Landing in Sharm El Sheikh 🌅

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

It’s been a busy year for me. After some months of getting up to speed in my new job and 2022 planning, I finally booked a trip to a popular tourist spot: Sharm El Sheikh. I’ve been to Egypt before, but never to the Sinai peninsula. I’ve been wanting to see this place for a while because I really like the combination of clear blue waters right next to the mountains. And it didn’t disappoint me.

I first got a view of the coral reefs on a nearby island and I knew I’m in for a treat!

As we started to descend, we flew above the mountains that are rising straight out of the coast.

This post might seem a little bit like an Easy Jet commercial but that’s just my luck of getting a seat right behind the aircraft wing. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

Below you can see the little town of Sharm.

Upon landing, I drove south along the coast for some 20 min to reach my accommodation. I had a view of the sea to the left and the mountains to the right of me all along the way.

This mountain range is known for Mount Sinai, one of the key landmarks in both the Bible and the Jewish Torah. In the Christian holy book, it’s the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God.

I landed at a windy time of the year as you can tell by the haircut of this palm tree but the sun is well worth it. No signs of covid either, the tourism seems to be doing much better this season.

Day 1 is done, and I’ll share more photos of my Egyptian adventure tomorrow.

Oh I can relate, came straight from winter as well. I really appreciate a break from the darkness and snow ❄️
