Malanga está considerada hoy por hoy como la Banda de Pop-Rock (que hacen fusiones con ritmos afrocaribeños, salsa, balada y jazz) más importante del país.
Desde el año 1998, año de su fundación, es de las contadas bandas que aún se mantienen sus 4 integrantes originales: Arístides Barbella, guitarrista y solista, con una privilegiada voz y carisma para regalar; Rudy Pagliuca, guitarrista, trompetista y productor musical de varias de las principales nuevas bandas de Rock nacionales; Chapis Lasca, bajista, guitarrista y voz, venía de interpretar música venezolana y de ser bajista del grupo de música caraqueña "Los Cañoneros", músico compositor de gran talento y productor musical varios artistas de la nueva generación; Juan Luciow, baterista, quien estuvo un tiempo en Miami dedicado al Heavy Metal, y que quizás por eso es que tiene ese peso en la batería tan característico que logró darle el carácter más rockero a Malanga.
Son 4 los integrantes, pero en vivo suenan como la super-banda que son, y es importante resaltar que todos los temas son originales del grupo.
Varios de sus grandes éxitos son Déjala, Vueltas, Sácame el jugo, Te vas, Latin Lover, Si tú no estás, Acércate, De Caracas a Madrid, Mil copas, Un nuevo motivo (dedicada a nuestra selección nacional de fútbol La Vinotinto), y así muchos más.
Malanga ha sido una banda con mucho éxito desde su inicio, han realizado muchas giras a nivel nacional e internacional (siendo España una plaza que los acogió desde sus inicios); también se han presentado en todo tipo de escenario, desde locales, teatros, plazas, hasta grandes escenarios con público masivo; han recibido varios premios nacionales e internacionales; han alternado con grandes figuras como Fito Páez, Miguel Ríos, Sting, La Ley, Sheryl Crow entre otros, en fin, han tenido una gran carrera que está por resurgir después de unos años en receso.
Malanga is considered today as the most important Pop-Rock band in the country (they make fusions with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, salsa, ballads and jazz).
