Red Sky in the Morning

Red Sky in the Morning

The photos in todays post are from a couple of morning walks down by the docks and fishing fleet here in New Bedford

The title for this post comes from the old saying
Red sky in morning, sailor's warning.
red sky at night sailors delight

Although when I grey up we said it with Shepard and not sailor, but with New Bedford's whaling and fishing history Sailor seems more apt for this post.

And I got curious while appearing this if there is any scientific logic to this saying and it seems there is
A red sunrise can mean that a high pressure system (which is generally good weather) has already passed, thus indicating that a storm system (low pressure) may be moving to the east and hence storms may be coming.

More boats and different skies

I find it interesting looking ta the boat names when walking around the docks, Such as this one Elizabeth and Nikki, and wonder about the significance of them, in this case I have no idea.

I remember the sky the morning I took this next shot was soft pastel colors and so quickly changing

And as I was preparing this post i had a thought, not something I do to often as it can make ones brain hurt LOL. but that led me to decide to add this Thoughtful content for the @thoughtfuldailypost tag hosted by @wesphilbin

And my thought was, I think we all have thinks we do at times which are based on perhaps habit or some life experience we had when younger that we do without even thinking about them, and sometime sit comes as a WOW kind of moment when you realize that's something you do.
In my case it was the realization that when I take photos of boats, the ones that catch my eye most for photos are red ones, for example in this post 3 of the 5 photos the boats are red.

Now I know I love blue and purples, and of course the greens of nature, but the fact looking through my photos I take a disproportionately more photos of red boats than others.
And that got me thinking what other quirks do I do out of habit without thinking about it.

And a few came to mind and I wont go into them all here, but it was something interesting to think about

I am planning to buy and live on a sailboat in the future. If I will have the opportunity, then I will name my sailboat as "Hive", if it is not already named. It will literally be a Hive boat, because I will buy it with the money earned on the Hive blockchain. I am sure that every boat has its own naming story. I am planning to buy it for around $1000 USD or $1500 USD. I currently have $121.239 HBD in savings, so approximately the 12% of the price of the sailboat.

Thank you so much for the support to everyone.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings from Hungary.

Thats a good goal to have on Hive, and would be so cool if you could name it Hive

Those are definitely some awesome looking vessels. I be the fresh ocean air smells great while you are walking around the docks. I can almost picture it in my mind right now. Great shots as always!

Thanks it was such a nice morning, and yes in some spots the fresh air is amazing, in some spots around the dock there is the fishy smell which isnt always so fresh LOL

Ah, haha, I was thinking that after I posted the comment!

LOL, actually the worst spot for that isn't by the port, its at one end of one of the Barrier walks, there a spot that sometimes gets dry at low tide and occasionally fish get caught out

That makes sense.

What beautiful colours 😍 I love these photos! Really fantastic! Congratulations!

Those are all incredible pictures :) I think you choose red so it will contrast?

!PIZZA !ALIVE

And perhaps your right maybe I subconsciously like the red in shps because of the contrast

Great set, I have never seen many ships in real life like this. The reds one do really catch the eye for sure.

This place has a big history with commercial fishing back to the whaling days and is one of the busiest fishing ports in the country

Thanks 🙏

These sky photos are awesome, @tattoodjay. Upvoted, reblogged.

Thanks so much

exceptional, as per usual :D

The colors on the first shot a pretty amazing, jumping out at you! It seems to me that this week and last week the pink and purple Skies have been predominant, getting way too nice weather. The skies are very dramatic and love looking at them!

I think you're probably right but that is such an imposing color and draws your eyes in and so I think that you're probably attracted to that. Right now in your current location oh, there is no better for all for me then you and your HarborWalk! Brilliant photography! Keep out of those fishy Alleys!

LOl I do my best to stay out of the fishy Allies :)

I find in winter and including as we approach winter and it gets cooler in the mornings it just seems to me the views are so crisp and the colors something special

Have a great weekend

I have to agree with you on that one! Crisp!

Hermoso 😍

👍🙂👍

I don't know what to look at first. The sky, the water, the ships? All of them, you put them all together so well.
So simple and expressive. I declare here that I will try to draw inspiration from your format (without copying, I hope). It seems to me to have the ideal quality and size. I know it will be hard but at least I have a benchmark.
Thanks!

I got lucky that morning with amazing colors in the sky
I am both honored and humbled that you draw inspiration from my posts, but I have to be honest I think your posts are always great and dont see what is inspiring about mine compared to yours

Indeed, some colors like I have never seen, and I think that when we achieve great photos we have to thank the photographed model, in this case nature, which has a great contribution. The photographer must see and have the ability to capture the moment. You did that.

I have a sense of dissatisfaction with my posts, I would like to evolve and improve and I can only do that by trying to draw inspiration from those who are better than me. That is a desire but I have not yet started the change. Thank you so much for your appreciation!

I think many photographers and bloggers on here have a tendency to be hard on ourselves I know I am as well
But I also think it’s also good to always be striving to improve

That's right, that's my wish too.

👍🙂👍

No way I could pick a favorite from the five stunning vessels presented in your post. Incredible photography! @tattoodjay

You make me aware of how much I enjoy any and all kinds of boats. Astrologically I'm drawn to anything related to water. You might be as well. I've forgotten, when is your birthday?

And that got me thinking what other quirks do I do out of habit without thinking about it.

Do tell! You can't just drop and run off like that!😀

Thanks so much my Birthday is in January the 16th so makes me Capricorn but on the cusp with Aquarius which could explain why I love being by the water

LOL as for my Quirks I probably have to many to list lOL
