All classic tunes! I love Redemption Song, I think it's one of the most beautiful songs in the universe. Funny, I never choose to listen to Marley as it can be a bit of a reggae cliche and then I put him on and.. bam! Legend (boom).

Anything under the Trojan label is great. I used to have an awesome double trojan CD mix with some great tunes on it I listened to whilst travelling in SE Asia.

I really love old school reggae, rocksteady always makes me happy. Like this old classic.

Yea Redemption Song really is one of the greatest songs of all time in my opinion. And Marley hehe he is a legend but I know what you mean about the reggae clich part, I think it is a bit like Elvis.

Oh yes Trojan label is the dogs bollocks, that must have been a great mix that you listened to!

Shanty Town is another classic, and old school reggae is just so happy and upbeat I love it too.

So fucken true @riverflows
I hate when someone tries to be cool and thinks every reggae song is Bob Marley.

My husband will NEVER play Bob Marley because that's all he heard while working at the hotels in Jamaica.
When I meet a foreigner who reels of some singers like Gregory Issacs, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Jimmy Cliff, George Nooks, John Holt, Ken Boothe and many other likes; then I can continue a conversation 😏😆

Ahahah Yes I can hold a reggae conversation that's for sure - please add some Dr Alimantado, THe Scientists, Judge Dread, JOhnny Clarke, Iration STeppas, Lee Scratch etc etc. To be honest the only reggae I knew when I left Oz was Peter Tosh (Dad had Bush Doctor, an album I love to this day) and Bob Marley as reggae wasn't a thing here, but when i moved to the UK i got to know it alright! Jamie used to do big reggae sound clashes and had a sound system with his mate in Brighton (talking '90's) and had tons of reggae records - i totally fell in love with both him and the tunes!

Dr Alimantado, THe Scientists, Judge Dread, JOhnny Clarke, Iration STeppas, Lee Scratch etc etc.

Now you're talking.

big reggae sound clashes and had a sound system

Oh.how.I.miss.those.days!!

In my early twenties I attended big reggae festivals in Jmaiaca, and I would stay till the wee hours of the morning when the sun came out and I needed by shades, just to watch those old acts perform. It was total bliss... got home showered, and would be on shift... but it was all worth it.

Those are some precious memories I have of growing up in Jamaica:))))

Amazing.. what awesome memories!!! You're lucky to have them..

Fabulous selection of songs, Ed! I have to agree with you on Judy Mowatt... she is incredible. Her voice reminds me of someone... I cannot place my finger on it. Marvelous, truly. Her voice is beautiful, powerful, rhythmic. I'll have to explore her music a bit more now, thanks! As for The Tide is High, I only ever recall having listened to the Blondie version which I always enjoyed. For me I think I will stick with that haha. And Redemption Song just had to lead the three. Great lyrics, emotive and sincere. Nice simple clean sound. Great post all round. I enjoyed it. !PIZZA !ALIVE !LUV

Thanks so much Sam, yes Redemption Song is just a classic. Judy Mowatt her voice is out of this world and she has sung some fantastic stuff!
Hehe yes I am a huge Blondie fan and one of the bands that I have seen the most throughout the years!

Oh, Super Ed! This selection is super cool. I love Bob Marley listening to it is reminiscent of beach days in the Caribbean when I was young, hehe. But you rocked with The Tide Is High, I love that song whatever the version, and by The Paragons is the original one;). And I haven't listened to it for so long. The tide is high but I'm holding on. I'm gonna be your number one hehe This will be the one stuck in my mind this week. 😉

hehe thank you Super Eli, Yes I remember chilling on the beaches in Barbados listening to Bob Marley and sipping a rum or three!

Ah three classics there @tengolotodo . I actually thought it was Blondie that did the bloody original. This has been the biggest surprise since I listened to Stevie Wonders Pastime Paradise. untitled.gif

hehe I did think there would be a few surprised that The Tide Is High was not a Blondie original!

Reading this via Dreemport

Well you probably have heard Judy Mowatt as she was a backing singer to Bob Marley:)

Bob Marley is a legend! His song "One Love" is my favorite :) Happy Hump Day, uncle Ed!

One love is just superb and I know you love that one Mrs P:)

I missed it again! 😩I really need to write this in my calendar. I have a few tunes I want to share with you in the TTTs! 🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵

#ttt #threetunetuesday

Oh no, you did it again!
I shall try to remind you next Monday or Tuesday!

Oh no, you did it again!

Why does that phrase remind me of Britney Spears!? Does she have a song with that title? 🤔

I shall try to remind you next Monday or Tuesday!

That is very kind of you! Thanks!

