Made of Ice

Winter is back here in the valley and I feel a bit like being inside of one of the books by the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, which my mother read to me when I was a child.
Sometimes it looks exactly like one of the illustrations, when I look out of the window. Only without the kids, playing in the snow.

So I'm mostly inside, next to the fireplace, to stay warm.
But I try to go for a walk every day, not to get stuck in front of the computer the whole day ^^
I've never really been a computer person, but since I discovered digital painting, and try to get a foot in the door of the nft business, I'm doing a lot of art and sometimes loose myself in creating :-)

But another art, that I love doing, is photography. And I love taking pictures of nature :-)
So here are some from my walk yesterday. I love the different shapes, the ice creates around the plants. I wish I had a better camera, but for now, my phone will have to suffice.

I feel very privileged to live here right now, experiencing a proper winter, far away from all the things that are happening right now on the world's stage, which are definitely a bit frightening sometimes.
But I feel very safe here.
And until the transformation is finished and the happy end is in sight, I'm waiting here, enjoying the beautiful nature around me and the freedom and time, to make as much art as I like :-)

Have a beautiful day, everyone!

Good ice shots.
If you will allow me, I will share one observation on photo processing.

Ice and snow look fresher when the image is brighter. All I did with your photo was to lighten the shadows and add a little more white in the Lightroom settings.
But I could be wrong and you like dark tones better.
Anyway, your photos are great :)

Thank you, I feel very honored, reading that from you, I've seen your photography! <3
And wow, yeah, that looks much better. I think I wanted the structure of the ice to be more visible, but this way I kind of neglected color of the rosehips and picture as a whole.
Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate that! Please never ever hold back with things like that, I'm always happy to learn! :-)

I am glad that you correctly perceived my desire to share my experience
If you processed photos in Lightroom, then there is such a tool as a radial filter. You can select only the ice area and give it more contrast or sharpness. The rest of the frame will remain the same. Probably there is a similar tool in other programs.

I, too, appreciate the comments more than anyone else, where something constructive and useful is suggested. This way you can learn something new.
Have a good weekend @anafae :)

I work with Affinity Photo. There are selection tools, where I can change a particular area, I just don't use that very often ^^
I definitely could be a bit bolder, when it comes to editing. I'm always a bit too cautious, not wanting to loose the naturality of the picture and afraid to make it look "overedited". Still learning and experimenting :-) So thanks again for your help, that's awesome! <3

Treat photo editing like a game, you can't be serious all the time. Experiment. Comparing the results, you will better understand what you need and how you want it. And you will master the tools and methods of photo editing so better.

Nice pictures! Enjoy the snow!

In the valley I live in (The Thracian Valley) it is spring-like weather. But I live in the warmest place of the country.

By the way, just curious, I suppose you live somewhere in the outskirts of Stara Planina mountains. Aren't you afraid to meet wolves/bears while walking alone outside in the snowy weather? Or the place where you live is located next to a village/small city, so that, the wild animals don't approach your territory.

Thanks! :-)
The property is not far from a little village and a road, so I don't think there's a high risk of meeting a wolf or a bear. We only hear the jackals at night sometimes, but we've never seen one. They don't seem interested in humans ^^

Uh, thank you so much! Also for reblogging <3
Yeah, I also love the contrast between the red fruit, the white snow and the dark branches. Makes great pictures. I'm lucky, that there are rosehips growing here all winter :-) They are also very tasty, by the way, I actually picked them, after I took the photos ^^

Uh, hard to explain, sweet and fruity. They are a bit difficult to eat, because of the seeds. I usually dry them and use them for tea. But I've also made syrup a couple of times. I don't know ... I think, I haven't posted about it yet, maybe I should.
They're full of vitamin C, so quite healthy :-)

I'll see to it :-) I think I've took photos during the process ...
