What an iconic view of Zurich!

Oi Hivers,

When I was traveling to Sweden quite a lot, flying almost became like just another way to travel with public transport. I knew my way around Amsterdam Schiphol Airport quite well, and I was getting used to the 6 hours of traveling before reaching my final destination. I haven't experienced much turbulence while flying, but one thing I never got used to was when the air pressure of the plane kicked in. I tried blowing through my nose to pop my ears, eating gum, and tried listening to music with earphones in. The best way to handle this was to fall asleep before taking off. Late-night flights suddenly became pretty attractive.

While there are usually direct flights going from Amsterdam to Stockholm and back, I think there were some delays or whatever, which made me have to fly through Zurich with another 4 hours of waiting time there. Since that was completely new to me, I didn't know I could just get out of the airport and visit Zurich. So I decided to check out Zurich for an hour or so, just to make sure I would be back in time to catch my flight.

The experience of wandering around in Zurich on the clock didn't help me to determine if I wanted to come back and visit the city again. My German is horrible, I can understand it, but if I start trying to talk, I probably sound like a deprogrammed robot. Or it could be the weather as well. Yeh.. let's blame the weather. It's always the weather.

Anyway, before this blog post goes entirely about travel, I just wanted to say that from previous visits, I knew I wanted to make just one specific photograph of Zurich before going to the next stop. It was a photograph with an iconic view from the bridge that captures pretty much everything "old" from Zurich. I spend my planning beforehand with Google maps, so I wouldn't spend hours on the spot as I did with the Rhine falls.

On arrival, I first had to dehydrate and chill, as it was pretty nice weather. I was super surprised seeing how clear the water was in the center of the city. It's pretty much a world apart from where I'm from, with all the water that's disgustingly brown with sometimes even trash in it.

Would you look at that refraction in the water? Looks pretty awesome now that I look a bit more at it (lol). I should pay attention to the photographs I take, and stop forfeiting them because I used a zoom lens (lol). I need to change my ways of judging JPEGs and photographs that are taken with a ZOOM-lens. Or both at the same time (do you realize how much error I get in my brain from just writing this?). Oh well, check out the money-shot. Certainly the best photograph I took of Zürich!

I love the photo with the boat in it. It makes for a great travel-themed photograph. I think I like it even more than the photograph that I wanted to make.

What are some must-see sights or experiences in Zurich?

While Zurich wasn't originally on my list to travel to, I'm quite sure that I missed a lot of Zurich. Are there any people from Zurich, or around, that can tell me what I missed out on? Let me know in the comments below.

Cheers,
Ruben

Damn that place is so gorgeous. I hope to visit Europe at some point in my life.

If you ever do, you don't know where to go man! haha. Switzerland is really stunning though.

I guess the clear water in the city center is already a pretty good part about Zurich to have seen:))
...did you make it to the lake with view on the alps?

Haha yeah it is much different than from my own place :P
Oh no, was it @ Zurich? 👀 Or which lake do you mean?

the zurich-lake 😅

Haha, thank you, I had to Google it... Seems I didn't make it much further than the bridges LOL. Both times.

Hahah, well next time you might make it one bridge further:)

Haha perhaps! I'll make sure to think about it when I think about Zurich! (one bridge equals seeing the lake)

Wao what a great and amazing places. I like to see this type of unique places. Natural beauty always attracts the people's. Thanks for sharing.
