A sweet old lady

I have been dog sitting for my parents for almost a week now while they are on vacation in Hawaii. Their dog’s name is Bella and she is like 12 years old now.

I have never liked her and we usually get stuck watching her while my parents are out of the country, but this time, I have been trying to be a bit more happy with the fact that we have to watch her for about 2 weeks.

She is so old and frail now and I think this may be the last time that we ever see her, unless I go down and visit my parents. So while she is here, I have been pampering her. She has had like four litters of puppies, so she is probably a great great grandma by now, so I want to make sure that she has a fun time while she is here and she feels loved.

Our husky isnt the biggest fan of her being here, probably because she has nipped at him in the past, but I have been making sure that he plays nice. I don’t want him stepping on her and breaking her back while my parents are away. They did have another dog that Bella grew up with, but he died a few months ago, so I am sure she is lonely. That is one of the main reasons I want to make sure she has a good time while she is here.

Dusty has never seen a little dog before, so he was pretty curios the first couple days. Now he doesn’t pay her too much attention. He is too busy taking cat naps and chillin.

I have about a week and a few more days with Bella before my parents get back. Hopefully she has a good time while she is here and she is happy.

That's a big thing you've gotta look out for with big dogs and small dogs, that the big ones don't step on them. I just adopted my sisters two year old full bred boxers, and my parents have Poms. The oldest fella is around 12 and the boxer always tries to play with him by putting his paw on his back.

Honestly there is something about small dogs that I don't really like, especially ones with a sharp bark!

Our husky doesnt try and step on her at all, he mainly just blocks areas so she can't get to them. Our lab is clumsy and when he is excited about food, he forgets how big he is. We used to have boxers back when we lived in Texas and they are pretty crazy when they play.

I know what you mean about not liking small dogs. They are just weird. They have always been the ones that end up biting people and other pets too.

I've been around pits for a long time. Hell, I split my head open once and my brothers pit who was trained as an actual guard dog came over, licked the blood off my face, and slept with me that night. Not once have I ever been bit by one. Now my parents dogs that's a different story. I would be petting them then all of a sudden they'd snap and try to bite me.

Ya, I’ve only ever been bit by little dogs. They are psycho.

That is one fine looking hound. Just an FYI: Boiled chicken makes any dog your friend. Boiled chicken and bacon.

She isn't getting any of that from me. I don't want to mess up her diet and have her shitting all over my house. lol. She does get treats tho, just what my parents brought for her.

Peanut butter, in very small amounts, is fairly safe for any dog and their diet. A little goes a long way, and it doesn't make for any...unnecessary clean up.

We have a rough little guy at our house, and he can be feisty around non-familiar environments. You get that spoon of peanut butter out and he will be your best friend for as long as you are around.

I also have a female dog and her little brother abandoned him due to illness some time ago, they certainly do get depressed. I can't imagine what it would be like at such an age and so many years together.

Thats so sad. Give her a big hug for me.

What a lovely dog Bella is! She looks so lonely though. Maybe because of the dog that died and your parents out of town.

Dusty looks scary! Or maybe that's a yawn. 😁

Your parents sure are having the time of their lives. 😊
I haven't tried dog sitting ever in my life but I want to! It's also a test if I can really have pets. 😄

Lovely shots by the way! The details are awesome to look at!

Thank you. She does seem like a sad lonely dog. I just hope that she is having a good time while she is here.

Look at this madam! My fella was 14 years old when he said goodbye to us. It is so funny to be with them in all stages of life. Youngster, full of energy and senior, calmer but still full of life. Gotta love dogs! Nice photography skills my friend.

Thanks. It really has been weird seeing her in her different stages of life. My wife and I hated her when they first brought her to our home because she was so mean to all of our other pets. Luckily now she is a lot more calm.

Great captures 😎
She is indeed an old lady.
Have a great Thursday!

Thank you. I hope you have a great day as well.

You are welcome 👋🏻😊 thanks a lot! Enjoy yours.

Oh man, it's so bad that she is alone now after long time. She looks so cute to me. I'm sure you are doing great with taking care of her because you are already a cat and dog dad 😅

My parents have two kittens that she gets to play with back home, but I can tell that she misses their other dog that she grew up with.

Of course she misses her old friend man. I empathize with her and I can understand her very well. I hope she can get used to her new friends soon.

Is she a little dachshund mix? (Hard to tell her size from the photos). I have two dachshunds 11 & 13. So all doxies pull at my heartstrings. Their lives are too short and despite your feeling for her over the years it is great you are giving this old lady some love during her visit.

Ya, she is. When we first moved to Utah, my parents bred her with another Dachshund that belonged to my friend and they had the weirdest little noodle babies.

it's touching that you're going out of your way to make her feel comfortable and loved during her stay with you, especially considering her old age and potential loneliness. The way she looks at you is out of this world, her cuteness and innocence is priceless.Thank you for sharing this beautiful post with us!

Thanks for stopping by

Nice shots!!

So cute Bella looking very beautiful. I liked it so much 😍😘
