Halfway...

in BDCommunity2 years ago

The past few weeks have only been about eating, and a lot less reading. Only this chubby little tummy of mine has been "eating" properly, taking in all the nutrients and turning it into shit, whereas my mind has been starving to death. Thanks to the many events related to Eid, a ton of invitations, and a lot of guests and relatives kicking it at our place.

The only "reading" I did was here on Hive, my book "collection" barely got any attention. That consistent routine and streak of mine ended before it could even finish one damn book.

Yet, I'm not mad about it, at least I've managed to finish half the book in less than a month. That surely means I'm doing something right, my pace used to worse just a few years ago. Or maybe I'm just reading something that feels right, my kind of a book, one that's "worth" my time, a book that keeps be coming back for more.

I don't even know when was the last time I felt this way while reading a book, a book that has managed to keep me intrigued, something that actually feels engaging.

Reading really should be seen as a fun activity, it shouldn't be tagged as "boring", but sadly that's how most people see it. I say if it's boring, then you're probably reading the "wrong book". And if you really want to find the "right book" or genre at least, then you'll have to do some digging to find the type of books that are just for you.

Reading is for everybody and everyone should read, I believe there's a book for every single soul on this earth.

Problems is, that most people have already convinced themselves that reading is a boring hobby. They've probably read a book or two, which just weren't their type, and after that they just never looked back.

If you really want some answers and a list of books that suits your style, something that's actually worth your time, then you'll have to put in some effort first. Starting with a bit of research, it surely goes a long way. Maybe read a few "bad books" at first, try to find out what's for you and what isn't. Nowadays the process is much easier, just search for a short review at first, before actually buying the book, then you won't have to "waste" your money nor you time.

As I've mentioned before, I like reading about people's lives, learning from their experiences and the choices they've made in life. My goal is to learn more from other people, from their mistakes, and at least try to see the world from their point of view.

The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant has been a great read so far, but most of these things I've already heard or seen on Naval's social media or maybe from one of his Podcasts.

Yet, I will keep on reading, the more I read, more the chances of it all becoming a solidified part of me.

That's all folks, be seeing you all on the next update, take care for now.

Cheers 🥃

Reading through this, I felt like you were speaking to me directly but the thing is, you said the truth. I for one I hardly read a book and it's because I hardly get to read books that interest me.

It Was really nice reading from you @riz611. I hope to improve in my reading life with your advice.

I suggest you to do some research. Scour the internet for more books, reviews, highlights, whatever, just keep on searching, and sooner or later, I bet you'll find something that suits you.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'm glad that you at least found my post "read worthy" haha. Cheers 🥃
