Saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad, ¿cómo están? Llegado a este punto después de algunas reseñas de libros sobre historia que traído para la comunidad, creo que pueden apreciar que es un tipo de lectura de la cual disfruto y en mi posesión tengo unos cuantos, este siendo uno de mis preferidos, porque enfoca desde una perspectiva distinta la vida de María Antonia Bolívar, quien fue hermana de uno de los personajes históricos más importantes de toda Latinoamérica, Simón Bolívar. Puede que también se haya ganado un espacio en mi corazón porque tuve la gran oportunidad de conseguir la firma de la autora, Inés Quintero, gracias a la participación de uno de los mejores profesores que he tenido en la universidad puesto que la conoce personalmente. Desde que lo empecé por primera vez me fue imposible soltarlo porque la forma en que son narrados los hechos es de fácil comprensión y tiene un enganche porque parecieran haberse contados en mitad de una tarde acompañados de una buena taza de café, aunque a muchas personas no les gusta el chisme, dentro de las que me incluyo, es innegable la sensación de sabor que le agrega a situaciones que son especialmente turbulentas porque se tratan de amoríos.

At this point after some reviews of books on history that I brought for the community, I think you can appreciate that it is a type of reading that I enjoy and in my possession I have a few, this being one of my favorites, because it focuses from a different perspective the life of Maria Antonia Bolivar, who was the sister of one of the most important historical figures of all Latin America, Simon Bolivar. It may also have won a place in my heart because I had the great opportunity to get the signature of the author, Inés Quintero, thanks to the participation of one of the best professors I have had in college since he knows her personally. Since I started it for the first time it was impossible for me to put it down because the way the facts are narrated is easy to understand and has a hook because they seem to have been told in the middle of an afternoon accompanied by a good cup of coffee, although many people do not like gossip, among which I include myself, it is undeniable the feeling of flavor that adds to situations that are especially turbulent because they are about love affairs.
Por lo general cuando se trata de historia, se tiende a dejar de lado la vida personal de los personajes involucrados porque adquieren mayor relevancia determinados hechos como su participación dentro de conflictos bélicos y su impacto en la sociedad, quedando en el olvido lo demás. Es por ello que admiro el trabajo de una de los mejores historiadores de mi país, como lo es esta autora, que a través de investigar y revisar esos documentos que van quedando registrados pueden llegar a descifrar qué fue lo que pasó en un momento específico, llevándolo a un formato escrito disfrutable para no solamente aprender, sino entretenernos al mismo tiempo. A ver, las conquistas que el denominado Libertador consiguió en su vida son interesantes, de eso no hay duda, todos los libros que hablan sobre esto son prueba, pero ¿uno que hable sobre una hermana y la relación de esta con un hombre criollo treinta y cinco años más joven? ¡Eso sí que no lo había visto! Esto sin mencionar que este romance se muestra solamente como el inicio, la sociedad caraqueña de la época tendría la oportunidad de presenciar un juicio, porque en efecto, hubo un juicio, y una gran parte del libro se centrará en el mismo debido a la acusación de María Antonia Bolívar hacia su enamorado de haberle robado dinero…
In general, when it comes to history, the personal lives of the people involved tend to be left aside because certain facts, such as their participation in military conflicts and their impact on society, become more relevant, leaving the rest in oblivion. That is why I admire the work of one of the best historians in my country, such as this author, who through research and review of these documents that are recorded can decipher what happened at a specific time, taking it to an enjoyable written format to not only learn, but entertain us at the same time. Let's see, the conquests that the so-called Liberator achieved in his life are interesting, there is no doubt about that, all the books that talk about this are proof, but one that talks about a sister and her relationship with a Creole man thirty-five years younger? I had not seen that one! Not to mention that this romance is only shown as the beginning, the Caracas society of the time would have the opportunity to witness a trial, because indeed, there was a trial, and a large part of the book will focus on it due to the accusation of Maria Antonia Bolivar towards her lover of having stolen money...

