Odissi Dance Performance - 2 dancers

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

From Wikipedia

Odissi (Odia: ଓଡ଼ିଶୀ), also referred to as Orissa in old literature, is a major ancient Indian classical dance that origin in the Hindu temples of Odisha – an eastern coastal state of India.[1][2][3]

Last weekend we again went for our second dance/cultural event in many years. This was a beautiful auditorium run by Seva Sadan, Bangalore. There were multiple performances and this one is from the last one - an Odissi dance Performance.

The stage was beautifully lit and we were sitting very close to the stage. Most of the photos were shot at 55mm or so !

The first photo is shot when the dancer was stand-still and came out quite sharp. Tech details : Nikon Z9, ISO 200, 1/400s, 2.8f @ 77 mm. I never attempted to touch my F-stop as I tend to shoot with high aperture values until I want to try something like a landscape or a lighted up scene in a controlled environment.

This is shot at ISO 125, 1/160s, 2.8f @ 62 mm with Nikon Z9. This shot is a moment frozen from lot of movements.

This is quite sharp I believe and the big version is here

So that's a sneak peak of last weekend's adventures. I do have photographs of 2 more dancers to post. I ended up shooting too many images at first as it took me a while to get adjusted to the new camera and its settings. Plus looks like I over-used the 20 FPS luxury bit too much & transferring the photos directly from the camera over a USB, sorting and editing is turning out to be a time consuming endeavor . I need to a CFExpress Type B card reader ASAP to get my workflow on track !

Thank you so much @stevenson7

Nikon Z9 is proving to be quite good so far. I upgraded from a 10 year old D800 so there are many upgrades across the board and it took me around 25 seconds to get used to the body as the ergonomics too good. Same good old ergonomics enjoyed by the Canon and Nikon users.

I need to upgrade soon for sure 😊

Dear @bobinson, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
