Market Friday - New Camera Sony A7IV

Market Friday - New Camera Sony A7IV

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I will share some photos and a story of my most recent market related experience, well that's not true I have been to the supermarket since, should I perhaps say my most exciting ( for me) shopping experience which was I preordered a New Camera, which became available at the end of December here in the united States the Sony A7IV

For the last few years I have been using the Sony A7iii camera and it worked well for me and suited all my needs to be honest, but there were a few new features that made me decide to go for it, and I ordered it through Allen's Camera, and I must say there service is excellent, I called once and the rep I spoke to was excellent, and they called me when they received a new shipment to let me know my new camera would be shipped that day.

Also they do not charge tax other than for those in the same state PA, also shipping was free, since as I had saved up enough to cover the camera and tax, I was able to put the extra which would have been for tax to buy another spare battery and new Peak Design camera gear.

I have been using Peak Designs gear for a while since I bought their Messenger bag on their first Kickstarter project,

I have a slightly smaller bag I mostly use as this bag is a little bigger, but if I want to go out with more lenses than I generally carry I use the Messenger bag shown in the next photo

and if your looking for a camera strap I really recommend the slide they make, this is the second one I have,

Here is a photo of it attached to the camera

Well strictly speaking the blue Peak Design Slide strap I show in the photo above is not the new one, I took these down in the basement and forgot to bring my new ash colored slide strap down with me

I use one on my A7iii all the time and it is so comfortable, its still in good condition so I didn't buy a new one to replace it, I will have a Strap for both the a7iii and the A7iv, of course the new camera will be the one I use mostly, but I am keeping the A7iii for times when it would be handy to have two camera such as catching family playing school sports, or events around here, that way I can have a different lens on each camera and quickly be able to switch between one and the other.
I also picked up one of the Peak Design Cuff Straps as shown in the next photo

Sony A7iii 41mm F5 1/125 Sec ISO 2000

I have generally used a shoulder strap, but have heard good feedback on the Cuff, you just put your wrist through the loop and than if the camera ever slips from your hand it wont fall all the way to the ground,
I have used it a couple of times and wonder why I never got one before to be honest.

Here is a better shot of it a bit closer in

Now one of the Pains for most camera straps is when you want to take them off, say if your using your camera on a tripod and you dont want the strap swinging around in the wind, or to switch from the Slide Shoulder strap to the Cuff strap in my case now, well Peak design make that easy with what they call an anchor.

you can quickly unclick the anchor from the belt in literally a second.

OK back to the camera, What's new in the A7iv that convinced me to upgrade

there is many things that have changed but let me just highlight the ones that convinced me to switch

The A7iii has a 24 Megapixel sensor, the A7iv has a 34 Megapixel sensor
Admittedly not a huge change and the 24 has been fine for me at times, but the extra over a third in Pixels can be handy at times especially if I want to be able to crop the image and get closer in, its also a newly developed sensor.

The body size is a little bigger on the new camera, making it a more comfortable one to hold, to be honest I wasn't so sure the difference would be that much, but since holding the new one I do realize my pinky finger was hanging in the air, and the feel just feels better to me.

I was used to the old Sony menu system, but the new Sony top of the line models came with a new Menu System, and having played with it for just a few days now the new menu system is for sure an upgrade, with more customization options buttons and dials, I think I have it setup so for most walking and shooting I can change settings to what I need more quickly with this new camera.

The A7iv has improved autofocus options including but not limited to it has Human, Animal and Bird Eye focus, maybe this combined with the better customization will enable me to get some better bird photos this year.

It also has a lot of improvements in video capability but since I hardly ever shoot video that wasn't of that much interest to me.

Now I was a bit slack and all the photos of the camera were taken with my cell phone, so let me finish off with a couple of shots taken with my new Camera

This was on a visit to Fort Taber at sunrise, it was quite chilly but no wind so not to bad and I got to see a glorious sunrise

Excellent review of your new camera, you made a good choice, Sony is known for being very innovative. Anyway, the camera doesn't make the photographer, so here's a wonderful combination: great photographer and a good camera. Very beautiful photos you share with us at the end. I have an Olympus E-520 camera, hahaha it's already 13 years old, it's quite a Ms. and fortunately it has lasted me quite a while, it just has a detail with the memory card that I need to check. Greetings @tattoodjay and thanks for sharing ♥.

