Wednesday Walk How do you like walking alone or with others?

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)

Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)
Some have bene asking how my wife is doing, she has been slowly improving, not much pain and can now almost reach to the top of her head with the shoulder that was broken, but still limited mobility, Yesterday she had a follow up with the Dr, and he said thats probably all the mobility she will have with her arm, but can continue with the physical therapy a little longer if she feels it is helping.
He did say surgery is an option but its a major surgery, repairing the rotator cuff, reforming the arm bone longer and a shoulder replacement, but as she is not in bad pain all the time for now he says with her age and health conditions he would probably not recommend the surgery since it is such a big Operation.
My wife was a mis of pleased that surgery is off the table but frustrated that she will have to live with limited mobility.

For this weeks post I was inspired by a few comments and replies on Walk posts from last week and I got thinking about how do people like walking or perhaps more accurately who do they like walking with.

For myself I often enjoy walking on my own especially if I am out on a photo walk So lets start with this photo of a duck on its own

It it I am antisocial or introverted, perhaps yes, but I find walking relaxing and calming especially when out in nature and enjoy the quite sounds of nature and hence being on my own.

Now not saying I do not enjoy walks with my wife which I do, when she is feeling up to going out for a walk, whether in a park on a beach or even in a mall sometimes we may be chatting away or at other times walking quietly especially on a beach or anywhere else outdoors

Now for me Walking in a crowd is not fun at all, when I have to like when I worked in NYC if the streets were crowded then I picked up the pace and got to where I was going as quick as I could and away from the crowds.
But I know for others walking with a group or Cycling and hiking, is for them the best way to go

As for me I do not mind crowds when I am on my own and the crowds are in the distance LOL

Weekly giveaway of shares

This week I am sending to the following who joined Wednesday Walk, for this week I did a random draw and the following each received some Hive @grindan, @lhes, @bambuka, @acesontop and @jobeliever

And @elizacheng will send to @olivia08

As @elizacheng and I collaborated with our Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenges

And one person is randomly drawn who joins both challenges to receive one Hive from me and this week it is @TBA

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

Make me Smile Collaboration

As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,

Here are the rules for her challenge

Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

I most definitely prefer walking on my own. I enjoy it when my wife goes out on a walk with me, but often she would also finds a spot where she waits for me while I go ahead and take some shots of the area.

I think I'm very similar to what you say about yourself in your post.

I love how you used the ducks in your photos to illustrate/emphasize what you are saying! Well done!

You'll find my post for this week here.

Enjoy your day!

were very similar and so are our wifes, she often will find a spot to sit and relax while I stroll around taking photos :)

I will visit your post shortly

It seems to be the case indeed.

I'm sorry to hear about the limited mobility due to your wife's injury. I can understand her frustration, but I'm glad that surgery is off the table...and that she doesn't have much pain at the moment!

👍🙂👍

I can understand why your wife would have mixed feelings, sort of feels like a lose-lose situation... BUT, at least you know she is on the way to mending the best she can! 💚

I liked your thoughts on walking partners, and the photos of the ducks! I like to walk with others when I go outside for fun, and walk alone when I go outside for stress relief myself. 😁 Crowds? Just never for this lady please haha!

Thank you very much for the prize, and for sharing your awesome photography! !LUV !PIZZA

Yeah I can understand as well, she is frustrated that she is limited for things, even her clothing choices she cant move her arm enough to get into say t-shirts without pain and other little things that she needs help with that she used to be able to do on her own and feels bad I have to help her with things which of course does not bother me at all

I see were similar with hating crowds

Honestly, I love to walk alone. It will be very fast and I will be able to focus on where I am going to instead of walking with friends which will be slower.

Thanks for your feedback I am the same unless I have my camera then I may walk slower taking photos

For early morning walks, I'd prefer to walk alone, but for broad daylight and even sunset walks I love to walk with company.

May your wife get well very soon sir.

All are nice photos.😊

thanks for your feedback and thanks also for the well wishes for my wife

I'm with you on the crowd thing :D Lately, I had to force myself to be with the crowd for I do like to be part of the festivities but at the end of the day it drains me more than taking long walks on trails or hiking. Wonderful shots!

:) yes I do find city walks or crowded events do drain me more than a longer hike in nature

I'm the same with crowds, and am definitely an introvert. It's odd because lonely Nature walks are perfection, but I find, if there are people, the rush of people in the city isn't as bad, as one still feels quite alone, one of the reasons I love walking London I think. Boston, since the pandemic, has still not completely filled back up and it can feel rather like a ghost town.

I LOVE the shots of waterfowl on ice. There is something so magical watching them in the act of enjoying frozen water. Another great #wednesdaywalk @tattoodjay.

