Macro photography in the rice fields 🌾 | a photo journal

My recent trip back home was filled with spontaneous activities, one of these, is when I went to the rice fields where my father work. He is a farmer. A great one, since he grew up in the farms. I just wanted to have a quiet morning strolling the rice fields in our home but it turned as accompanying my father do his work. I was amazed by how the rice fields promise a good harvest by the looks of it. One of his secrets, he said, the best fertilizer is a farmer's footprint. Every morning, he would walk along the pilapil or embankment and inspect if there are growing weeds. He would patiently pull out all the weeds one by one. It's no surprise that he was able to cultivate the rice into healthy ones.

We walked along the length of the rice field. Him, doing his work and me, admiring the tranquil of that misty morning. It was cloudy during that time and it felt really nice to just tag along. As I walk, I noticed a lot of little creatures such as insects and arachnids. Back then, I was a kid who looks for spiders and collects them for a fight, it's a kind of sport/play here in our country. But I realized —when I learned about the balance in ecosystem— that it has negative impact in Nature. As we walk, I decided to just admire it from a view where I can enjoy it...and that's by looking at it closely using my smart phone. Sometimes, it really amazes me how Apple products are equip with great camera. I was able to capture macro shots of the insects and arachnids using my smart phone!

After an hour in the rice fields, we realized that the early morning has passed already and it was time to head back home for breakfast. In that short time, I was able to grasp the usual morning of my father and of a farmer. They wake up early in the morning to work on the field, usually, a time when I'm still asleep when I'm in the city. It was a nice reminder to me why I never leave a single grain on my plate whenever I eat, it's a bit of hard work of the farmers. 🌾
