Tras el recital de fútbol sin puntería que había ofrecido el Real Madrid ante la Real Sociedad, tocaba saldar la fecha pendiente en la que había de recibir a un Valencia en estado crítico ya sin Genaro Gattuso en el banquillo y con la afición del conjunto Ché en estado de ebullición absoluta en contra de Peter Lim. Durísima prueba para Voro a quien la multi criticada cúpula directiva valencianista eligió, nuevamente, como el “Bombero” designado para buscar apagar un fuego que se antoja inextinguible.
Los de Ancelotti debían sacar la victoria pues arrancaban el encuentro ocho puntos por detrás del FC Barcelona que había vencido al Real Betis Balompié por 1-2 en el Villamarín 24 horas antes; los Blancos cumplieron y han conseguido una victoria reconfortante ante un equipo que se dedicó a buscar sobrevivir en la grama del Bernabéu, pero que era absolutamente inofensivo. El Valencia terminó el encuentro sin un solo remate bajo los tres palos de un Thibaut Courtois que ha tenido uno de sus encuentros más plácidos defendiendo la meta Merengue.
After Real Madrid's aimless football recital against Real Sociedad, it was time to settle the pending match against a Valencia side in a critical state without Genaro Gattuso on the bench and with the fans of the Ché team in a state of absolute boiling against Peter Lim. It was a tough test for Voro, whom the much-criticised Valencianista board of directors chose, once again, as the "Fireman" to put out a fire that seems to be inextinguishable.
Ancelotti's side had to get the win as they started the game eight points behind FC Barcelona, who had beaten Real Betis Balompié 2-1 at the Villamarín 24 hours earlier; Los Blancos delivered, and have secured a comforting victory over a team that looked to survive on the Bernabéu pitch, but were utterly inoffensive. Valencia finished the game without a single shot on target for Thibaut Courtois, who had one of his most comfortable games in defence of the Merengues' goal.

El central brasileño salió tocado del abductor al 35’ y el genio francés se retiró cojeando y con un gesto bastante preocupante al cumplirse la hora de juego, se encienden las alarmas en la enfermería del Real Madrid a tan solo seis días de debutar en el Mundial de Clubes de Marruecos.
En temas más amables, que las preocupantes bajas en batalla del Real Madrid, es menester tocar el grandísimo momento de Dani Ceballos; el sevillano vive sus días más dulces desde que forma parte de la plantilla merengue, goza de la selecta confianza de Carlo Ancelotti y, además, hace de todo por conservarla y maximizarla partido a partido. ¡Ceballos ya es de la cuadrilla! Se lo ha ganado con pundonor, entrega y brillantez futbolística. Por otro lado está Asensio que, si quisiera, podría ser incuestionable pero decide entregar esa incuestionable calidad suya a cuenta gotas. ¡Si el balear quisiera un poquito más, sería un incuestionable! El sevillano y el mallorquín han salido a la palestra en medio de la adversidad que aqueja al banquillo Merengue que, por momentos, parece quedarse corto.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all good news for Real Madrid against Valencia; with the Club World Cup and a pair of Copa del Rey semi-final clashes against Barça on the horizon, Los Blancos have lost Karim Benzema and Eder Militao. The Brazilian centre-back went off with an abductor injury in the 35th minute and the French genius limped off with a worrying limp on the hour mark, setting off alarm bells in the Real Madrid infirmary just six days before the Club World Cup opener in Morocco.
On a gentler subject than Real Madrid's worrisome battle casualties, it is necessary to mention the great moment of Dani Ceballos; the Sevillian is living his best days since he has been part of the Merengue squad, he enjoys the trust of Carlo Ancelotti and, moreover, he does everything to keep it and maximise it match by match. Ceballos is already a member of the squad! He's earned it with his pundonor, dedication and footballing brilliance. On the other hand, there is Asensio who, if he wanted to, could be unquestionable but chooses to deliver his unquestionable quality in dribs and drabs. If the Balearic wanted a little more, he would be unquestionable! The Sevillian and the Mallorcan have come to the fore in the midst of the adversity that afflicts the Merengue bench which, at times, seems to fall short.
Por su parte el Valencia no puede romperse más de lo que ya está roto; desde hace mucho tiempo el conjunto Che arde como arden las Fallas en fiestas, pero esta incineración tiene poco y nada de festiva. El cuadro valencianista se limitó a buscar la supervivencia en el Bernabéu, apeló a que el Real Madrid tuviera otra puesta en escena en la que el tino de cara al arco no existiera y salir de la capital española -en el mejor de los casos- con un punto en el bolsillo producto de un empate sin goles. Los de Voro no buscaron ofender en momento alguno y se mantuvieron replegados casi todo el tiempo en su mitad del campo.
El medio campo Merengue, rebosante en calidad con Kroos, Modric y Ceballos y apoyado por Camavinga -que se suponía lateral pero tiraba por momentos a su querencia natural en el centro del campo-, no tuvo problema alguno para solventar el planteamiento de Voro y hacerse con el control de la pelota. Los de Ancelotti fueron pacientes, no desesperaron en momento alguno, dominaron la primera mitad casi sin querer y apunto estuvieron de irse al descanso con ventaja en el marcador, por un gol de Rüdiger, si Alberola Rojas y el VAR no lo hubiesen evitado.
For their part, Valencia cannot be any more broken than they are already; for a long time now, the Che side have been burning like the Fallas burns in their festivities, but this incineration has little or nothing festive about it. The Valencian side simply looked to survive at the Bernabeu, hoping Real Madrid would have another goalless draw and leave the Spanish capital with -at best- a point in the bag. The Merengue midfield, brimming with quality with Kroos, Modric and Ceballos and supported by Camavinga -who was supposed to be a winger but was at times pulling to his natural preference in midfield- had no trouble at all in overcoming Voro's approach and taking control of the ball. Ancelotti's side were patient, never despairing, dominated the first half almost unintentionally and almost went into the break with a Rüdiger goal, had Alberola Rojas and the VAR not prevented it.

