About 2 weeks ago, our friend @indextrader24 made a blog post reporting the purchase of a painting by a German artist named "H. Bach". I liked the picture, and I found the motif quite inspiring.

So today, I present to you my personal take on a "Cottage by the Lake" at night. To me, painting is a hobby, and I'm hardly ever selling my paintings. They're all on paper, and all have the same size (15¾" x 11⅞") so they make a nice, convenient stack which is growing steadily.

For now, all my paintings are in cellophane sleeves, so they can be handled and viewed. This is important to me, because part of the process of learning to paint is, referring back to previous works and checking on my progress. Other painters are using sketch books for this, but I find those unwieldy.

As I have no children there is a good chance that stack of paintings will end in some flea market one day. In fifty years perhaps somebody will buy one of my pictures there and enjoy hanging it on their wall, just like @indextrader24 did. Or the poor guy having to clean up after me when I'm gone chucks them all in the garbage. Who knows?
 

 
"Häuschen am See"

Vor etwa 2 Wochen hat unser Freund @indextrader24 in einem Blogbeitrag über den Kauf eines Gemäldes eines deutschen Künstlers namens "H. Bach" berichtet. Mir gefiel das Bild, und ich fand das Motiv inspirierend.

Deshalb stelle ich euch heute meine eigene Idee eines "Häuschens am See" bei Nacht vor. Für mich ist die Malerei ein Hobby, und ich verkaufe meine Bilder so gut wie nie. Sie sind alle auf Papier und haben alle die gleiche Größe (40cm x 30cm), so dass sie einen schönen, praktischen Stapel bilden, der stetig wächst.

Im Moment sind alle meine Bilder in Zellophan-Klarsichthüllen verpackt, so dass sie angefasst und betrachtet werden können. Das ist wichtig für mich, denn ein Teil des Lernprozesses beim Malen ist es, auf frühere Bilder zurückzugreifen und meine Fortschritte zu überprüfen. Andere Maler verwenden dafür Skizzenbücher, aber ich finde die eher unhandlich.

Da ich keine Kinder habe, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit groß, dass dieser Stapel von Bildern eines Tages auf einem Flohmarkt landet. In fünfzig Jahren wird vielleicht jemand eines meiner Bilder dort kaufen, es an seine Wand hängen und sich daran erfreuen, so wie @indextrader24. Oder der arme Kerl, der meinen Nachlass entrümpeln muss, wenn ich nicht mehr bin, schmeißt sie alle in den Müll. Wer weiß?