¿Eso fue cierto? No, la realidad es que no. Parece ser que eso de las acusaciones falsas por despecho y celos no son temas de la actualidad nada más, cualquier podría pensar que las personas de la clase pudiente por aquellos días tenían al honor como estandarte, considerando que habían demasiadas normas morales dentro de la sociedad por consecuencia de la importancia de la religión, pero seguían siendo seres humanos que cometían errores, uno de ellos dejarse llevar por sus sentimientos y no por la objetividad. Con esto me refiero a su decisión de intentar dañar a José Ignacio Padrón quien fue su enamorado, utilizando al sistema de justicia en su contra sin que existiesen razones, acusándolo de un delito que no cometió, y pretendiendo usar su posición como impulso para prosperar en su cometido. De cualquier manera, me parece que este joven sí se aprovechó de los sentimientos que María Antonia Bolívar tenía por el para sacarle dinero aunque en determinado momento marcó un límite al no seguir aceptando esas intenciones, sorprendiéndome lo romántica que pudo llegar a ser esta mujer en las cartas dirigidas a un hombre que no le correspondía, donde se puede llegar a sentir la nostalgia y el dolor con los cuales se dirige hacia este incluso después del problema.

It seems that false accusations out of spite and jealousy are not current issues anymore, anyone could think that people of the wealthy class in those days had honor as a banner, considering that there were too many moral standards within society as a result of the importance of religion, but they were still human beings who made mistakes, one of them was to be carried away by their feelings and not by objectivity. By this I am referring to her decision to try to harm José Ignacio Padrón who was her lover, using the justice system against him without any reason, accusing him of a crime he did not commit, and pretending to use her position as an impulse to prosper in her task. In any case, it seems to me that this young man did take advantage of the feelings that María Antonia Bolívar had for him to get money out of her, although at a certain moment he set a limit because he did not continue accepting those intentions, surprising me how romantic this woman could be in the letters addressed to a man who did not correspond to her, where you can feel the nostalgia and pain with which she addresses him even after the problem.
Amor, amistad, traición, deslealtad, soberbia, poesía, mentira, celos y demás pueden encontrarse acá contados con la delicadeza de una historiadora de calidad que sabe cómo mantener entretenido al lector, mientras va desenredando todo el material encontrado hasta llegar a la verdad. Es demasiado sencillo que el tiempo vuelva nada ciertos hechos que se presentaron hace años si no quedan registros de lo que pasó, en aquella época donde no había tanta facilidad como la que nos ha proporcionado todo el avance tecnológico, que quedara constancia de estas situaciones tan interesantes tenía mucha dificultad, pero siempre habrá algo de lo que aferrarse y con lo que poder darnos vueltas por el pasado, para saber que las ‘sugar mommy’ también existían dentro de los años 1800. Dejando las bromas de lado, recomiendo esta lectura si les gusta la historia y quieren saber lo que era capaz de hacer una mujer de sociedad cuando sus sentimientos eran lastimados, con un juicio con mucha personalidad del cual se registraron inclusive los interrogatorios que podremos leer acá mostrando a María Antonia Bolívar negando lo innegable como toda una experta, sin que le importaran la cantidad de pruebas que se habían recopilado en su contra.
Love, friendship, betrayal, disloyalty, arrogance, poetry, lies, jealousy and others can be found here told with the delicacy of a quality historian who knows how to keep the reader entertained, while unraveling all the material found until the truth is discovered. It is too easy for time to turn certain events that occurred years ago into nothing if there are no records of what happened, at a time when it was not as easy as all the technological advances that have provided us, to keep a record of these interesting situations was very difficult, but there will always be something to hold on to and with which we can go around the past, to know that the 'sugar mommy' also existed in the 1800s. All jokes aside, I recommend this read if you like history and want to know what a society woman was capable of doing when her feelings were hurt, with a trial with a lot of personality that even recorded the interrogations that we can read here showing Maria Antonia Bolivar denying the undeniable like an expert, without caring about the amount of evidence that had been collected against her.
