Juliana

A pesar de que República Dominicana no es un país que sea gran "productor" de músicos de salsa, hay algunos nombres que han destacado ampliamente, como el gran Johny Pacheco o José Alberto "El Canario". Ese es el caso también de Cuco Valoy quien se ha hecho merecedor de innumerables reconocimientos, incluyendo un Grammy Latino.

Valoy ha destacado como músico, cantante y también como compositor. Uno de los temas que más disfruto yo al cantar y que lo tengo en mi repertorio desde hace muchos años, es "Juliana". Su versión de este tema, de 1978, es una maravilla, pero la versión que grabó el grupo neoyorquino DLG en 1995, bajo la producción de Sergio George, le dio un nuevo aire y la llevó a las nuevas generaciones. Fue esta versión la que me hizo incluirla en mi repertorio, para lo cual yo mismo preparé la pista en formato midi y es la que se escucha de fondo.

Es este magnífico tema mi entrada para el Hive Music Festival, semana 11, ronda 4.

Adicional a lo bueno del tema, en esta oportunidad preparé un video un tanto más elaborado que otros, para el disfrute mío y de todos los que lo vean. ¡Espero que les guste!

Although the Dominican Republic is not a country that is a great "producer" of salsa musicians, there are some names that have stood out widely, such as the great Johny Pacheco or José Alberto "El Canario". That is also the case of Cuco Valoy who has won countless awards, including a Latin Grammy.

Valoy has stood out as a musician, singer and also as a composer. One of the songs that I most enjoy singing and that I have had in my repertoire for many years is "Juliana". His version of this song, from 1978, is a marvel, but the version recorded by the New York group DLG in 1995, under the production of Sergio George, gave it a new air and brought it to the new generations. It was this version that made me include it in my repertoire, for which I prepared the track myself in midi format and it is the one you hear in the background.
