Curator Cat: Having Fun With My New Catnip Mouse!

in HiveCatslast year

Greetings Fine Felines and Hoomans of Greater Hivelandia!

I hope this Wednesday evening is treating you well! Around here, it's cold and blustery night, so we're all just trying to hunker down and stay warm!

The reveal... what's this?

So the Mom-Hooman was away this last weekend... but all is forgiven because she brought me back a new catnip mouse from her travels! I love catnip!

So I spent a long time, running up and down the hallway and the stairs, having the best time I have had in a really long time!

Action shot! The fun begins!

I was making such a ruckus running around with my new mouse that Daisy the dog even had to come out and see what was going on!

Of course, I wasn't going to let her anywhere near my new mouse. But she's a very curious creature, our dog.

"Whatcha got there?" (Sorry about the grainy photo... it was pretty dark in the hallway)

After running about for about an hour or so, I'd finally had enough... and the catnip put me in a sleepy mood... time for a nap.

Of course, I positioned myself strategically between Daisy and the mouse. She knows her place, and really doesn't like walking past me, even when I am sleeping!

After several days — I was gifted the mouse on Sunday evening — I have chased it all over the house, sent it under several pieces of furniture the Hoomans had to come and move, and generally gotten it nice and dirty.

Normally, the most popular cat toys are the free ones, like boxes and bottle caps, but this was a marvelous and enjoyable exception!

And whenever the mouse loses a bit of its catnip scent, the Mom-Hooman dips its nose in our big jar of ground up catnip and then it's off to the races, again!

I have a pretty good life, don't you think?

Halloween Public Service Announcement!

As a black cat, I want to remind all cat lovers to remember to keep their black cats indoors from a couple of days before Halloween until a couple of days after Halloween.

There are some crazy and cruel people in this world who believe all sorts of strange superstitious things about black cats, and they will take us and possibly do horrible and cruel things to us, as part of their rituals.

Don't let something like that happen to your beloved fur friend!

And with that out of the way, I'm going to go back to my late night naptime... the Mom-Hooman is watching TV, and I like to sleep on her lap!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and typically has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