I'm going to prepare ahead of time, maybe schedule the Post that way it can go automatically on Tuesday! Why didn't I think about that before!? 😫

hehe yes now I am trying to think, but it reminds me of Britney Spears too!

Yes if you write beforehand and schedule that would be cool,, for some reason scheduling never seems to work for me when I try it!

Oh no! Now I can't get it (the Britney Tune) out of my head!!! 🤯🤣

haha once it is there it will take ages to go🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣👍

When I started reading your post, I thought to myself, well here is a post I just may not have anything to say until I saw reggae and also saw that you love redemption song. That song will always remain my all time favourite reggae. The words of the song are deep and each time I sing it, I feel like what Bob sang several years ago is what we are still suffering in Nigeria but this time around we need freedom from our own politicians, people we have chosen to rule us but turns out they are out to make life very unbearable for us.

Redemption song is so so powerful and it applies to Nigeria. Those corrupt politicians forget that they are not to rule the people but there to serve the people, I know what I would do to them.
I do love reggae big time, so zyzy thought that she would not like the music I like. Well I love music of all tastes so you will be surprised;)

Hehehe, you seem to be a man of many wonders you know. And...about the corrupt politicians, please what would you do to them? We need help over here!

And...about the corrupt politicians, please what would you do to them?

24 hours no laws ~ I would take care of them!!!

Hello hello, Super Ed!
I'm here again :) via you know jeje Dreemport
So The tide is high but I'm holding on. I'm gonna be your number one hehe

Good evening to you, Super Ed!

Judy Mowatt really is amazing Super Eli, I love her voice and she really helped out female artists!

Dreemport

oh one coffee, and how would Deraa like it? Listen to Black Woman and I am sure you will like it!

Great choice as always. I love reggae. Bob Marley ... it's always a pleasure to listen to him.
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this version of The tide is high from 1966. It’s cool.
And Black woman, I'm listening to it for the third time right now, relaxes me a lot. Judy is fantastic. Thank you for this. 😊🤗

Oh you are a reggae fan too Jelena, woohoo cool!
Yes Black Woman is an awesome song, her voice is just music itself, I go on binges listening to her music I love her voice!
Yes I thought people might not have heard of the original 60s version of The tide is high:)

Great tunes @tengolotodo 😊

They certainly are, Jamaica as you know has amazing music and the most awesome musicians Milly ;)

Yeah, music is one thing I miss being away from home.
Your post made me smile;)

ah yes, I am not surprised you miss that!
Oh well, for next Tuesday I did promise that I would do three tunes from female reggae artists from Jamaica. Let's see if I can get you to smile again!

Ok, that's something to look forward to.
I think I participated in this once when I was still living in the Philippines. I should pop by that community to see what's going on :)))

Oh you should go check it one day:)
Ah yes I wonder what you posted!

Beres Hammond is well respected by all ages and classes of people in Jamaica, for his mellow smooth voice, and lover's rock lyrical music. Typical Jamaicans don't like dreadlocks (rasta) so the older generations like my parents hated Bob Marley.
However, Beres Hammond did not have the international appeal (in terms of looks) as Bob Marley did.

When I go to festivals in Jamaica, it doesn't matter what time Beres come on...I'll wait, even if I don't sleep for day... well, that was my younger days. I haven't been to Jamaica in ages, and it will take me some readjusting back into the society there, before I feel comfortable to go to big festivals.

Doing the auld musical listening rounds later than usual this week, but do them I shall! Three solid picks week, can't beat a bit of Reggae

HIVE is global and music is global, there are tunes amongst #ttt to suit EVERY musical taste, so let's get rocking!

That's it exactly man, and I love the surprise element too, you have no idea what you might get.

I love Bob Marley who doesn't! and I especially love Redemption song which was the first song I ever learned on the Guitar.

The Tide Is High original is the best by far, Blondie shmondie.... and Atomic who!!? 😁

Atomic who hahahaha
You would be surprised how many Jamaicans do not like Bob Marley or any rasta reggae artists! Yeah Redemption Song is a classic and a real political statement, that is well cool that you learnt that one first on the guitar.
Well done you!

Ya I remember hearing this alright.

Toots and the Maytals would be probably my favourite Reggae act.

Oh they were so cool, I think Toots passed away not that long ago.
It was him who coined the word reggae , Do The Reggay and I can see why you have them as your favourite Reggae act!

Ya he died a couple of years ago, 2020 I think, another legend joins the rest in the sky, some serious gigs going on up there..

It is a bloody shame, yeah heavenfest gigs are getting more and more awesome, unfortunately.
