with what they were going through. I took their pain as my own.
However, despite being predictable and knowing that a book like this couldn't end any other way, I had no idea how they were going to get to that point, the one where everything is fixed when a magical solution appears. The pages were turning and I was wondering all the while this, what will happen to make it work.

Por supuesto que el final fue de mi agrado, y siento que es una historia que se va a quedar conmigo por mucho tiempo. Además, me gustó la manera de escribir de esta autora, no la conocía, y ahora me encantaría leer más libros de ella. Sé que hay un libro que trata sobre la historia de la mejor amiga de Alexis, así que quizá empiece por ese, y para ver si aparece este par.

Of course the ending was to my liking, and I feel that this is a story that will stay with me for a long time. Also, I liked this author's way of writing, I didn't know her, and now I would love to read more books by her. I know there is a book that is about Alexis' best friend's story, so maybe I'll start with that one, and to see if this pair pops up.

Bueno, invito a todos a leer este libro, está muy bueno. Realmente aborda bien todos los temas planteados y es una historia con bastante magia. Adoré a los protagonistas y a los personajes del pueblo (menos Jake); a Bri, la mejor amiga de Alexis; y a todos los adorables animalitos que hicieron acto de presencia.

Well, I invite everyone to read this book, it is very good. It really addresses all the issues raised well and it's a story with quite a bit of magic. I adored the main characters and the characters in town (minus Jake); Bri, Alexis' best friend; and all the adorable little animals that made an appearance.
