¿Qué #%&k)¡*$" hacemos en Twitter? - what #%&k)¡*$" are we doing on twitter? [ESP/ENG]

¿Cuántas personas he traído a HIVE desde allá?

separador rojo2.png

¿A quién quieres traer a HIVE?

separador rojo2.png

¿Cuántas personas has traído de Twitter?

Me encantaría leer tus reflexiones y tu “Para qué” o a cuántas personas has traído desde Twitter…

English

We have been active on Twitter for quite some time now. More and more people are joining the campaign to promote HIVE in the social network of the little bird. From the beginning by the call of @theycallmedan and later with the push and enthusiasm of @nathanmars.

I've had a few weeks to reflect on this topic; the "why" we do it because sometimes I feel that some people (and I could include myself) are not clear about it or changed it along the way. After reading the publication of @jossduarte I corroborated that I was not crazy in my irreverent thoughts, while the whole community lives passionately on Twitter.

After a lot of thinking I think we should constantly debate this topic and I talk about the results; if this "why", which motivated you to spend so much time on Twitter, many times more than on HIVE itself, is being fulfilled.

There are many questions we should ask ourselves, especially since the blocking of @theycallmedan's account on Twitter. After the "what for", come questions like: What results have I had on Twitter? What kind of people do I want to bring to HIVE? How many people have I brought to HIVE from there? What has been the impact of the Hive-Twitter movement?

It's been almost 6 months now and I haven't seen any statistics about this (please leave it in the comments). Sometimes I see that people just go with the flow and of course I include myself and that's how I feel. I see people so excited on Twitter, but when I go to their HIVE blogs they have days without posting; that calls me to reflect a lot on whether we are promoting Twitter or HIVE.

Now I would like this reflection to be more as a Hispanic community and especially the Venezuelan one. Right in this country, Twitter trending has been reached 5 times; the results, unknown, beyond one metric, I do not see how many people reached HIVE.

separador rojo2.png

What for?

In this question we will find our main motivation for spending time on Twitter. Contrary to what many might think in this community; the answer is very personal, everyone has their own.

In the "what for" we can find from the most common: "To promote HIVE", to many others like, "so that the whales vote for me", "so that my personal brand grows", "to promote my other social networks", "so that other hivers know me", etc.

Each one should check if this "what for" is being fulfilled, because if not, we have to rethink strategies. There you will see what kind of results you are having; at a global and community level I don't see many.

separador rojo2.png

Who do you want to bring to HIVE?

If your "why" is to bring more users to the platform, then it is important to ask yourself what kind of people you want here; the strategy will depend on this.

Types of main users for HIVE

  • Content Creators
  • Content Consumers
  • Investors, whales
  • Developers

I personally don't see Twitter as a social network where we get good content creators; I think that the best way to do this would be Youtube, Instagram and Pinterest. Nor do I see that there are consumers of the type of content that we develop at HIVE, although they love to read, it is always very short and fast content.

As for the whales, this is one of the points that keeps me active on Twitter. Since Dan was in "Ruteros Especiales" in the discord of @rutablockchain and told us that in Twitter you can find whales that invest in crypto, I saw it as the strategy to follow to attract more investment. Dan himself has also said on several occasions that he knows of some whales that could invest in HIVE if they see a large active and committed community. I think this would be one of the few motivations that we can have and we don't know how to measure it.

However, speaking of whales; I don't see that Venezuelan whales are interested in anything outside of LocalBitcoin, so, the fact that we are trending doesn't seem to call their attention, but I honestly don't know them, I don't know how to reach them, so I can't talk much about it. What I can assure you is that in Venezuela, contrary to what is believed in HIVE, there are many whales moving large amounts of bitcoin, and it is a good thing we are always among the 3 countries that move the most bitcoin through LocalBitcoin.

Another topic that makes me noise is the type of user you find in Venezuela's Twitter trending. All they talk about is politics; there are too many laments, tragedies and a very heavy load of pessimistic and defeatist energy; I don't know if that's the kind of people we want to bring in, unless your motivation is to transform everyone's life. Also, someone once told me that if the government of Venezuela sees a lot of interest in HIVE and that Venezuelans help each other from there, it could seek to put its hands on it somehow; although I see it as extreme, it is another possibility.

separador rojo2.png

How many people have you brought from Twitter?

Since HIVE started, @rutablockchain has brought over 130 new users and none came through Twitter. Most came via Whatssapp, Facebook and direct word of mouth. I have only responded to 4 people on Twitter that I saw asking about the #hivechat tag and I don't think the others have had a very different experience. I know that several were able to write private messages, but it's a rare thing on Twitter, so I particularly don't think there were many.

Imagine for a moment all that energy focused on another social network, like Youtube. Imagine that there is a weekly live show about HIVE and we all comment on it and participate; we could make it viral and the good thing is that it will still be there and Youtube will continue to recommend it. The same thing could happen on Facebook, we could even create a fund to promote it with advertising.

We have enormous power in our hands and I feel that we are under-utilizing it, sometimes just to get excited that we are at the top of Twitter, but without any concrete results. The energy that is invested in a hivechat is impressive, I'm sure we can get more out of it.

Paradoxically we are growing in Twitter, but not in HIVE. In the last few weeks, the publication of content has decreased and any serious curator can easily notice this.

separador rojo2.png

My "What for"

The main one was always to promote HIVE and although I always brought people from other social networks, I did not hesitate to follow the call trusting Dan. I thought we would be like that mass support I needed to influence great whales. That it didn't matter if no one on Venezuela's Twitter would listen to us; the important thing is that Dan's whale friends see how powerful this community is. However, at this moment I see whales more interested in Defi de Ethereum than in HIVE publications.

Another "why" too, is to grow my personal brand and have a big Twitter account. However, 95% of my followers are divers and what better than to grow my personal brand in HIVE, where I can write without limitations for them, than in Twitter. On the other hand, all the tweets I do and are not related to HIVE are practically invisible and nobody cares. So I don't feel that this is contributing much to my personal brand, because my biggest clients are on Instagram and Youtube.

separador rojo2.png

Conclusions

I don't really have any conclusions and I want you to take this post as a rambling, no-holds-barred digression. My intention is to start a debate on the subject, it's time to measure our goals and although I enjoy all this journey and every tweet I generate; HIVE also asks us for results.

I don't know what can happen with this impressive movement, I just know that we must give more, especially focus and precision.

I would love to read your reflections and your "What for" or how many people you have brought from Twitter?

Hola @danielvehe , Interesantes preguntas.

Twitter you can find whales that invest in crypto

We just gotta keep going with our Twitter movement until we get noticed by few billionaires

And if it is complemented with strategies to go to them and present projects to them? We have the DAO without using it for marketing

There are many approaches to get the attention billionaires via Twitter.

The More of our Community Members joining us to represent HIVE on Twitter the sooner we can make this happen.

I’m sure some of our community members will put HIVE marketing proposals on DAO soon
