So much hypocrisy in religion. Millions of gay people have had to live a lie due to religious oppression and been ostracised by their families if they come out. Why does it matter so much if they love differently? Then you have all the gay priests...

I agree with you and the vehemence with which you raise the issue.
I think that religious gay people want to belive in a theology that does not exist. They want to create chapters in sacred texts that have not and cannot be written, for obvious reasons. They are in such a need of validation and acceptance that they want to cling to a possitive aspect of religion (the piety, generosity, forgiveness, solidarity) and want to be part of that by all means necessary.
They asume that the changes that have taken place in science and other disciplines regarding whether or not homosexuality or nay other so-called sexual deviation, can also take place in religious organizations. That is a naive and suicidal thinking. I think that religions will not be any better if they all of a sudden started to embrace gay people, for instance. It would only make gay people be part of all the vices and inconsitencies of religion

There's a certain level of emotional masochism that exists in those members of the LGBT community that also subscribe to any of the Abrahamic faiths.
