It's A Whole Vibe This Tuesday - Three Tune Tuesday

in Music2 years ago (edited)

It's Tuesday and finally I have remembered Three Tune Tuesday. I always seem to miss it, but not today. Today I even spend some time, thinking about the music I wanted to share with you all. I was doing some painting earlier today and I was listening to these three artists.

It's all about Reggae and Dub today. Hence the Lyrics by Jimmy Cliff on the window above. (Put there for a Reggae Party, I had one time.)

The day just flew past as I sang along to these tunes. Not only is the music great, but so too are the lyrics.

If you are a musician, you have an opportunity to use your skill, your voice to help raise awareness. It doesn't have to be all the time, but I think it is important, that if you have something to say, then it be informative and empowering.

That's one of the reason's why I chose these songs. Because, I want to feel empowered and inspired when I listen to music, nowadays. I want it to motivate me, to be the best version of myself.

I hope you all enjoy my choices. The last video has more that one song, so technically there are more than three songs,so it's more like three artists Tuesday for me lol. But you will understand why I had to include them all, when you listen to it.

Thanks to @blaze for creating this wonderful initiative, which is in it's 70th week now. Well done my friend, that's very impressive, I must say.

First up is Mike Love , an Hawaiian Conscious Reggae artist. He is quite the musician and I love how he uses his voice to add more depth to this music. He beatboxs and uses a loop machine and his arrangement of this song is amazing. I imagine that this is not an easy song to copy, not how he preforms it here.

On top of that, the lyrics are amazing, this is someone who sees the system for what it is and openly rejects it. That's my kind of person to be honest, as all that he has to say, really resonated with me. I listen to this song so often, that now my children sing a long with it as well, whenever I put it on.

I won’t be manipulated, mind-controlled, and inundated
I will seek the Revelation, make my life a celebration
I will be the change I’m seeking, manifest the words I’m speaking
I refuse to be imprisoned. I will make my own decisions
I’m on a permanent holiday
I’m going outside to play
I ain’t gonna slave away
Not for no corporate babylon
I’m never gonna be a pawn in their manipulation games

Next is Dub Princess, a female artist who hails from Cumbria in the U.K.. She has such a beautiful voice and he has sang with many dub artists around the world after starting her musical career busking on the streets in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K.

In 2021 she teamed up with the Hotsteppa's to release this song no fear.

Have no fear, don't lose your temper,
No fear, time will make it better,
No fear, don't be so hard on yourself,
it's not good for your mental health.
No rush, lets make it nice and easy,
just trust, I got some time yeah there's plenty.

This is one song that I love to sing along with, her voice is so soulful and this whole arrangement just creates such a lovely vibe. Enjoy!

Lastly we have Protoje, a Jamaican Reggae artist. I only began listening to him, last year, when I came across this Tiny Desk Concert. I love this whole arrangement, the band are great and I love the addition of the violin, it adds a whole other vibe to the set.

Listening to this video, makes me so happy. The whole vibe is so chilled and laid back and really positive as well. The last track is probably my favourite, it's called 'Who Knows', the original features Chronixx, another Jamaican Reggae artist, but I much prefer this version, here are some of the lyrics ......

Who knows, who knows, who knows, who knows
I just go where the trade winds blows
Sending love to my friends and foes
And I suppose I'm pleased
To be chilling in the West Indies
Jah provide all my wants and needs
I got the sunshine rivers and trees
Green leaves... oh yea

Here are also some lyrics from the song 'Strange Happenings'. I just love the awareness he promotes through his lyrics. This is what I want to listen to and want my girls to hear.

When I was just a young boy, maybe like seventeen
I would talk to my father, told him about my dreams
And often he would tell me "Don't rush to be a man"
I heard the words that he spoke, but could not understand
'Cause to me life was easy, it was just fun and games
Until I saw that people were filled with so much pain
It's harder to share sometimes, easier to pretend
The way we treat each other, I just don't comprehend

Oh wow, what a delight for the ears!! Dub Princess has a very special way about her and what an amazing voice she has too.

Protoje is pure class, love a bit of Jamaican rap, it just works. The Tiny Desk Concerts are just the best, it's always a great way to happen upon some great new music.

Mike Love another quality shout and I love his "revolutionary consciousness music" as he dubs it himself. I love that live performance too, serious talent. Great to see him using his craft to tell some truths.

So happy that you enjoyed them @ablaze. they are all such wonderful artists.
And yes to Tiny Desk Concerts, there have been some amazing performances, blew me away really xxxx