Thanks so much
And I always say the best camera is the one you have with you 👍🙂

As I could see in your previous post, the images of the A7IV look great and the camera itself doesn't look bad either - no, I will not use the C word here 😉 and I wish you much fun with your new toy, my friend 😀

I love the Peak Design things. They make great products and the quality of the things is great. I have the Everyday Sling bag with 10 litres which I use daily when I'm at work, but I'm thinking of buying the Messenger bag because then I would not need a separate bag at work anymore. I also have the Slide strap, but I only use the Cuff which I also have and love - great company and great products, as said before.

!BEER and !WINE - both make a nice dinner with !PIZZA :)

Thanks for resisting the urge to use the C word LOL, but there great cameras as well as I say the best camera is the one you have with you :)

The messenger bag I used a lot when working in the city, I have a smaller none peak bag I use mostly here, but I have seen the sling and when my current bag starts wearing thats probably what I will go for I do love the quality of the Peak design stuff even if it is a bit expensive

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

That's completely true, the best camera is the one you have with you 👍

The Sling is great but it hasn't enough space for the camera and additional paperwork that I might need in the office or when I visit other offices or police stations. The price is high but the quality even higher.

Cheers with !PIZZA and !BEER

The only thing that puts me off the sling is that it doesn’t have a slot for a water bottle which I need I always have a bottle of water with me on walks

Other that that the 6L would probably be good for me fir a walk about bag

That's right but when I'm walking I usually take my backpack with me. That reminds me I've got to prepare it for tomorrow. I want to drive to a reservoir where I haven't been in a while. It's up on a mountain and hopefully nice icy :)

I have had the 6L Sling before the 10L, but it was much too small for me. I could fit my camera with one lens in it, but not much more.

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

That’s interesting to hear maybe the 6L is a bit small

Good luck at the reservoir tomorrow

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

You have to try it yourself I think. I always try to have a second lens with me, but that wasn't possible with the 6L version.

I didn't go for a walk at this reservoir because there was almost no snow, no fog and no ice, I just didn't like it. On my way back home the valley was covered by fog and this castle was a little bit higher 😁

Hope you have a great weekend, JJ 🌞

Cheers with !PIZZA and !BEER

Ohh I love that shot

And as for the sling, I like to have at least one other lens with me sometimes two, so perhaps the 10L should be the one I am considering, no shops near here have them in stock so I cant really get a look and feel at them

but for now my old bag is working well for me

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

Congrats on the new camera, friend!
Telephoto lens and frame cropping... you increased your zoom :))) now all the birds are yours.
I think that with such a matrix, the old manual optics will be able to show their best qualities. New opportunities have opened up before you and I wish you real joy from them.
Cheers and !BEER

Thanks so much yes those features and the bird eye AF maybe I will have better luck with getting some photos of birds

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

By the way, if you use a wide-angle lens, you can take quick shots without really aiming. Already at home, leisurely, you can choose from the whole frame its important part :)

That’s a great point about a wide angle lens

Now, this is a great post! Getting a new camera is such a great piece of excitement hehe, and she's a beaut...and look at those photos and the colour depth and clarity. probably has a lot to do with the photographer, but a good camera doesn't hurt in the right hands 💗 And wow, I finally found someone else that uses Peak design !LOLZ I got the small shoulder bag and the backpack on the Kickstarter with the slide shoulder strap and cuff strap. They are awesome products. Sadly the zipper has gone on my small bag. So bummed. It was my go-to for so long. I need to see if I can get it fixed somewhere! I almost bought the messenger but I thought it would just be a bit too bulky for my smaller frame and therefore awkward to carry. I must pop Market Friday down in my diary and get a post in next week, although it may have to be something from the past as they are few and far between at the moment with it being winter here. I've seen lots of @dswigle's comments on Hive and you are right...very supportive; lovely in fact. I need to go and support her community. Thanks JJ 💞 !PIZZA

@samsmith1971 Thank you and JJ @tattoodjay! He is always kind with his shoutouts to me! Thank you for your kind comments as well and many people are using something from the past they haven't covered with a post and we are pretty creative on what a market is. :)

Thanks again!

Brilliant! Thank you @dswigle, I've read a few and I'd love to write something this coming week💗

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Thanks, sounds perfect. I appreciate all the info❣️

You are out of jokes for the day!

@samsmith1971 you can call @lolzbot a maximum of 2 times per day.
Level up by buying more $LOLZ so you can share more jokes per day!

