We did the second dose of the Rotavirus vaccine for my son last December 10, and the other day, our BHW - Brgy. The health worker informed me that we have a schedule. At first, my reaction was, why now? Why not next month so my husband is here to assist? However, on the bright side, it was perfect timing since there are upcoming holidays. That means he will be fully vaccinated for Penta. I am confident he is protected enough.
Last month, the vaccination started at 10 in the morning at the Brgy. Hall, a few steps away from our house. This time, the venue was at the local health center at eight in the morning. I don't have a problem preparing Caleb, as he is an early riser. Most of the time, he is awake at five or six. Thus, it's been raining for days and even yesterday; not stormy wind, but still breezy.
We were ready yet couldn't leave home as it was raining.
The health center wasn't that far—only a ten-minute walk—and it was good exercise, if ever. Thankful, my brother-in-law came to the rescue and drove us there using an e-bike.
As I entered the specific area for vaccination, I noticed that it was already decorated for the Christmas season. White Christmas?
It wasn't that grand, but it was cool for the eyes. I've been seeing a colorful theme, and seeing something calmer is excellent.
I think they used crepe papers and painted those twigs in white.
There are only a few people inside, maybe because it was still raining. As usual, Caleb was just busy looking around while sitting on my lap.
When it was our turn, I was surprised that it was not only Penta but also PCV vaccines will be injected today. That means. I saved $152! That much if I avail it through his Pediatrician.
Though he couldn't be given oral IPV as it would compromise the efficiency of Rota.
He was a brave little boy. He cried only during the administration of vaccines and stopped the moment we stood up.
Good job, Baby! I hope you won't have a fever later.
Give him 0.6ML of paracetamol as a pain reliever when you arrive home. The midwife instructed.
He is mad after pricked of needles in both his thighs.
The vaccine's side effects.
He was fine the whole day, though he had a light fever at night. Before bedtime, he was still playing on our bed. However, after an hour, he started to sound like struggling to breathe. It feels like I want to cough, but I am struggling. His face was getting and started to become fussy.
I tried to soothe him to sleep and place him on the bed. Feeling relieved, I lay beside him, yet I heard him grasping an air before I closed my eyes! Goodness, this is what I hate after the vaccination.
Fastly, I held him in my arms, upright position, and he threw up. Before he did, I was fighting my drowsiness, but after that, it was all gone. That feeling I no longer wanted to sleep, afraid that he might puke again and he would drown. So yeah, I spent the night sitting in one corner of our bed while cuddling him in my arms. How can I sleep, seeing his breathing look abnormal? To make sure, I asked Google! Somehow, he felt relieved after counting his breath per minute, still in normal range. Perhaps I was exaggerating! The pain and worries of a first-time Mom 😕.
Now, he is back in shape and even sleeping beside me, while I find it hard to sleep during the day.

I don't miss all those shots and trips. Yes, I went to almost all of them for my son. He too was brave and got it out of his system after administrated. Good old daddy genes, hehe.
Really what a stage Dad you are!
If husband is here surely he would too!
Oh, nice genes huh? Never experienced him having a side effects?
