Halloween night at home – La notte di Halloween in casa

Hello everyone!

As some of you know, Halloween is my favorite holiday! Before the Covid19 pandemic, it was my habit to celebrate it by participating in one of the biggest Cosplay events in Italy: Lucca Comics & Games. It is an exhibition, lasting 5 days, where an entire city (Lucca, in Tuscany) is completely decorated with a nerd theme!
Starting from the shops: the pharmacies, for these 5 magical days, sold magical potions, the clothing stores sold wands from the Harry Potter saga, ...
Furthermore, in the various pavilions you can find the latest news in the field of video games, board games and role-playing games, with the possibility of trying out the releases well in advance and buying gadgets, books, comics and games of all kinds at advantageous prices.
Many people participate every year in Lucca Comics and most of them dress up as characters from the world of manga, anime, movies and video games!

This year, however, Lucca Comics didn’t take place because in Italy we are in complete health emergency (again, sigh) and the new rules for the containment of Covid19 infections are increasingly restrictive.
So, for the first time, I spent Halloween at home and I must say that I enjoyed it anyway, especially because we were few but special people.

The program was simple: dinner and horror movies. The first thing to do was decorate the house in full Halloween style, adding cobwebs, balloons, napkins and themed candles. Yuppy!
Then we took care of the dinner:

• Crispy diced pumpkin cooked in the oven with salt, pepper and rosemary;
• Focaccia with tomato, mozzarella and basil;
• Mushroom lasagna with tomato and mozzarella;
• Cheesecake with berries.
  All accompanied with abundant Italian wine from the Tuscan hills!

The films proposed for the evening were The Conjuring I and II. They were very nice to watch, although I must say they weren't particularly scary.

Ciao a tutti!

Come alcuni di voi sanno, Halloween è la mia festa preferita! Prima della pandemia da Covid19, era mia abitudine festeggiarla partecipando a uno degli eventi più grandi di Cosplay in Italia: il Lucca Comics & Games. Si tratta di una fiera, dalla durata di 5 giorni, dove un’intera città (Lucca, in Toscana) veniva completamente addobbata a tema nerd!
A partire dai negozi stessi: le farmacie, per questi 5 magici giorni, vendevano pozioni magiche, i negozi di abbigliamento vendevano bacchette della saga di Harry Potter, … Inoltre, nei vari padiglioni si trovavano le ultime novità in tema di videogiochi, giochi da tavolo e giochi di ruolo, con possibilità di provare con largo anticipo le uscite e acquistare a prezzi vantaggiosi gadget, libri, fumetti e giochi di ogni tipo.
Moltissime persone partecipano ogni anno al Lucca Comics e la maggior parte si trasveste da personaggi appartenenti al mondo di manga, anime, film e videogiochi!
Un evento pazzesco, potete dare un’occhiata alle vecchie edizioni su questo sito.

Quest’anno, però, il Lucca Comics non c’è stato in quanto in Italia siamo in piena emergenza sanitaria (di nuovo, sigh) e le nuove norme per il contenimento dei contagi sono sempre più restrittive.
Dunque, per la prima volta, ho passato Halloween a casa e devo dire che mi sono divertita ugualmente, soprattutto perché eravamo “pochi ma buoni”!

Il programma è stato semplice: cena e film horror. La prima cosa da fare è stata addobbare la casa in pieno stile Halloween, aggiungendo ragnatele, palloncini, tovaglioli e candele a tema. Yuppy!
Poi ci siamo occupati della cena:

• Zucca a tocchetti croccante cucinata al forno con sale, pepe e rosmarino;
• Focaccia con pomodoro, mozzarella e basilico;
• Lasagna ai funghi con pomodoro e mozzarella;
• Cheesecake ai frutti di bosco.

Il tutto accompagnato con abbondante vino italiano delle colline toscane!

I film proposti per la serata sono stati The Conjuring I e II. Molto ben fatti, anche se devo dire che non erano particolarmente spaventosi.
