Today I bring you three artists instead of two for @psos challenge: Music A to Z Challenge #P! 😉

  • 3 artists / bands starting with the letter P:

1) Patricia Barber

Style: Jazz / Piano
Country: USA

Patricia Barber is a very creative Jazz pianist. She's the daughter of Floyd "Shim" Barber, a Jazz Saxophonist who played with Bud Freeman and Glenn Miller and she started playing music very young, while still a child.

She started playing in bars and cafés... and today she has a vast discography of 13 original albums, spanning from 1989 to 2019.

She has excellent original songs... but to date, my favourite interpretation of her is a cover of the world famous song Black Magic Woman, originally released by Fleetwood Mac, in 1968.

The original version was a rock song... and the cover made by Patricia Barber is a totally different record, being a Jazz tune all the way through. The piano solos on this song are out of this world. 🤗

Sorry, there is no video for this one. Here it is... the live cover of Black Magic Woman, by Patricia Barber:

I hope you loved this as much as I did.

2) Pink Freud

Style: Jazz / Electro-Jazz
Country: Poland

Now let's travel to the Eastern of Europe... and meet one of the most original bands coming out from Poland in the 90's. This band mixes Jazz with Electronic Music to create some of the most interesting sounds I've ever heard. 😎

Pink Freud is formed by Wojtek Mazolewski, the leader and double bass player of the band, Adam Milwiw-Baron on the trumpet and electronics, Karol Gola on the baritone saxophone and Rafal Klimczuk on the drums.

This is one heck of a creative group of musicians who have become one of the most important Polish Jazz groups in Poland. Just listen to this amazing live performance of the song Laughing Quarter:

3) PJ Harvey

Style: Rock / Alternative Rock
Country: UK

And last but not the least... I bring you another musician who has been around for decades but which lately has become somewhat forgotten.

Polly Jean Harvey started her musical career in 1988 as the lead singer of a band called Automatic Dlamini. 3 years later, she started her own musical group, entitled the PJ Harvey Trio and from that moment she has always been performing under the artistic name PJ Harvey.

She has released nine studio albums, two albums in collaboration with John Parish and lots and lots of singles and videoclips. To Bring You My Love is probably the song which catapulted her into stardom... and it's very likely you've already heard and know the song, even if you don't know who plays it. 😉

Back in 1996, she has joined forces with Nick Cave and the both of them produced some really high quailty music.

One of my favourite tracks from PJ Harvey is Down By The Water. I love the whole track... but specially the whispering vocals at the final:

I hope you have liked these 3 artists / bands. 😁

PJ Harvey, what?! I just flashed back to a time some decades before this one. 👍🏿

Yeay! She was very cool! 🤗
How are your adventures on the other side?

Insert your favorite curse word here followed by Miserable.

We just learned yesterday we stand a chance at flying the F home in July which is really dope cuz the day before yesterday, it was looking like August.

That's awesome news. The flights in Portugal are opening up this weekend, it seems. Lets see how it goes.

At first, I thought you are talking about Pink Floyd, later I saw it's Pink Freud :P

Ahahhaahahahahah! 😂
Yeah, they are two totally different bands!

Exactly :P

Yay!
