First of, I'd like to send a special shoutout to @machhiata for showing me, and giving me the keys to a new world. Still leaving an extensive trail of unread, and half-read books, I set out to explore a new world. Scribd, which has the worlds largest library was completely at my disposal and you cannot imagine how that makes me feel as a book lover. I saw countless books, ranging from articles to different genres as well as summaries of best sellers. Podcast, magazines, etc. It a knowledge seekers heaven. While scrolling did I stumble on a book by Myriam Gurba titled, "A Letter to a Bigot"

It immediately caught my attention. The title already gave out that feel that this personal as well as it id about humanity. I enjoy reading stories about personal experience and people in general, memoirs, biographies, etc. Depending on the topic, it generally has a way of motivating me as well as re-shaping my perspective. I did a little background research both on the author and book just for curiosity sake and I was even more eager to see what it the content of the said book.

The book is narrated by the author Myriam Gurba, a queer Mexican immigrant in America. Describing her personal experience of how she experience, hate, bigotry and xenophobia first hand. The book though a letter to one man, George hobbs, is a general address to the decadence of the system. George hobbs, mayor of Santa Maria, a city near central coast of california, openly gave a campaign speech when she was only thirteen (13). A speech which seemed to have given licence to different forms of violence to which she was a victim of. It didn't seem to be only from him, as even the papers and people who believed in what he said didn't call him out, but rather turn defenders.

Impressively expressive. This is a reality check for all, to look into the ills in our society. Though George Hobbs dead, his singular speech as well as deeds still spirals negatively in the community. Reading this, I felt deep emotions of the author, struggles as an immigrant, as a human. The society didn't seem to be in control. Right from the youngest of ages, she experienced different forms of violence. An immigrant american Sophia was murdered by a 19 Year old Chicano. He also sexually assaulted Myriam, but Sophia did not live to tell the tale. I feel lots of rage. There is nor four of five different races, but only one race, human race. I believe humanity. This book has helped me reflect, not just stand there but speak against. Silence is a side.
