Market Friday: To Xian Butcher Shop

I did not have time to pen this down because it was totally busy during the Christmas month. I thought, before I forget about the experience, better pen it down now and since it is Friday, it is my #marketfriday sharing.

We saw an advertisement on social media about an on-going promotion of Pineapple Christmas Ham and English Roast Pork at Xian Butcher Shop, a place to buy all types of meat. Husband wanted to check them out to see whether would they suit our Christmas dinner.

Xian Butcher Shop

Location:
27-G, Plaza Crystalville, 1, Jalan 22a/70a, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It was our first time here and we also considered this as one of our family activities considering the boys were tagging along. It was a one shoplot at Plaza Crystalville, a section of shoplots full of varieties of restaurants selling different types of food. Once arrived, we were greeted by posters informing us about Iberico pork and their pork and a Chinese Good Luck cat stature.

Although the shoplot is not that spacious, everything was organised and arranged nicely, the place is so clean and very pleasant for shopping.

We straight away asked the lady to show us the Pineapple Christmas Ham and English Roast Pork. However, she did not know the exact way to prepare it, and the owner whom had communicated with us via message was not around. In the end, after much discussion, we decided not to get those for the church Christmas Dinner event.

The lady asked us what else we needed. She showed us around and she was a super patient, helpful lady. A good worker indeed. She brought us the pork section to inform us another promo on pork belly and spareribs, which was on 50% discount on limited time only, special Christmas promotion. After calculations, husband grabbed a few of the pork belly packets and spareribs packets.

There were other pork cuts too like frozen minced pork and Iberico pork, pork ham, emperor steak and even yummy pork bones broth superior soup, highly recommended by the lady. However, we did not plan to buy those.

Then the lady invited me to take photos of some recipes since she saw me snapping photos. She said I could keep those recipes for upcoming Chinese New Year (which is now, but I cooked none of them, lol).

There were frozen waxed duck, free range chicken and many different beef cuts as well. However, the prices were not that cheap compared to the seller we usually got our beef from, so we told the lady that we would not buy any duck or beef.

Then, she told us there was chicken promotion too, which was called coconut chicken. Sounded so interesting, we went to check it out. Apparently, coconut chicken was very healthy because firstly, they grew in an environment listening to yoga music, low fat, no growth hormone, no antibiotics given, and was coconut-enzyme farmed. Sounds so cool. Husband and I were discussing whether should we try one. But with those pork belly and spareribs, we were afraid that our freezer would not have enough space, because I was thinking to buy some fish too.

So, the lady brought us to fish section. I chose patin fish fillet and barracudas. They were so many different kind of fish some caused so much, she said those were suitable for Chinese New Year reunion dinner. She encouraged us to buy those big golden pomphret. Another one called empurau fish the most expensive one there, because it was caught in the wild from the freshwater river and definitely had the sweetest fresh meat ever. However, those fishes were way our budged. And I was in amazement of the price till forgot to take those pictures. I only took the one I chose — patin fillet.

That was all about it, thus husband went to make payment at the cashier while I explored another section.

This section had all things sauces, marinades, canned food like local and Singapore luncheon meat even Korean luncheon meat, premade mix sauces, dry herbs and condiments and dry noodles. I loved this section but got to tell myself to control a bit or else we would overspend or wastage of food.

Another section selling everything tonkotsu and easy-cook chicken with sauce (I think), also on promotional price. I actually took out one out and wanted to rush to the cashier for add-on, but I put it back again to save money. I figured to just focus on what was necessary and not the luxury eating.

That was our trip to buy some meat at Xian Butcher Shop. I did not know the total amount spent because I forgot to ask my husband. But, I knew it was not as cheap as usual. Because we bought more on the discounted pork belly and spareribs which on usual days, we did not buy those cuts as they were getting unreasonably expensive. Well, once a while buying more especially on good discounted price was definitely a great buy! We went home without the Pineapple Christmas Ham but with other items. Yayyy!

Thank you @dswigle (Denise) for giving us a space to share our market and the stuffs we bought. Appreciate it a lot! 😍
