Thrift Book Store

I'd say there are many paradises on earth. One of it is thrift book store.

Thrift book store often has rare editions of books and limited edition books. When I was in high school, I spent about 3 days going from one book thrift store to another just to find some interesting books to read. One of my most memorable read is Java programming language handbook. I had a laptop then but I was clueless on how to code, let alone know what CLI was. But I read that book and memorized parts of the book. And was it useful? it used to be.

During my school days, whenever I needed some extra pocket money, I went to thrift book stores to sell my school textbooks. School textbooks are less valuable to me because they contain less useful information than a specific book talking about specific subject. Sometimes, in exchange of my old school text-books, I would get some books on programming or a book from advanced classes than mine.

I think that thrift store owner doesn't know how rich he is despite the place looking shabby. I still remember the place was dusty and if the older me went there, I'd probably get sick. Yet when I was younger, that place is one of the places I visited frequently other than the city's library.

As an adult, I have visited some thrift store books in another provinces. However, it does not appeal to me anymore as I would rather go to the normal bookstore. I suppose a lot of me has changed and things I used to love, is no longer something I enjoy. But after taking that picture, once again, I feel curious about the place. Maybe I'll give it a go one more time.

I have always enjoyed visiting any establishment that sells books, no matter if it is a bookstore, a second hand store, or some old man selling his books on a street corner.... I think used books deserve to have a second chance to have a home, to be read and enjoyed by someone else; and I agree with you, you can find very interesting books, even some rare or limited editions, it's just a matter of knowing how to look for them!

Couldn't agree more!

This is a wonderful place! I like how they used every available inch of space to showcase the books. It gives the bookstore a fun and cozy vibe.

Haha yeah but also god knows how many dust mites are there 😅

Get on back in there :) I love these types of shops because they breathe character. New book shops feel so plastic and like a hospital to me haha. I love looking around at books and sometimes buying classics. Just think of where those books have been around the world. If use books could talk they'd have quite some stories I think.

we don't have thrift stores here for books, but now that you've mentioned it, I think they do.

There this one I go to, old books, classics, school books, everything. People probably gave them out, but they resell it now for way cheaper price. I got my Dan brown from there.

I am planning on opening something are this, completely non profit. A book store where people would pay by writing book reviews and discussing books. See how that goes anyways
😁

Sounds like hive book club except it's no book store 🤣
