Yoga and Me - Today is International Yoga Day 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Today, the International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide, with it's root originating from India, the country with diverse cultures, traditions and practices, but the one thing that binds everyone of us together is Yoga. When one talks about good things of my country one talks about YOGA.

Sukham Sthiram Aasanam

Which means every Yoga aasana that we do should be Steady and Comfortable.
Every single individual has their own capacity, when we follow the basic rules of Yoga which is also known as the Yoga Sutras, we learn to accept the limitations of our mind and body, we learn to go with the flow. No one is perfect but with practices one can reach to the stage of perfection and that's what Yoga teaches us in it's true sense.
If the aim is to lose weight through Yoga, then the whole essensce of Yoga fails. A coordination of physical body movement and the breadth in harmony makes one successful.
In the ancient times Yoga was done with a purpose of expanding one's spiritual awareness, but in the recent times it has become more of a physical exercise. How many people think about growing their mental health through yoga other then body flexibility? Very few. Fitness has become the primary goal for doing yoga these days and also one of the booming business.

If one does not feel consciously elevated after years of yoga practice, I wonder what are they doing. Also it does not mean that a person will always be at the elevation, but even if one goes down, the ability to rise up will be faster. Yoga teaches us to balance.
Balance our emotions and actions. It helps bring the steadiness within us.

A minimum 20 minutes practice daily is good enough to bring change within one over a period of time, but one should very clearly remember, it is not about doing acrobat tricks. Yoga can be done in simple ways and as the progress happens the complex postures are also possible with ease. That's the beauty of Yoga, push yourself in your maximum capacity, but do not overdo it.

Also Yoga is just not about doing different physical postures, if one is only engaged in that part, they will not accomplish the real value of Yoga. It is more about working on your body through your mind and also your actions. That's why an authentic Yoga practitioner will focus on Pranayamas, Chanting and Meditation.

Karma Yoga - This is all about your day to day life actions, what it demands is mindful actions. There are no Asanas (Poses) here, It is about bringing in discipline into yourself through your own selfless actions.

Gyan Yoga - As the word by itself says Knowledge. As our knowledge expands so does our consciousness. Accumulation of knowledge leads to discovering realities of higher consciousness through Insights and Practices.

Japa Yoga- Japa means repetition. A repetition of a Mantra in a Meditative state. While the chanting of the Mantra brings it's own benefits of manifesting the meaning behind the Mantra, like AUM - connection with the universal consciousnesses, but the other advantage of it is to help building up on concentration capabilities and develop focus.

Each of these have their own benefits but they all lead to one path and that is connecting to your higher consciousness.

With regular practice of Yoga the Soul starts relating to the physical body and the chain reaction starts; hence Yoga is called the "Union of Body and Mind"

The Patanjali Yoga Sutras talk about 2 main fundamentals;

Purusha - The Universal Consciousness" also called "The Universal Cosmic Male energy"
Prakriti - "The Individual Consciousness" also known as "The Mother Nature".

We are a mix of both and the process of Yoga, helps integrate the two and brings alignment between our Perceptions, Expectations and Reality.
And ofcourse I do not have to talk about the physical health benefits that comes with Yoga, they are endless. It's like a power pack for one's overall optimal health at all levels, Physical, Mental and Emotional.

I hope you all have a wonderful Yoga Day and keep spreading the knowledge and Power of Yoga.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

yoga helps reduce stress and anxiety which in return lowers blood pressure and improve our respiration process.

Wish you and others a happy yoga day.

Hope you too had a good day

Yeah I do some workouts but not yoga. I'm desperately want to learn though😄

Beautiful. I too yoga'd my way through my day -- japa, mantra and asana. xx @riverflows

Awesome, I am sure your senses must have felt so relaxed after all of it

Lol what would the world be like if it wasn’t for India giving us Yoga, karmasutra, spices, tea and Bollywood dramas? I don’t want to know it’s a place I wouldn’t want to live in!

Hahaha....India has a bag of goodies to distribute

Enjoyed my own very simple yoga practice at home this morning. Try to incorporate my breathing, and simple postures - a deep forward bend while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil etc. Personally I find western style yoga more and more irritating - zoom classes, music, the "cool" gear and an endless requirement to pay money to other people. So much of it misses the point. I love the simplicity of Indian style yoga. Learning to BE the mantra, rather than listening to a studio produced version thereof.

Nice post, @nainaztengra.

I'm with you on the zoom classes and the cool gear, lol. I can't get into flow online, and damn, what was wrong with practicing in tracky dacks??? Grateful for the studios I attend that offer pay as you can afford or a weekly free community class. Sadly they have to make money to provide a service, and there something special about the sangha too - the community of yoga, which I miss so much, though I'm perfectly capable of a yogic practice at home, all limbs including :P xx

@riverflows

I completely agree with you ladies @riverflows and @artemislives. I can never get that zoom and other online things, no essence of it remains doing it in this techie manner. Rather I would prefer my own individual practice just by myself at home with whatever I can manage.
