Recently I fall in love with ancient buildings, I have visited more than three places within week. Baliati Jamindar Bari was my second destination and I had only couple of hours for the vast 16000 square metres.
Last week I visited the palace & it was beautiful but it looks like nobody is taking care of these beautiful palace. I could remember while I was in England I saw many buildings over 100 of years old standing in glory, here I see only ruins.
I found about seven buildings in this home of jamidar all though some of this buildings looks like older than others so we can assume that this buildings were not built at the same time. Building set the phone currently use for museum where a good watch the belongings of people living here.
Back side of this palace there is a beautiful pond which has 4 gate connected outside of the palace this is one of the finest specimen of 19th century.
Mr. Govinda Ram Saha was the founder of the Baliati Jamidar Bari and the structure & the way of organising palace is interesting.
There is four huge building at the front of the palace two of them is similar to look and another one looks older. There might be different uses of these building.
Behind these four huge building there are two or three other buildings and one of them end near the pond. The palace ends at Pond should be used as home of the people were living here. I have tried to look inside of the building and felt huge emptiness inside of my heart. People are living here and rule the area now only history.
Saturiya, Manikgonj is close enough from Dhaka but it is recommended to visit by personal vehicle but there is option for public transport which would be time consuming but inexpensive. Bus is the perfect options for budget traveller but you should manage your time before visit and choosing a sunny day is must. There are few palaces nearby so you should start your journey very early in the morning to watch few of them in the same day. I recommend if you have enough time try to stay in one place for at least 4/5 hours so that you could have enough knowledge about a place.
This is time to take care of these beautiful structure around the country, proper taking care and renovation wood attract more national and international tourist which could be one of the earning source of the country.
Thank you for your time, hope you enjoyed the writing and the palace.
