Hello, pretty people of Hive, today I want to share with you a couple of books that will always have a special place in my heart, they are a couple of stories focused on a child audience, but what makes them special is not only their content, but because they were both gifts from my mom at Christmas (a few years ago). For as long as I can remember my family has cultivated in me a love for reading, so no matter how many times I've been given books, it will always be a special gift for me.
I recently took them out of my small bookcase, what I felt when I saw these books again was pure nostalgia, it's been a while since I haven't read them again, but the story is still almost intact in my mind.
Cupid is a Bat
Written by María Fernanda Heredia, a Mexican writer, this book is aimed at children from 11 years old and up, and is about the life of Javier, a little boy who has changed schools a lot due to his parents' jobs so he expects this to be just another school, but something new happens: love hits him in the face, literally! He enters the girls' bathroom by mistake and finds one of the prettiest girls he has ever seen in his life: Ángeles, who, out of shock, slams the bathroom door and hits him in the nose, causing him to bleed heavily... From that incident on, Ángeles makes him go through embarrassing situations, and poor Javier can't help but see her as an angel. Another important character in this story is Isabel, Javier's faithful friend since the first day of school, and although they go through some situations that make them distance themselves for a while, they realize how important they are for each other in their lives, and that love can come in very spontaneous ways, being so cupido is not a cute baby, but an ugly bat that can turn your first love story, in a tale of love and pain..
This story is a lot of fun, seriously, every chapter gets a smile or a laugh out of me, and it's very quick to read, it's only 160 pages, but the pace of the reading is smooth. Also, I like that it's narrated by Javier, so everything that happens has the childish and innocent touch of a 12 year old boy. Cupido is a bat is a story I would recommend to many children, it is written in a simple way, my younger siblings read it, and they both loved it (I would say they have read this book more times than me), which makes me feel very happy that it has also captivated their hearts.
In the Deepest Lagoon.
Ok, I have to say that this book made me cry my eyes out. I remember reading it a couple of times, and both times I had to get a tissue because it is inevitable that this book will not make me sentimental.
Its author is Oscar Collazos, a Colombian writer and has a great journey in literature and journalism; this particular book was written in 2011, and is narrated by Alexandra, a very cheerful girl, who likes to spend time with her family, especially with her grandmother, who has always been a very strong lady and who liked to spend time with her grandchildren.... Things started to get weird when grandma started to forget some things, at first it was small details like not knowing where she had left her glasses, or not finding the pair of shoes she was going to wear; but then she began to wear outrageous combinations of clothes, she confused the names of her grandchildren, and then she lost herself for hours and hours in her own mental lagoon, she didn't speak, she didn't eat much, nor did she answer Alexandra's questions, but she, reluctant to let her forget who she was, tried to show her photographs and tell her anecdotes of when she was younger.
Well, I think it is very obvious why this story made me so sad, since we are introduced to Mamamenchu (as Alexandra used to call her grandmother), we immediately empathize with her and the beautiful relationship she had with her granddaughter, they were like friends, and I am sure many people can identify with that. It is a touching story, with a sad ending, but it invites us to appreciate our loved ones, time goes by fast and there are diseases that are inevitable once old age arrives, such as Alzheimer's disease. The first time I read it, it was a little complex to understand what disease the grandmother had, she was still small, so I did not understand much why her symptoms, it was still a story that I enjoyed and that I managed to read very fast, because it kept me in expectation of what could happen chapter by chapter with Mamamenchu's disease.
I find especially fun and cute those books aimed at 10-12 year olds, because they tend to be stories with a plot with humorous nuances, but at the same time they have characters that leave mature messages and that if you read them when you are older, it makes you remember that time when the days went by faster and your worries were few.

Hola, gente linda de Hive, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un par de libros que siempre tendrán un lugar especial en mi corazón, son un par de historias enfocadas en un público infantil, pero lo que los hace especial no es solo su contenido, sino porque ambos fueron regalo de mi mamá en navidad (hace ya unos cuantos años). Desde que tengo uso de razón mi familia ha cultivado en mí el amor por la lectura, así que no importa cuántas veces me han regalado libros, siempre será un regalo especial para mí.
Hace poco los saqué de mi pequeño librero, lo que sentí al ver de nuevo estos libros fue pura nostalgia, han pasado un buen tiempo desde que no los he vuelto a leer, pero la historia sigue casi intacta en mi mente.