I did on today as well and per 'rules' here is my link to my post :) https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@donnadavisart/a-wednesday-walk-at-the-captain-nye-house-and-thorton-burgess-nature-centre

Thanks for sharing the link and your feedback

I still have yet to visit Boston for a photowalk day or two even though I am not a fan of cities its something i have to do lOL

I enjoyed walking alone at times as I don't have to worry my companion might be bored already waiting for me.
But, sometimes it was also nice walking while sharing some thoughts. So I could say it depends on the mood.

Thanks for the give away and hope your wife will get well soon!

thanks for the feedbakc and yes a good pint it often comes down to ones mood

Beautiful captures @tattoodjay 😊😎
Such a clear photos of the ducks.

Good to hear about the update of your wife.
It’s difficult. Such an operation at her age… and now with less mobility. Hope the therapy will improve it a bit more.

About walking. I am an introvert too and avoid crowds as much as I can. Going grocery shopping is 😖 even once a week.
I walk with hubby most of the time. Luckily he doesn’t mind me taking hundreds of photos and a 30 minute walk can easily become a 3 hour walk because of it hahaha.
I did join some walking groups in the past too. But I stayed at the back and took time to stop and photograph. Then I walked fast to catch up hahaha luckily a few others did the same.
Going alone works well too. Depending on where we live.

Today I show you a village not too far away in the snow. In the highlands of Scotland.
We have snow since Monday again and it’s so pretty. ☃️☃️☃️
Have fun:

Enjoy your Wednesday 👋🏻😊

Thanks
Honestly i got the impression from the Dr, that the Physical Therapy may not bring any more improvement but it helps my wife feel she is doing all she can
she is frustrated that she has so many things she can not do herself these days and feels she is asking to much of me, which is not true I dont mind and will always help her as much as needed

I am the same i go to the supermarket early just as the open there is hardly anyone else there so I can get what I need get in and out quick :)

You are welcome 👋🏻😊 @tattoodjay
I can imagine how she feels. Stand by her and keep telling her it’s ok. Eventually she will believe.

Yep… hahaha very fast, take what we need and go. It is such a shore… I wish we could do without !LOL

I seldom walk with groups; I walk alone most of the time. Maybe it would be fun!
Best wishes to your wife, I am glad to know that she is settled. It is what it is, unfortunately.
Happy Wednesday, @tattoodjay!

Thanks for the well wishes for my wife :)

Wow, I am glad your wife is doing better. I never would have guessed that the surgery was that invasive. My mom is a week into her knee replacement now. She has physical therapy today and she seems to be getting around pretty well. Before I know it she will be taking long walks!

Thats good your Mom is doing well

Yeah when the doctor explained the surgery my wife needed it sounded so much and he didnt recommend it, she is so frustrated with things she cannot do on her own and needing my help but I always tell her not to be I dont mind at all helping her

I'm sorry, that has to be rough. It's good she has you there for her.

Well I am lucky in that I try and generally suceed to have a positive attitude and hope that rubs off on her :)

We all need someone like that in our lives!

So true

Thank you so much @elizacheng and @tattoodjay

Lovely photos!
Limited mobility is somewhat frustrating for an outdoor person.
Dunno if she is but I hope she gets better soon!

I also like to walk on my own because I can dictate my own pace.
But that also doesn't mean I don't like walking with my friends.
We tend to walk slowly especially when we're talking while walking. 😂
But walking with my boyfriend is probably love and hate. I hate that sometimes he walks so fast, but I love walking with him when we're both not in a hurry.

Indeed it is, she is not as much as in to outdoor walks as I am but its other things that she misses

LOL about you and your boyfriend I cam imagine my wife saying the same about me lOL

Hello again, @tattoodjay !
Will you check out my post?
The coin came out to be blue!
please!

thanks for dropping the link I will visit it shortly

I like a bit of both. If I need some thinking time or doing a bit of photography, then I go on my own. If not, I like to go with friends or family.

as they say variety is the spice of life so mixing it up can be good also

Hello my friend, I'm so glad to hear that no surgery because that brings all kinds of anxiety and fears... and recovery too! but sad that she will have limited mobility too. I hope that there will not be too much pain. love to her!!

and as far as walking... i like both hehehe

sometimes i love being on my own and letting my thoughts wander..

but sometimes i'm with the perfect walking partner, and I get so close to that person in that space of time. its like we're just in our own world. and i love it

ok but - that last picture WHAT is beside that duck on the left??? it looks like a cool painted egg! hahahahah

Thanks from my wife for the well wishes
thanks for your feedback and in the last photo I think that is some sort of ball someone must have thrown to the ducks

After reading @tarazkp’s post, I believe my answer is a little from each column. Walking alone is liberating and the silence leads to mindfulness while getting the circulation going. I have come to cherish solo walks with a no-conversational friend.

