Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community! Today I'm joining you to share an experience from the Drawing Workshop. I've been so busy that I haven't had a moment to sit down and share some of the things that have been happening in the past few weeks. One of them was the Christmas Exhibition we had at school. This collective display of drawings and paintings was part of the work of all the students in the Drawing Workshop. The school uses this time of year to hold a Christmas celebration that includes some of the skills they develop there. For example, at the Christmas party, there were dances and music. Of course, it couldn't be any other way. Since we in the workshop can't do something like that, our tribute was shown through the exhibition, with all the love and effort that can be produced using graphite pencils, paint, brushes, paper, and the students' skills.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una experiencia en el taller de Dibujo. Cómo había estado ocupada, no había tenido momento de poder sentarme con calma y mostrar algunas de las cosas que estuvieron sucediendo las semanas anteriores. Una de ellas, fue la Exposición de Navidad qu tuvimos en el colegio. Esta muestra colectiva de dibujos y pinturas, fue parte del trabajo de todos los estudiantes del Taller de Dibujo. En el colegio se toma en cuenta estas fechas para poder hacer una celebración navideña dónde se incluyan algunas de las competencias que allí se maneja. Por ejemplo, en el parrandon navideño, hubo bailes y música. Por supuesto, no podía ser de otra forma. Cómo nosotros los del taller no podemos hacer algo cómo ello, nuestro tributo fue mostrado a través de la exposición, con todo el cariño y el trabajo que se puede producir por medio de los lápices de grafito, la pintura, los pinceles, las hojas y las destrezas de los muchachos.
During those weeks, I was working on the cardboard frames for the children. They look simple, but making them requires time, care, and precision. Not all cardboard is the same; some pieces are thicker, others thinner, and I had to weed them out to get the best. Besides, finding all that cardboard was quite an ordeal. I was only able to make 12 frames, but I promised I'd have them all next year. Anyway, a representative and I set up the display stands for the children. Then, the kids helped me decorate the boxes covered with bond paper. They gave them their own style and also helped me glue everyone's work on them. This is the second display we've worked on together, and I like that they can get involved in setting everything up because it gives them a sense of ownership and pride. Finally, this is how our Christmas Display looked. The bad thing is that after a few days, the tape gave way, and I had to take everything down so it wouldn't get damaged. Esas semanas estuve trabajando en los marcos de cartón para los niños. Se ven sencillo, pero realizarlos requiere de tiempo, delicadeza y precisión. No todos los cartones son iguales, algunos más gruesos, otros más débiles y había que hacer un descarte de ellos para obtener lo mejor. Además de que fue toda una odisea dar con todo ese cartón. Solo pude hacer 12 marcos, pero prometí que para el próximo año podría tener todos. La cuestión es que entre una representante y yo, montamos las bases de la exposición para los chicos. Luego, los niños me ayudaron a decorar las cajas forradas con papel Bond. Le dieron su propio estilo y además, me ayudaron a pegar los trabajos de todos. Esta es la segunda exposición donde trabajamos juntos y me gusta que ellos se puedan introducir en el montaje de todo pues les da cierto sentido de pertenencia y valor. Finalmente, así lució nuestra Exposición de Navidad. Lo malo es que luego de unos días, la cinta cedió y tuve que retirar todo para que no se dañaran las cosas. Excelente exposición navideña, se nota que tus alumnos son muy talentosos y les gusta expresarse a través de arte. Todo luce muy bien acondicionado y esos marcos quedaron geniales.
