Why I always carry my camera...

Even on a short walk, I carry my camera. You never know what you might see...

This morning I walked to the market with my wife and on the way home we came face to face with a female deer...

These are not great photos, just some straight-out-of-camera snapshots.

When the deer saw us, she changed direction and began to cross the street to avoid us.

DSCF8025.jpg

She is still quite calm and unconcerned. There are very few threats to these deer in the city. They basically have no natural predators except for cars and possibly dogs...

Suddenly, the deer changes direction again. She has spotted something that worries her.

The deer starts to run. Notice the woman in the background who is pulling on a lease to restrain her dog.

So here you see the deer running... still not in panic mode but trotting away from the dog. She has three feet off the ground here.

Now having put just a few yards between herself and the dog, the deer slows down.

...and finally walks away again, looking for some flowers to eat. I hope you enjoyed these photos, thanks for looking!

Super cool

Thank you! :)

I miss seeing wildlife so up close like this.

It's very cool to see these deer almost every day!

Great photos, amazing deer! Congrats!
btw: Today I saw a young fox crossed the road, unfortunately, I drive the car. But he brightened my day, just like your photos :)

Thank you! I'd love to see a fox. I hope you see him again!

That’s so cool. I am amazed that deer was so calm. A true suburbanite. Hehe

They are almost tame but not quite :)

Good morning Keith, we have deer all over the place here in Upstate, NY. They are beautiful animals. Always a thrill to see them walk across our yard.
Enjoy the day.

You're in the country, so perhaps you don't have a lot of traffic lights there? The deer here have learned what red and green lights mean and how to navigate busy streets... no joke!
