I am not the biggest fan of Italian football, so I haven't watched many matches from this league so far this season. However, this league has turned out to have one of the most exciting endings in all of Europe with both Milan and Inter being very even and with both of them have high chances of winning the league.

This tournament is usually dominated by Juventus which is a club accustomed to being the number 1 Italian team. However, the city of Milan has 2 clubs, the already mentioned Inter and Milan, that sometimes are able to surpass Juve and become the main ones.

In the Champions League, the most important club tournament in the world, Milan is the second club with the most championships with 7, and Inter is the last Italian club to have won this tournament back in 2010. It has been more than 10 years since Italian clubs have ruled Europe and it is hard to think when this will end. Currently, there are other leagues with more prestige and popularity, and Italians have hard work to do for them to try to become the best ones once again.

Last season, Inter won the league after 9 consecutive years of Juventus being the champions. Some of the key people who allowed Inter to be the champions were the coach Conte and the physical trainer Pintus. Both of them are among the best in their professions, and they made important players such as Lukaku play better than ever.

In the summer, Inter had some problems that forced them to let go of the 3 aforementioned men. I didn't think they would be able to remain competitive this season but surprisingly they did. Before this match started there were only 2 matches left to play, and even though Milan is in the lead, Inter still has a chance of becoming champions.

On the other hand, Milan is a club that was among the best ones in the world 2 decades ago. They had world-class stars in those years such as Pirlo, Maldini, Kaka, and Shevchenko. They won 2 Champions League, one in 2003 and one in 2007, and after so much success a dark era started for them in the last decade.

They had economic problems that prevented them from remaining competitive, and it wasn't until this year that they finally appear to be back at competing at the highest level. They have been making very good signings in the last few years, and this season they signed a terrific striker such as Giroud that has really helped the team in winning so many matches. They currently have a well functional combination of young and veteran players, and I would love to see them winning the league and establishing themselves as a competitive team once again.

How was the match?

As many were expecting, Milan became the dominant team very soon into the match, they could approach Atalanta's area with ease, but producing good shots and having good finalizations for their attack was the most challenging part.

Atalanta is a good team that usually plays either in the Europa League or sometimes even in the Champions League. It was clear that Milan was going to have a hard time defeating them. However, since Milan is the team in the first position it was obvious to see them as the favorite ones for this match.

Most of Atalanta's attacks were thanks to Muriel from his left side. He constantly attempt to create dangerous approaches but just like Milan, Atalanta wasn't doing a good job when it was time to enter the area of their rival.

On Milan's side, the most dangerous player was Rafael Leao who is also the top goal scorer of the team and can therefore be considered as their main star right now.

When the first half ended I started to suspect this match could very well end without any goal being scored because neither team was causing too much danger. There wasn't a single important goal opportunity in the first half, all of the shots went either outside the net or were easily stopped by the goalkeeper. There wasn't much excitement going on and I was actually s it disappointed with both teams. It felt as if this match was irrelevant when it was actually the complete opposite, at least for Milan.

At the beginning of the second half, there was a free kick from Theo Hernandez around the 52 minute mark that I saw inside the net but it actually went out for just a few centimeters. Things were getting exciting.

A couple of minutes later, at the 55-minute mark, Leao scored the first goal of the match after an excellent pass from Messias. Leao received the pass and with his amazing speed, he managed to outrun the defender and sent the ball between the goalkeeper's legs. It was an amazing goal, and I was surprised by how good Leao was playing. This guy is just 22 years old and could become a superstar in no time. He is fast, strong, very energetic, and with a powerful shot. No doubt he is Milan's best player.

This goal allowed Milan to be much more comfortable in the match but they continued to play the same. They didn't relax or lose their focus at any moment.

At the 75-minute mark, Theo Hernández scored one of the best individual goals I have seen in a long time. He received the ball infront of his own area and immediately started to run with no one able to stop him. He made a diagonal move when he was reaching Atalanta's area, and ended up doing a crossed shot with his left foot sending the ball inside. He was absolutely unstoppable in his run, and I think this can be one of the best goals of the season so far. His entire play from beginning to end was very impressive.

After Milan's second goal, Atalanta became the team doing most of the attacks but it was too little too late for them. There was now not much time left on the clock, and Milan's players were full of confidence knowing they had the lead not only in this match but also in the league.

This was a well deserved victory for Milan, both of their goals were amazing, and they played better even though their superiority in the pitch wasn't very overwhelming. Milan is now about to become the new Serie A champions.

What's next?

If Inter doesn't win the match they are playing today, Milan will be able to become the new champions. Otherwise, the champions will be decided next Sunday in the final matches of the competition.

The Premier League might also have very intense final matches next Sunday because Manchester City was unable to win their match earlier today, and this leaves Liverpool with some chances of surpassing them. I still think City won't fail in their last match but Liverpool is obliged to give their best and try to win the league until the very last moment.
