DIYHUB-Un momento muy experimental. [A very experimental moment.]

¿Qué es la joyería contemporánea? Con esta pregunta empezaba una de mis tareas más difíciles de la facultad hasta ahora, en la materia proyecto de accesorios exploramos mucho sobre diferentes formas de hacer, fue rápido, fue secuencial, pero al final fue experimental.

What is contemporary jewelry? With this question began one of my most difficult assignments in college so far. In the accessories project course, we explored many different ways of making jewelry; it was fast, it was sequential, but in the end, it was experimental.

Llegue a la conclusión de que una joya (hablando siempre de joyeria contemporanea) no se trata tanto de la forma, o su valor en el mercado por el material, si no que es una experiencia de expresión y valorización de elementos que no son tan valorados.

I came to the conclusion that a jewel (always speaking of contemporary jewelry) is not so much about the shape, or its market value due to the material, but rather an experience of expression and appreciation of elements that are not so valued.

Es una nueva forma de ver las cosas que no estamos viendo, las formas de pensar, lo que queremos transmitir, que color te da alegría? Tristeza? Caos? Enredo? Todas esas cosas se trabajaron en el cuatrimestre.

It's a new way of seeing things we're not seeing, ways of thinking, what we want to convey, what color brings you joy? Sadness? Chaos? Entanglement? All of these things were worked on during the semester.

Los materiales siempre fueron muy diferentes y particulares, la experimentación y la exploración personal fueron recursos que eran si o si de uso obligatorio.

The materials were always very different and unique; experimentation and personal exploration were resources that were absolutely mandatory.

Yo pase por muchos materiales, vela, alambre, descarte 3d, metal y latex, tornillos viejos, flores marchitas, encapsulados con plástico.

I went through many materials: candle, wire, 3D waste, metal and latex, old screws, withered flowers, encapsulated in plastic.

Los trabajos en esta materia tenían que ver mucho con la expresión de sentimientos y sensaciones internas que se reflejaran de forma clara, tanto en propuesta de fotos, así como también en la forma de usarse de estos elementos que íbamos creando.

The work in this area had a lot to do with the expression of internal feelings and sensations that were clearly reflected, both in the proposed photos, as well as in the way these elements that we were creating were used.

Hubo mucho trabajo de escribir y escribir para expresar que queríamos contar con todo esto, pero el proceso era rápido y agotador por momentos.

There was a lot of writing and writing involved to express that we wanted to include all of this, but the process was fast and exhausting at times.

Muchos de los elementos que logramos hacer fueron procesos que quedaron, ya que al final se eligieron unos pocos, se reversionaron otros, pero todo salió bien.

Many of the elements we managed to create were processes that remained, since in the end a few were chosen, others were reworked, but everything turned out well.

Lo más complejo fue el libro final, creo que, si hubiera tenido tan solo un día más y poder sentarme a pensar que quería hacer mis ideas serían muy diferentes, pero todo este caos de crear a contra reloj se terminó, aprendí muchísimo sobre expresión, manipulación y sobre todo tengo nuevas herramientas para la edición, quizás este verano practique nuevamente con ciertas cosas que me hubiera gustado hacer en ese libro final recopilatorio.

The most complex part was the final book. I think that if I had had just one more day and could sit down and think about what I wanted to do, my ideas would be very different. But all this chaos of creating against the clock is over. I learned a lot about expression, manipulation, and above all, I have new tools for editing. Perhaps this summer I will practice again with certain things that I would have liked to do in that final compilation book.
