Right Speech by David Roylance.

  • Refrain from lying
  • Refrain from slander
  • Refrain from harsh speech
  • Refrain from frivolous speech

Speak at the right time, what is true, what is beneficial, speak gently & from a mind of #Loving-Kindness

I'm glad I'm usually good at refraining from the first three... The one I'm struggling with refraining from is the "frivolous speech."

I have to step up, because even Islam tells us to not speak what does not benefit anyone. !LUV

I still have work to do on all of them, since the Teachings talk about not even "lying" while telling a joke.

An example would be sarcastic jokes, or exaggerating to make something funny.

People lose trust in us if we are dishonest, even while joking.

Now, that's something I might not be able to do... But I'll keep it in mind, even if I didn't stop exaggeration in jokes, I can still minimize the times I do joke.

Yes, it's a form of advice, but is not a commandment or a demand.

  • I can personally see in myself, for myself though, how I lose credibility while joking in ways that are not 100% truthful.

I only consider myself 1+ month in my studies & practice.