I am waiting for a few photos with your new Sony Alpha 7 IV. It will be interesting to see the improvement compared to your old Sony Alpha A7 III. Maybe you can even make a direct comparison, if you take photos with them at the same time at the same place from the same angle.

Have a nice day. Good luck and have fun with your new camera. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

I did include a couple of photos at the end of the post with the new camera and this post was witht he new camera

I think the main noticeable difference will be if you zoom in on a photo more detail with be clear on the new one due to having a Sensor with higher resolution

Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍

Profesional camera for good pictures.

Well its is strictly speaking considered a Hybrid Camera more than a professional camera, but there professional model costs three times as much so this one is good for me ;)

Damn I’m jealous ! So this is the alpha series yea ? Is it a mirror less camera ? When I was in Abisko I talked to a photographer and he said he strongly recommended the Sony Alpha!

Yes its an Alpha Series Full frame mirrorless

I started on Sony with a apc camera the A6400, then i had the A7III also a full frame Mirrorless and now this new one and I am very happy with Sony :)

Yea I can imagine. It definitely has the same level as an SLR camera but it’s more versatile and most models are also more portable .

Ohh yes definitely lighter that’s why I switched from my Pentax DSLR to my first Sony

Wow, congratulations for getting a new camera. I am going to check out that site to see if I could find a moderate camera that I could afford. Sony will be my preferred choice though.

Thanks I have bene very happy with my Sony cameras, if you dont need full frame the Sony A6*** series are good and more affordable

Okay, thanks. I will look deep into their features.

feel free to ask questions anytime

and I am not saying Sony are the best cameras out there, but they are the best for me at the moment

as I often say the best Camera is the one you have with you :)

Ahaha, I got your point!👍

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

haha, a nice coincidence - right as I got your dinner-promising-comment, my wife began to fry cutlets for the dinner. perfect timing! 😁

Funnily enough cutlets was what I cooked for our lunch yesterday

Funnily enough cutlets was what I cooked for our lunch yesterday

well, cutlets aren too much that exclusive, I guess. the most funny part was the timing and coincidence, hehe. next time!

Hey @tattoodjay, here is a little bit of BEER from @qwerrie for you. Enjoy it!

Learn how to earn FREE BEER each day by staking your BEER.

Boy this looks nice, i love that feeling of a new camera. My recent 'new' camera was a video camera (as I'm more apt to do that) just the handheld DJI pocket osmo, it's a fun and convienent little camera and good wireless lav mic. Takes a pretty good pic as well, tho i wish it had a proper zoom but I can't ask for everything in a pocket video camera I suppose :)

Whereas for me I seldom do video d see o my focus was more on the photography features and happy with it so far

That said it’s a hybrid camera so great fir video if I ever need it but most likely I will stick to using my GoPro for the odd time I do video or Timelapse and while it’s doing it’s thing walk around taking photos with my Sony

Wow! Sony A7IV? It's a cool camera that is very capable for pro photographers 😍, but it's very expensive for me. I also have plans to buy a camera with my earnings from HIVE so far. Maybe a Nikon ZFC. Hopefully, it will happen.

It’s not quite a professional camera there two or theee times the price but yes it is expensive

Good luck saving enough to get the Nikon

Upgrading always feels nice! Congrats!

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

That is awesome. Sounds like quite the upgrade to me. Congrats on the new camera. I hope you love it. Also very nice that you can use your lenses on either of the bodies. That is a plus for sure.

And yes at times having two cameras that can use the same lenses will be handy

I'm sure you will love it. I bought the A7rIV last year and am more than overjoyed so far!

I had been thinking of the A7Riv but the A7iii was working well for me s the A7iii was a natural step up

This camera looks like the cadillac of all cameras! I know you will enjoy it and keep us stocked up on new photos! That wrist strap is a pretty nifty device for sure!

And I put off fir ages getting the wrist strap and now that I have it I love it

Wow, a new camera. And here I am two and a half years after I said I get me one... and nothing, hehehe☹️
That's because I always chose to buy coins, haha😍

Well the coins hold and increase in value unlike a camera which deprecates on value so you probably were more sensible

Looks like you purchased a professional camera, good luck with your work and as many amazing pictures as possible.

Thanks it’s not a professional model there two or three times the price Of this one
But it is a good one and I will have fun with it

I also have a Nikon D3500 DSLR, but I take most of my pictures with my mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy S21.

