๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ˜ปA Tale of Three Tails Part 5 - Chai Gets a Job๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ˜ป

in Caturday โ€ข last year (edited)

It has finally happened! Someone in our household, besides us adults, myself and @zakludick (who have been doing WAY TOO MUCH ADULTING lately) has gone out and gotten a job. No, it's not one of the kids, but it's Trashcat: previously known as my "favourite child" or Chai. NO, man, really, I do love him, and he is still my favourite, but good heavens is he a master of disaster.

So for a quick catchup, Chai was "given" to us, and I use the term "given" very loosely as a four year old basically stole him for us by dragging him though someone's burglar bars. He was severely neglected and was not being fed. At four months old, he was very underweight and gangly, and I really thought he needed a bath, but it turns out he just looks like that naturally... like a dirty chai latte - hence the name. He has become a lot more ginger as he has been getting older though and his beautiful markings are showing out more. He still does look like he belongs in a dustbin though and behaves somewhere between an Alsatian puppy and a raccoon.

His modis operandi is to wait until we are asleep, and god help us if we've left a chicken bone or an empty tuna tin in the bin, because then we get to wake up to this.... and this is still a tame photo!

So, earlier this week I got a voicenote from my elderly neighbour telling me that while they were relaxing and watching some TV, Chai (who is a regular visitor there, since he can hide from the children and wangle free treats) jumped through their window and straight into their dustbin, almost giving them a heart attack and strewing trash all over their floor.

Thank heavens, they adore him, so he was let off the hook, but as compensation for his discretions, he is now doing community service as our little complex's pest controller.

Our neighbours, upon spotting any vermin, simply just knock on our door, pick him up, plonk him in front of whatever needs munching, and then pick him up and bring him home.

Best. Cat. Ever. lollollol

And then you get these two freeloaders who do nothing but show us their butts and demand food. They will only cuddle on their terms, and when they do, theres a whole song and dance about it.

Squeek finiky but is a simple las who just wants food and peace and quiet, but take Lexi for example:

I don't know if I'm getting old and repeating myself, but for those of you who I haven't told this story to, Lexi will jump up onto our extremely unstable pergola, then up onto the window ledge and MEOOOOOOWWWWWW ferociously until I stop pretending to sleep by squeezing my eyes closed, and I give up on trying to "pspspspspspsps" her through the burglar bars and I actually physically go and grab her and plonk her on the bed. She will also repeat this action, jumping back out of the window and repeating her dramatic entrance for maximum impact.

Its about then that I roll her into a kitty taco. problem solved!

I do love them though..... sigh...... and yes, I still want more ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜

We've adopted our son's cat as they've emigrated - note I'm a bird lover, not a bird catcher cat lover, but... Poe has crept into our hearts and now rules the roost! He's the weirdest nosiest cat, follows us when we walk around the garden and is dying to get into our bnb unit, but it's forbidden territory as he's not used to children.
I had a good chuckle at your cat story @clairemobey๐Ÿ˜‰

Such little characters! I moan about them a lot but I do feel a home is no home at all without cats. They do have a way of wrapping us around those tiny fuzzy paws!
