Light Painting in the Calhan Painted Mines

Sometimes I feel like a graffiti artist

In pursuit of cool shapes and impressive colors, I travel often and far. As a light painter, I tend to add colors to whatever I come across. Also, My CO2 footprint is not exactly anymore a politically correct joke. This time we talk about what's too much.

I have been questioning that approach and trying to get out of this corner by testing the limits. In all directions to say the least. Collateral is here the taste of the people living along the lines of what's considered "taste".

If you take that thought a step further, one can argue that Light Painter adding more light or color to a surface its a remix when you create the foto or is it like a graffiti artist covering something up?

Was gefällt ist eben Geschmackssache eben.

More Colors? Sure

As if the colors that nature provides are not enough. Well if you have some colors, you might want to at least try it. Often I used way too much color and often not a needed feature. I do question the use of colors often. Here is a fun example. Nature provides already a colorful scene, yet a light painter walks into the scene and has to add more. Well as always a matter of taste. As an artist one has to explore the limitations of taste I guess. Even if it's their own acceptance.

But lets call it setting some highlights.

As I always try to add more colors and features I force myself to get a clean simplistic shot with no extra colors. So that when I come home I can also share what nature provided here as "default" which is often enough already mind-blowing!

It's a fine line to walk and I would argue this time I walled on top of it spilling creativity on both sides of allowed and welcome to also crossing a line.

So often I want to walk that line because I know I want to push it. If I don't do it at that moment I may regret it when I am home. I do already way too often. Sometimes I get the coolest idea when I am in the car on my way home. Or I sit in the car and regret not testing a loud color.

Want to see some Painted Mines Impressions again?

Once again I share here is the first view when you reach the area. Earth is opening up and then you see the wonderful colors and shapes of these rock formations. Definitely worth visiting.

I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate. I am happy to share my knowledge.

If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...

All there is left to say is Cheer Up!

Wow,awesome sharing @gunnarheilmann that look totally amazing.

Wonderful and beautiful colours, thanks for sharing

Thank you sooo much ... happy when you like em.

Spectacular :) Without the lights, those night scenes would be invisible on camera. Thank you for sharing them, both the natural and the light paintings :)

adding more light or color to a surface its a remix when you create the foto or is it like a graffiti artist covering something up?

Adding more light is simply revealing what is there - and adding color is like using the surface as a temporary canvas.

It does no harm, leaves no trace, and is a beautiful art form :)

Are you familiar with Dreemport, by the way?

Glad you took the time to have a closer look and viewed it with interest. Cheers.

Great job, i see why you like lightning painting so much.

Yes, that has been a great driver for me in the past years. Glad you like it.

Incredible shots! If you would manage to add the milky way above the stones either if it's natural or through Photoshop, it will turn out into a photo that anyone would love to have framed on the wall!

Happy when you like it. Usually, I wait for nature to show off its beauty and capture the moment as it was. I usually refrain from Photoshop effects. The aim is to do it in real life without tricks .. also I am way too lazy. So what you see on my profile is usually real there is no Photoshop.

ufff....those colors and mountains are just from another world

I loved the first pictures!! They are stunning! I stayed looking at them for a few minutes!
