I haven't completely abandoned photography

Anyone who has ever followed my blogs has certainly learned a thing or two about photography. It was always a great passion of mine. And fair is fair... I look forward to the day when I can pick it up again without worries. The day I can start shooting again the way I wanted to. That won't happen to me as long as I spend most of my time in and around the house. But even in this day and age when I don't feel like getting out my expensive SLR camera, I haven't completely abandoned photography. Of course not! Also during this time I have many moments when I want to take a quick photo. That is not a photo like I would take with my SLR. Absolutely not! It's not about the technical part, it's just about capturing the moment. And that makes it so nice that nowadays you can also do a lot of beautiful things in terms of photography with a Smartphone.

Easier than ever for anyone

Smartphones have revolutionized the way we take photos and videos. They've made it easier than ever for anyone to capture a moment and share it with the world. Today, there are tons of apps available for photography enthusiasts of all levels to help get better at taking photos, and the great thing is that you don't even need to have any photography experience. You don't need to know anything about photography either. You could say that Smartphones are an art form when it comes to photography. The technology that goes into such a thing is amazing. You can use your Smartphone under almost any circumstances, and there are nice AI tricks incorporated so that photos with multiple people almost never fail. There is a small chance that you will photograph several people with their eyes closed. The Smartphone automatically snaps when everyone has their eyes open. If you set that. A lot is possible with a Smartphone these days. What about the many photo editing options never before available on point-and-shoot cameras or DSLRs. Which means they can be used by anyone who wants to take great photos without knowing much about cameras or photography in general.

The advantages of a Smartphone

Because I myself usually let my expensive DSLR collect dust in its bag lately, I thought it would be nice to make a list of the advantages of a Smartphone for many people.

  • You can take great photos without knowing much about cameras
Think of all the times you wanted to take a great shot but didn't know how to go about it. Maybe you wanted to take a selfie with your friends or show them a special moment, but didn't know how to use a camera or get the lighting just right. Now with a smartphone, all you have to do is point it at something you want to capture, press the shutter button and your picture is taken. Learning how to take photos on your smartphone will help you take great photos even if you don't know much about cameras or photography. You can learn more about taking better photos by learning about the different camera sensors and settings available on your device.

  • Smartphones have sensors for taking good photos in low light
Many smartphones today have sensors that can help you take better photos in low-light conditions. This is possible because smartphones can have sensors that can also work in low light, whereas with a conventional camera you can only do this if you know how to work with a slow shutter speed, or if you can add artificial light (flash photography) . This means you can take photos even in low light without worrying about the lack of light, as your smartphone automatically adjusts the exposure of the image you capture, making it possible to take photos even in poorly lit areas.

  • Smartphones have photo editing capabilities
Most smartphones today have powerful photo-editing capabilities that make it easy to fix photos you don't like. In fact, some smartphones now have the ability to take photos from scratch and are therefore more useful than ever for those who want to edit images. With the ability to easily correct photos and create all kinds of special effects, a smartphone is a great device for making your photos look their best. The photo editing capabilities of smartphones have improved enormously in recent years thanks to AI technology that is now available in most smartphones. Did you focus wrong? No problem for today's smartphone. And yes, I know, this technology is also starting to make its way into DSLRs. But the Smartphone was really earlier, and is much further along with it.

  • Smartphones are small and compact, which helps with photography
When you're trying to learn how to take better photos, it can be frustrating if you have a big and heavy DSLR camera that you have to carry around with you everywhere. This isn't much of an issue with smartphones as they are small, compact and lightweight, allowing you to carry one device that can handle all your photography needs. In addition, most smartphones are also waterproof, making them a great choice for taking photos in and around water.

Conclusion

There are many good reasons why you could now start using a smartphone as your primary camera, rather than relying on compact point-and-shoot models or digital single-lens reflex cameras (DSLRs). I have only mentioned a few here, and this list will be far from complete. Yet I myself notice that even as a photographer, I rarely go out with my expensive DSLR. Depending on what I'm going to do, and for example daily walking with the dogs, a Smartphone is already much easier than my DSLR. Admittedly, if I'm really going to an event for the day, or going somewhere specifically for shooting, I'll definitely prefer my DSLR over the Smartphone.

No matter how easy a Smartphone is, in terms of quality it really doesn't beat my DSLR. But in terms of convenience for the daily happenings in and around the house ... then the Smartphone really wins. And be honest, it's nice that even on the normal 'non-photography days' you suddenly got the opportunity to capture those little moments thanks to the Smartphone.

Yes, all the photos are just moments, captured with my smartphone, around my house

The thing I love most about cell phone photography is that it opens the doors for anyone to become a photographer. Cell phones have come a very long way in their capabilities. It will be interesting to see how they continue to evolve.

Absolutely true yes. The smartphones are really opening doors. They are available to almost everyone, and you don't have know anything about technology. if you are interested and throw yourself in a learning process, things are even starting to get better. It really helps many people. And yes, I'm also curious to see where technology is taking us with the smartphones.

Thanks for stopping by and your comment. Hope you're good?

Ya, my family and I are doing pretty good. The last few years haven't been the best to us, but we have come out stronger. We are hoping that 2023 will be a great year for us. I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your comment ... yes smartphones are getting better each day

large plastic balls in the fields indicate an Animal Farm nearby. Have a nice trip

Not an animal farm I would like to visit. Lol. There is a horse dealer (buy and sell / slaughter) very close to here, so yes, the plastic balls in the fields don't go that far away.

I'm a huge fan of smartphone photography. I completely agree with all your points, especially the first. Smartphones have given us a great gift, and that is divorcing the art of taking a photo from the technical knowledge of taking a photo. It's a split that has been long coming. Even on manual setting, Modern dSLRs require much less technical knowledge that large format cameras. Smartphones make the split nearly complete. Now anyone who has some artistic sense (which is all of us) can take great photos without knowing anything about the technical side. No more need to worry about shutter speed or aperture size. I use smartphones in my photo classes a lot. I used to make the students walk around with wooden frames we made so they could get in the habit of framing things and composing the scene, but now I use smartphones for the same purpose.

Thanks for your visit and comment! And yeah, I completely agree with you. It's possible for everyone to learn about composition and up their photography games without having to worry about all the tech. Take with that the size of an average smartphone and the weight, compare that to the weight of the average DSLR with lens mounted ... I know what I prefer to carry along on a dogs walk outdoor.

Ahww how sweet! Your dog is much more relaxt than mine I guess, lol.

Thank you for your visit and comment. I agree with you. A smartphone is much more convenient to take along on a dog stroll around town or the village. And so often that you have this kind of sweet little moments, now you can capture them all easily.
