How I got my Hive story published outside of Hive

in Loving HIVE ❤11 months ago

It's all well and good to talk about Hive here on Hive.

But our community stories, projects, and experiments need to escape into other realms to truly start to drive adoption of the platform.

A big part of this is in relationship building with either Web3 journalists or Web3 news and communication projects. One such project is JumpNews.xyz, which has NFTs on Polygon and covers a wide range of Web3 topics. Their angle is in attracting Web2 marketing and technology professionals to Web 2.5 or Web 3, and they're currently looking to develop a community of contributors.

For the past few months I've been hanging out in their Discord, meeting people, and trying to be helpful. I have a bunch of non-Hive article ideas I think I could write for them, but when the call came out for content I pitched something I had in my back pocket for months—a recap of what I've been doing with serialized fiction here on Hive.

After some community feedback on the draft, it was posted up within a week or so.

And here's the Hive logo sharing space with Adidas and BRC-20:

I love JUMP's branding, by the way!

(Read the article here).

I didn't even ask for the logo like that, the editors must've gone and grabbed it up based on the story.

Hopefully this piece will get circulated out to JUMP's sizeable email newsletter base, and that'll be one more drop in the bucket for Hive awareness out there in the world.

But a drop is all it is. Collectively, we Hive users need to be on the lookout for these kind of opportunities and relationships. There are lots of people doing things here on the chain, and we have amazing awesome initiatives like conferences, POSH, the boreholes, the rally car, IRL entertainment partnerships. We should be nurturing a 'public relations' mindset to find other communities/outlets that can use these Hive stories as fuel for their own ambitions!

I've started to build a small process around this idea that goes something like this:

  1. Research channels and potential partnerships, write 'em down
  2. Comb Hive for interesting stories, summarize those stories into something tweetable (I call these things 'snippets')
  3. Once we have a good collection of snippets, start matching them to the channels researched in Step 1, and reach out to people with pitches/ideas

It's a lot of work, and it's tough to keep up with amid life, other Hive projects, etc. So if this sounds like something you'd be interested in helping with (or you need help crafting your project's PR story), feel free to get in touch!

Really great initiative! You're the perfect "face" in my opinion for Hive :) It's amazing to see all these projects being built whether it's a marketing project or if it's a project building tools to make it easier to develop on here or people building easy to use interfaces it's all equally needed i think.

I am really excited about Threads, and @vaultec 's project VSC will really be game-changing when it comes out. Also @terracore just blows me away because of how gnome is so damn fast with pushing out updates I mean that dude is insanely good! + that it's open-source and people already are building on top of the game with their own take on it :D

Oh and yeah while I'm not personally the one who follows motor sports I think it's amazing af that Hive has it's own rally car out there!

Hey! I'm glad you're excited about the VSC project! I'm super excited to see where it goes over the next couple of months! Big things are in progress.

Thank you for saying so! I hope to be able to keep getting stories about Hive out there in the world :)

This level of advocation is what we need. Thanks for the work.

Cheers! Appreciate it :)

You, are someone who gets it.

Haha I try :)

You did a great job, congrats! Having Hive all over the web with its logo and stories of Hivers who accomplished great results on this chain, is what we need to spread the voice and attract new users :) — well done!

It's a nice logo too! So many things are called "Hive" out there that full branding is definitely important.

Great work brother. We need more people like you.

LFG!

Cheers, thank you for saying so :)

That is a really great piece of external awareness building!

Lots of small stuff really does make a difference, in the long run. Let's just consider how many people on Hive have Facebook accounts, and could easily add "content creator at Hive" as one of their things under "work."

I have a sidebar ad for Hive on my external blogs, as well. There are many free things people can do in a matter of minutes... all of which add to the number of data points that include the Hive brand.

=^..^=

Yes, all excellent points. It takes make interactions with a brand for someone to even start registering, usually. Brick by brick we will build up Hive's brand :)

This is awesome! congrats!

We've noticed a lot more people utilising web2 to highlight web3 recently! Every little bit of Buzz around Hive helps! Let us know if we can do anything to help!

!SLOTH

Just keep talking about Hive! And if you come across any good 'human' stories or undervalued posts do your best to surface them :)

Sounds like a plan! We're buzzing around where we can, and make sure to share our weekly curation reports around web2! We've just launched a Zealy campaign to try onboard some more users! This should add some more buzz to our Twitter!

Let's get a #Hive Buzz on!

Great job, thanks for spreading the word about Hive around!

My pleasure, thank you for all the tech work you do too!

Great idea!

In Web2, there's a similar process. The research part is what takes up a lot of time. But in Web2, instead of "snippets," I would send a letter of introduction to potential clients with a pitch and a strong call to action. On a good day, I'd get several bites. I still use this strategy when I'm looking for work, and it's been the most effective marketing method I've used in 17 years. I do like your approach, though.

The research part is what takes up a lot of time.

And it is the most common part people tend to skip or de-prioritize!

Because it's hard. And I've been guilty of it myself. But the best way to earn big money as a freelancer is to find a niche, aggressively market yourself to the people you want to work work, and charge what you're worth. It's not easy, but it's worth it.

Very nice! =) Congrats! !PIZZA

Thank you! Saw your DM, will respond soonly :)

Great initiative.

Thank you!

Awesome Jordy! Great initiative 👏!

Appreciate you saying so :)

Really interested we really need this in order to promote and introduce hive to others

good job :3

Great move on reaching out to like minded individuals and pitching them the idea. The Hive logo is really fitting and stands out! Thank you for the great work :)

Thank you!

Awesome work 🙌 And it also reminded me that I need to give Stakecube another nudge :) ...

Jump sounds interesting maybe a bit like paragraph.xyz which makes use of NFTs, collectible pages, gates for paid subscribers. You can even sign up using email or wallet which helps bridge between the two worlds.

I love whst you’re doing with this project and nust what hive needs.