That being said, a walk with someone else is as rewarding as it gets. Connecting with another individual, sharing the experience and even learning something is my preferred walk.

Without the accompanies walk, I probs my wouldn’t appreciate the solo ones as a change so much.

thanks for your feedback yes i think for many its a balance of all

Love taking pictures of our feathered friends.
Ours have not had any frozen water to content with though.

Me to, looking forward to when it warms up and getting out to try and get more bird photos

Like to walk with someone else and alone. Usually get in at least two walks a day. Will have to get to posting them someday.

Thank you for holding virtualgrowth token. You have been included in today's post.

namaste

thanks for your feedback, over winter i havent been out walking much but hopefully will do again soon

I'm sorry for your wife's suffering, it's so complicated, this fracture. I wish from the bottom of my heart that she makes her recovery as quick and painless as possible.
Obviously, in this situation, you are walking alone. I understand you like to walk alone, especially since you want to take pictures. I like it the same way, alone. When you described how you are, I saw that I prefer the same.
Interesting coincidence, I posted some wild duck photos today too.
Your photos are perfect, I will never be able to do something like that, I lack both the skill and the lenses. I don't say that with any regret or frustration, it's just an acknowledgment of reality.

Thanks :) I think for my wife she has about all the mobility she will have with it, which is frustrating but with my help she can get by and do most things, she is understandably frustrated at the moment, but she will be better
yes taking photos is best one ones own, or perhaps with another photographer stopping whenever we want to get the shots we want

Thanks for the kind comment on my photos I wouldnt say they are perfect, but better than I used to get with plenty of practice, for me its all about enjoying the hobby

With pleasure! I'm glad you're confident your wife will be okay, I'm glad this is so.
Best to enjoy your hobby and get the satisfaction of a job well done!

🙂🙂👍👍🙂🙂

First off, sorry to hear about your wife. I wish her the best recovery possible.

I prefer to walk alone when I am taking pictures. No distractions. I actually like walking in crowds downtown. Like people surfing buzzing in an out of the crowds with nowhere to go. Just wandering through them. I'd like to someday understand how to photograph people in crowds or people in general. Almost like you did with these ducks. I just have no focus when I look at people or crowds. Maybe someday. BTW, here is my walk this week. https://ecency.com/hive-155530/@rt395/night-walking

thanks so much for the well wishes for my wife
thanks for sharing your link I will visit it shortly

Taking photos in crowds or of people is a challenge something I seldom do and do not do it well

Thank you for the update on your wife Lulu and am glad she won't have to undergo major surgery with all the risks that come with that. Keep the therapy going and you may be surprised with the improvement over time. As long as there is no pain let nature take it's course in the healing process.
Absolutely beautiful pictures of the ducks by the water. Just like you, I enjoy walking by myself as opposed to a crowd. Simple solo meditation in nature is so amazing.
Do enjoy Thursday ahead :}

I am not sure how much longer she will keep doing the physical therapy, from what the Dr said I got the impression he thought she had as much motion as she will ever have in that shoulder, but as long as she wants to keep going for the PT then we will :)
Luckily for the most part she does not have much pain these days so that is a big plus

A real pity what happened to your wife, I hope she can get better and that the therapy will help her with mobility, however the most important thing is to put a good face to the bad weather.

In answer to your question of whether I would walk alone or with someone else, I personally feel that I would do those walks alone, I prefer to be alone in those moments of relaxation.

A good face to the bad weather
thats such a good thought and something my wife has to embrace, her shoulder is likely not to get any more mobility but at least she doesnt have much pain now so she has to stay or try and be positive and make the most of it

thanks for your feedback

Thank you so much @tatoodjay! I appreciate it lot.

Anyway, you had a great photos and it amazed me so much.

👍🙂👍

I don't really like walking with groups of people. I do enjoy walking by myself or with my boys.

Thanks for your feedback, about the same for me

Yes I agree walking solo is best, conversation and I lose focus on what I am doing, keep the chit chat for later.

LOL exactly my thoughts, but then again I am not big on chit chat at anytime lOL

If there is nothing constructive to say then shut the fuck up!

LOL but so very true

What cute ducks, I came in for the photos and found this incredible challenge. Best wishes to all the participants and long walks hehehe.

👍🙂👍

I really liked the post, I am walking alone and listening to loud music. That way I get rid of everything
!PIZZA

Depending where i walk I often listen to music as well, but if in a busy area then I like to be aware of what is going on around me

Cheers and !BEER
