After a long gap of many years, perhaps 5 years, I have witnessed and shot a classical dance performance. This was a Bharatanatyam performance by Parshwanath Upadhye and one of disciples.

For me this was also first shoot with the new Nikon Z9.

Parshwanath Upadhye is an Indian classical dancer, choreographer and teacher.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] He is trained in the traditional Mysore style of Bharatanatyam.

Along with his wife Shruti, Parshwanath choreographs, directs, produces and presents his work at national and international venues under the banner of Upadhye School of Dance and Punyah Dance company, Bangalore, India.

The show narrated the touching tale of a father daughter relationship from the Indian mythology.

[The young girl who performed along with her Guru is indeed an upcoming promise.]

The show had excellent lighting. Though I was unfortunate to sit in a bit awkward position.

The photos are shot with a Nikon Z9 and a nikon 80-200 2.8f which is unfortunately not fully supported, ie doesn't support full auto focus. This has given me some challenge as I had to play with the settings for focus peaking and ISO to get going.

The traditional dresses and jewelry which the dancer is wearing are very impressive. Also the bright colors suits to these young dancers.

Yea, they have very ornamental jewelleries