Cupido es un murciélago
Escrito por María Fernanda Heredia, una escritora mexicana, este libro está dirigido para niños a partir de los 11 años, y trata la vida de Javier, un pequeño que ha cambiado mucho de escuela debido al trabajo de sus papás así que espera que este sea una escuela más del montón, pero algo nuevo sucede: el amor lo golpea a la cara, ¡literalmente! Entra por error en el baño de las niñas y encuentra a una de las niñas más lindas que ha visto en su vida: Ángeles, quien, del susto, azota la puerta del baño y le golpea en la nariz, lo que le ocasiona un fuerte sangrado… A partir de ese incidente, Ángeles se encarga hacerlo pasar por situaciones vergonzosas, y el pobre Javier no puede dejar de verla como un ángel. Otro personaje importante en esta historia es Isabel, fiel amiga de Javier desde el primer día de clases, y aunque pasan por algunas situaciones que los hacen distanciarse un tiempo, se dan cuenta lo importante que son para el otro en su vida, y que el amor puede llegar de maneras muy espontáneas, siendo así que cupido no es un lindo bebé, sino un feo murciélago que puede convertir tu primera historia de amor, en un cuento de amor y de dolor.
Esta historia es muy divertida, en serio, cada capítulo me saca una sonrisa o una carcajada, y es muy rápida de leer, solo cuenta con 160 páginas, pero el ritmo de la lectura es fluido. Además, me gusta que esté narrado por Javier, así que todo lo que pasa tiene el toque infantil e inocente de un niño de 12 años. Cupido es un murciélago es una historia que recomendaría a muchos niños, está escrita de manera sencilla, mis hermanos menores lo leyeron, y ambos les encantó (diría que han leído este libro más veces que yo), lo cual me hace sentir muy feliz porque también haya cautivado sus corazones.
En la laguna más profunda.
Ok, debo decir que este libro me hizo llorar a mares. Recuerdo que lo leí un par de veces, y en ambas ocasiones tuve que buscar un pañuelo porque es inevitable que este libro no me ponga sentimental.
Su autor es Óscar Collazos, un escritor Colombiano y tiene un gran recorrido en la literatura y el periodismo; este libro en particular fue escrito en 2011, y está narrado por Alexandra, una niña muy alegre, que le gusta pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con su abuela, quien siempre ha sido una señora con mucha fuerza y que le gustaba pasar tiempo con sus nietos… Las cosas empezaron a ponerse raras cuando la abuela empezó a olvidar algunas cosas, al principio eran detalles pequeños como no saber dónde había dejado las gafas, o no encontrar el par de zapatos que iba a ponerse; pero luego empezó a usar combinaciones de ropa escandalosas, confundía los nombres de sus nietos, y después se perdía horas y horas en su propia laguna mental, no hablaba, poco comía, ni respondía las preguntas de Alexandra, pero ella, renuente a que no olvidara quien era, intenta mostrarle fotografías y narrarle anécdotas de cuando era más joven.
Bueno, creo que es muy obvio el por qué esta historia me entristeció tanto, desde que nos presentan a Mamamenchu (como solía llamar Alexandra a su abuela), empatizamos inmediatamente con ella y la relación tan bonita que tenía con su nieta, eran como amigas, y estoy segura que mucha gente puede sentirse identificado con eso. Es una historia conmovedora, con un final triste, pero que nos invita a apreciar a nuestros seres amados, el tiempo pasa rápido y hay enfermedades que son inevitables una vez llega la vejez, como lo es el Alzheimer. La primera vez que lo leí, fue un poco complejo entender qué enfermedad tenía la abuela, aún era pequeña, así que no entendía mucho el porqué de sus síntomas, igual fue una historia que disfruté y que logré leer muy rápido, pues me mantenía a la expectativa de lo que podía ocurrir capítulo a capítulo con la enfermedad de la Mamamenchu.
Me parecen especialmente divertidos y bonitos esos libros dirigidos para niños de 10-12 años, pues tienden a ser historias con una trama con matices humorísticos, pero a la vez tienen personajes que dejan mensajes maduros y que si los lees siendo mayor, te hace recordar esa época en donde los días pasaban más rápidos y tus preocupaciones eran pocas.

Estos libros que has reseñado me han dado mucha curiosidad. Aunque son libros infantiles voy a buscarlos para leerlos, sobre todo el de Collazos por la historia que aborda. Gracias por tu emotiva reseña de estos libros inolvidables para ti. Saludos.
La última historia es preciosa, aunque aborda un tema delicado y quizá algo complejo de entender, siento que está muy bien redactado y es disfrutable no solo para niños, sino adultos. Gracias a ti por tu comentario.😄
Podrán ser para niños, pero de que los leo, los leo jajaja. No, en serio, disfruto mucho de este tipo de libros que con un lenguaje simple y claro abordan temáticas complejas. Se aprende mucho de ellos. Gracias por compartir.