Well many do these days cell phone cameras have got better and you have them with you

Hello sir.
It's nice to come you in the market Friday hehe..
From what you've explained about your old nee camera, I can tell that the upgrade is worth it.
You should join the photographers on cites like pexels, unsplash and the rest.
Your photos are beautiful.
Thanks for joining market Friday🙂
Congratulations on having your mee camera.

That looks like a super self gift. I have been wanting to get a new upgrade for my camera but it has to wait. I have heard the Sony cameras perform amazingly well in low light conditions. Enjoy

Been saving up for this for a king while but yes a nice early birthday gift for me

I am very happy with the Sony Camera I have used so far

Happy birthday in advance and enjoy you new work tool. Looking forwardto see what comes out of it

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes

Have a great day

Nice! that's awesome, been wanting to get into photography for a while now. I've been doing a lot of research on cameras. It's overwhelming. Everyone has a different opinion. to be honest, I don't even know where to begin...

picking your fist camera is a challenge for sure and I totally agree there are so many different opinions its hard to know what is good advice people tend to think the brand they have is the best
So I wont push the Brand i use as that wont help but I will say the following

I always say the best camera is the one you have with you, even if it is a cell phone camera, they have come a log way

Secondly you need to consider how far you want to get into photography, it can be a very expensive hobby, if your looking to just be able to get better photos than you could with a phone then a bridge camera might be an option for you and you may ask what is a bridge camera, its the bridge between a point and shoot small camera and a DSLR or mirrorless camera where you can change lens, bridge cameras often have a built in lens that gives you the ability to zoom in and out.
thats how I started into photography again, I was into photography in the 70's with a film camera but then with all my travels I got out of it, and started again in 2006 II think with a bridge camera

One advantage of a bridge camera is you cant change lens so it saves you money having to buy different lenses

But I should say there is nothing wrong with a point and shoot camera either, they are relatively cheap, small and easy to carry around and always have with you

I hope this hasnt confused you anymore and feel free to ask any questions

Congratulations on your new camera :) I hope you will have a lot of fun with it 🙌 That sunrise really was glorious!

It's a very nice camera... Hats off to Sony ❤️ love your photography skill dear.

wow, nice and excellent experience 😁 I hope I have just like your camera. I love photography and videography 👍

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

even you have got it, and I hope the dream come true...

Congrats on the new camera, @tattoodjay!

I read reviews about this camera and lick my lips.

I would be happy to have a third model, but my financial resources are limited for now.

I wish you new beautiful photos of birds and interesting places.

Thanks so much I am looking forward to it warming up and getting out more with it

Congratulations. Sony makes some nice equipment. It should be fun to see what you can pull out of it!

I'm waiting for a camera that has been rumored to be in the works for Canon for a couple of years, but hasn't materialized, yet. The chip shortage and staffing shortages probably aren't helping the situation.

Yeah the chip shortage is affecting so many manufacturers this one was delayed a year I think

Have a great day

This is a good post Jay, and so are many others recent posts. I’d love to have a mirror less myself.

I hope you don’t mind if people do a bit of reward adjustment due to rancho vote, we tend to do that from time to time. I love your stuff. Have a great day.

Thanks for taking the time to explain why the curangel and it’s voting trail gave me downvotes
Quite an adjustment but I do understand there is some frustration with how the Ranch account does upvoting

So no hard feelings

I switched from my Pentax DSLR to mirrorless a few years ago when I was having leg issues and wanted to reduce the weight I was carrying around

My Legs are good now but loving mirrorless and sticking with it

Excellent! Thanks for understanding. I have leg issues myself, bad Achilles’ tendon.

We have no way to control the mindless rancho votes other than downvote and distribution. His bot is set up to vote 100 % on whatever is trending. So anything trending gets more rewards. Nothing gets distributed below… it’s a problem.

Of course I am not saying I like seeing downvotes on my Posts
Seeing a post with the broken heart and 53 downvotes is not fun LOL

but then again when I even get a little downvote of no value and see the broken heart with just one downvote I cringe a little

But like I said I know you have a reason you feel is warranted for doing it, so I keep on and dont let the downvotes frustrate me

Sorry to hear about your leg problems mine were caused by blockages, luckily I had a procedure and got stents ibn my legs and there doing a lot better now

Have a great day

You can always see great photos. My respect!