Poco tardó el Real Madrid en buscar su ebullición en la segunda parte para, entonces sí, cargar a por los tres puntos ante la consabida fragilidad que suponía su desmejorado rival. Al minuto 52’ Vinicius dejó demasiado largo su envío rasante a Benzema, apuró el francés para rescatar la pelota y escanear la mejor opción para dar continuidad a la profesión ofensiva, oteó a Marco Asensio y del balear fue la pelota para que, por enésima vez, deleitara a la grada blanca con uno de esos remates tan suyos. Impecable e implacable golpeo de Asensio, marca de la casa, para inaugurar un marcador que tardó demasiado en moverse.
Se derrumbó el Valencia con el gol, se caía su plan de buscar un melate sin goles, y el Madrid olió la sangre en derrumbe emocional de los de Voro; dos minutos tras el golpe de Asensio, volvía a asistir Benzema, ahora a un carrerón en solitario de Vinicius, también marca de la casa, para firmar con eficiencia absoluta el tiro de gracia a un Valencia que ya había llegado muerto al Bernabéu. Karim Benzema ha participado en 11 goles en sus últimas doce apariciones con el Real Madrid, 9 goles y el par de asistencias de hoy y justo cuando su aporte volvía a parecerse al de la temporada pasada, una lesión ha venido a tocar a su puerta.
Transcurrió el último tramo del encuentro con poco que contar más allá de la brutal patada de Gabriel Paulista a Vinícius Júnior, el central brasilero del Valencia se iba expulsado por la atrocidad cometida, pero el Real Madrid no quiso hacer más sangre de su rival tal vez por piedad o tal quizá por dosificar esfuerzos de cara al complejo calendario que Febrero les propone. Ganó y gustó el Real Madrid que parece haber recobrado la memoria futbolística en un momento clave de la temporada, la pegada de cara al arco parece seguir siendo la asignatura pendiente. ¡Ya son 150 victorias para Carlo Ancelotti en el banquillo del Real Madrid!
It didn't take Real Madrid long to find their boiling point in the second half and then charge for the three points in the face of the familiar fragility of their fading opponents. There was little to report in the closing stages of the game beyond Gabriel Paulista's brutal kick at Vinícius Júnior, the Brazilian Valencia centre-back was sent off for the atrocity, but Real Madrid did not want to draw any more blood from their opponents, perhaps out of pity, or perhaps just to dose their efforts ahead of the complex schedule they face in February. Real Madrid won and enjoyed the win, and they seem to have recovered their footballing memory at a key moment of the season, although their goal-scoring ability still seems to be their unfinished business. 150 wins for Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of Real Madrid!

Una barbaridad lo que le costó a los merengues derrotar a un Valencia que yo creí que iba a salir mucho más alicaído, teniendo en cuenta que están en una crisis sin precedentes y que acaban de salir de Genaro Gattusso como técnico, luego de la desastrosa gestión del italiano, en mi opinión, fue respetable el partido del Valencia.
El Real Madrid por su parte, creo que solo ganó porque el Valencia está peor que ellos, los de Ancelotti apenas están encontrando en Dani Ceballos la solución a un mediocampo que se nota agotado físicamente, Modric y Kroos están tirando sus últimas patadas de ahogados y no están para la cantidad de minutos que Ancelotti planea que jueguen.

Ayer el Real Madrid jugó bien ante un equipo que es demasiado frágil en todas las zonas del terreno de juego. Los de Ancelotti parecen haber reencontrado las formas, pero paradójicamente han perdido la pegada. El Valencia de Voro estaba jugando a no perder; de momento no se les puede pedir mucho más. El problema en el conjunto Ché ya no es tanto Gattuso (o cualquier entrenador que haya precedido al italiano) sino Peter Lim y su cúpula directiva que se han quedado muy cortos en cuanto al manejo del equipo respecta.
En cuanto al medio campo del Real Madrid, es verdad que a Modric y a Kroos les está costando en lo físico, se notan cansados y la plantilla del Real Madrid se antoja corta porque tampoco es que Ancelotti eche mano de jugadores del Castilla. ¡En fin! Veremos que es lo que pasa con los blancos en Febrero, es trajín es largo y demandante.

Tener un plantel como este debe ser el sueño de casi cualquier entrenador. Yo sí que soy un admirador de Ancelotti como estratega de la vieja escuela, pero creo que el fútbol moderno, de repente le va quedando grande, no tiene flexibilidad táctica y eso le ha hecho pagar caro en tiempos recientes (específicamente en un par de clásicos ante Xavi). Y sí, "para gustos los colores" decía la mía.
