When I started reading books, I practically wanted to read everything and anything I could lay my hands on. I did 6 (six) months Industrial Training (what you would call Internship) in a university Library against the wishes of my folks. They wanted me to look for a paying job, but I knew I needed that hands on experience of a library for both my career and personally. I fellow colleague of mine, at that time started to share books with me that I could read that was when I read the book by John C Maxwell that transformed my life. It was a self-help book.

I have consumed quite a number of books since then and when it comes to the question of my preference between fiction and non–fiction, it’s always non-fiction because I haven’t quite read a lot of fictitious wok. Most of what I have and still reading are mostly motivational, self-help and even biographies and autobiographies which would be categories as non-fiction. They say;

Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth.

I couldn’t agree more. We know works of fiction are always invented. The author invents the plot, characters, and also the setting. Often times, a product of Imagination. You can say works of fiction are a necessity. The earlier statement is further buttressed with probably the first fiction book I read, maybe not, I can’t remember.

One of the greatest books of all time (in my limited knowledge of course ;) don’t judge me). I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, and one thing led to another and she suggested this book to me. I read it in 2020, I am just now realizing that I did not include it in my top five books of 2020, I am so silly. You all will agree with me at least that this is a classic. Dating far back as 1945 when it was published, this book is still relevant. George Orwell tells a story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer in a bid to establish a free and equal society where every animal has equal and fair opportunities and all are happy. A beautiful allegory that reveals all the inherent flaws in humanity, you could call it a satire too. I know I am way behind this one but I am so glad I finally read it. I also still have the book “1984” by George Orwell which seems like a spin off, I don’t know.

Yet another masterpiece I am currently reading under the fiction category. On the 23rd of last year, which was my birthday, I wandered into a bookstore and got this. A riveting read. I have resolved to take this one slowly, but steadily. These two books have made me find my way back to fiction. Personally for me, no preference, I just read but it’s never harmful to have a dose of all kinds.

I guess you major in literature. Fiction are really beautiful, they are like televisions in your head. Thank you so much for visiting my blog

Hello interesting your publication. I like to read everything. I am a teacher in Comprehensive Education, so I have to read in all areas. But when it comes to suspense I prefer movies.

Thank you so much for visiting.

I think teachers are hero's who don't wear capes. Movies do offer great suspense. There are great books too that do

Thanks I will try to read some.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this great topic! I am keen on both fiction and non-fiction literature. I even share some samples on writingbros website about English fiction topics. Check it out! And ‘1984’ by George Orwell as well as 'Animal Farm' are my favorites. "Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth." - thanks for this quote! Totally agree!
